on 4-2 All I have to say by BaoBou
Wom - Great track BB - and those vocal takes were worthwhile because this is a top class vocal performance and then let me say that Im not even sure if that is the cherry on the cake because the song as whole is fantastic - drums, guitars, keys, lyrics, production - everything is just so fine and so nicely balanced.
Huge congratulations on such a beautiful track.

Very, very beautiful song here. It is the lyrics that are so good for a song to be made and it is the performance of yours. Excellent guitars but this does not mean the rest of the instruments were short on anything. A really pleasant listen BaoBou
Best wishes, Anthony.

Eyxaristw poly Antwnh!
It was actually one of my Greek colleagues who triggered this song. She reported on a project and said "That's all I have to say" and I thought that would be an excellent title for a song.... And this is what came out of it :)

Kalo SK!

this is really good! do you record the instruments individually?
BaoBou
BaoBou replied 13th Dec 2024 - 1 year ago
Well I'd have to run around a lot if I didn't, it's all me ;)

This is a song that I'd written on the piano, and I've played it live a couple times before recording, so I had a decent idea what I wanted to do.

Usually I start from some jam, but here I mapped out the song, played the drums for the first section, added the piano, then the bass... rinse and repeat for each section, with many takes, hundreds of vocals takes, guitars added, and then loads more fixes and takes and changes to the mix and corrections and little ideas until I give up and new ideas start to come out :)

The anger and the pain, The remnants of a chain, Broken on the floor ...Such excellent lyrics - yes, theatrical and I love that Rock guitar - I felt some Edwyn Collins vibes there, when I heard the track. Kay

About your track.
Just beautifull and the text is recognizable to many.
We respond that way but we don't mean it.
It is also a catchy song because of how you sing i dont miss you.
The music is great again.
As we have come to expect from you

BaoBou replied 12th Dec 2024 - 1 year ago
Dank je wel Rita!
Als je wil... stuur me de stems van je Karma track zonder processing en laat mij es kijken of ik er wat mee kan?
All of us here occasionally go back to our tracks and think "what the hell was Ithinking" and then for other tracks you listen with trepidation and find out that actually, that was pretty good - or sometimes even wow, was that me?
I also know the same can happen for the same track :) So I try not to delete too many... every track is a part of your personal journey and believe me, you're moving forward!

When someone with alot of raw talent eventually finds their groove, the sweet spot, so to speak, of their musical ability, and then branches out in all directions from there, their versatility becomes hard to match. Its easy to forget that Any dude could bang on a guitar all day long and not make a single note that commands any attention. That is why, for me, listening to the music you are making now leaves me in a bit of awe sometimes. One couldnt buy experience or musical personality even if one wanted to, congratulations on putting in the work and achieving results man. Lovely.

Very cool to hear you again Baobou! Been trying to get a chance to do some listening but life is very busy at the moment, bit of a transitional phase going on for various reasons. Anyway, this is gold. Such a sweet intro. Pro performance and mix. Just great happy fun all around. Cheers Zoot

Thank you so much my friend!
I've been in the same hole for the past year or so. Couldn't get the creative juices going, couldn't find the time, couldn't find the energy, the words I wanted to say, no interesting melodies, nothing that stuck.
I did 2-3 things that I think helped me:
* I completely rearranged my office/studio so everything was a bit easier to find again. The easier it is to play, the better
* I went to a concert that inspired me a lot! (Jacob Collier). Also, because he is so insanely good, I sort of felt freed up to be crap and do my own thing
* I started simple. The simplest exercise I could find, some 30 second clip. It helped me to find the fun in the process again, and then the rest came naturally.

Don't be hard on yourself. You are a creative guy - even if you don't write anything for a decade, it's still there, and you'll be back.

Hugs!

Buy this time
you will grasp the concept
The reservation wrote itself from the mere mention of quantum
A basic modernized space station

A very uplifting song, with a very bright guitar sounding and playing, pro level vocals and a very well done sequencing. I wanted some lyrics more, must be easy to you.
My best regards, Anthony

Geia sou Antwni, eyxaristw poly!
Writing lyrics is such a weird thing... Sometimes it feels like the most natural thing in the world and then some other day you feel you have nothing to say and no way to say it. Malakies!

Yeah, this is a fun one, mate. Awesome guitar, as always. It brought back so much of that 70s prog-rock feel. U.K. Yes, Quiet Sun, etc. Fav'd

on EP track 3 - The Rains of the Fall by BaoBou
I loved the way the instrumentation journeys us through this track - so well put together in terms of flow - I love the Niles Rodgers style guitar at about 1.56 in. This is kind of abstract Indie with a sort of West Coast feel. An enjoyable and interesting tapestry of a track. Kay0s

Thanks a lot! This one feels really long ago (I've made a long musical journey in 2023 and had a hiatus in 2024) but it's actually quite fun. Thanks for your comment and reminding me that not everything I did in the past was ##### ;)

Thank you for the compliments! But remember, you cannot fully control what music comes out of you... appreciate your own style!
What I sometimes do though is change the key, change the instrument, change the order, use a sample for inspiration, etc. That can give a different view.
Have fun (which you are clearly having, so no issues there ;) and thanks for passing by!

BaoBou, that's definitely a funky one. I immediately thought of Ian Dury & Blockheads... I'm sure you remember. Such a cool understated kind of funkiness. I really like the bass here... there's a lot going on. And it all sounds great too. Nice track.
Cheers,

on EP3 - All in a dream by BaoBou
Well everyone has already said it's a little different to your usual work, and that's true. Maybe it's just the drums that are a little more modern. I really like this one mate. Took a while for the vocals to come, but when they did, they were crystal clear. And I very much enjoyed the lyrics (always a failing of mine, listening to lyrics lol). Your guitar work at the end of this reminds me a little of Mark Knopfler. Great stuff my friend.
