Didn't hear the first draft, so can't compare - but it seems to me that you must have heeded Spivkurl's advice. The vox sizzle in my headphones. Love that little "yoin yoin yoin" bouncing throughout. Seems you're getting better with each track, my friend! Can't wait to hear six months from now. Well done, and cheers.

EDIT: Wicked edit, man! It was sounding good before, but now it's HAPPENING! I have no advice at all for you this time! Nice one!

This is a really cool track, I like the style! Maybe those vocals could come up in the mix a little bit, they seem to lack the sizzle that I'd like to hear. Very cool arrangement and orchestration though. Nice work!

EDIT- Definitely a major improvement, based on what I remember. The vocals are definitely audible now. Great beats! Great track!

This is a great track, I'm really enjoying the good feelings it conveys. Very modern sounds on this one, and the mix sounds great. You've achieved a really good atmosphere with this song. I'm glad to have heard it, I'm gonna fave this one!

3rd play...there seems to be an 'empty hand insurrection' going on, and it's quite inspiring! If this is satirical as I suspect, you do realize nearly nobody's going to get it. The 'ambient' or fx sounds you're using here are all from pop culture, aren't they? They ones that aren't (i.e. - your creations) are geared to invoke pop culture sounds. I hear little snippets that are US TV circa `73, `74, video game blip sounds, etc. Commodification of culture, the leveling of subversive elements, the successful commercialization (and normalization) of hip hop. And you're giving it back. The percs here and rhythms of your keys ground it authentically in the genre (and are really nice, too!). In a sense, it's more authentic than what people are buying. In terms of constructive criticism/revision suggestion I'm going to have to second Big Pete's request for vocals in the second half. I feel this would close the circle and give it more of a sense of completion. Outstanding draft, and I'm looking forward to hearing subsequent revisions.

I'm back with a review, just love all the complex arangments, very intracate track, lots of elements almost foreign to each others just blended very well, I love your drum track its sounds like a lot of work went into this, the funky wah guitar the almost ambient feel of some of the elements, I would probably have used more of your trippy vocal elements in the second part of the track because I was intiged by them and then they diseaper, but thats me, very interesting and mysterious track, makes you want to listen a second time. Peace Love and Freedom to love or hate the Yankees (the baseball team) or the Red Sox (lol). I'm a huge baseball fan worked for the MontrÃÂal Expos for 8 seasons as the stadium DJ.

Great production value all over this!

drums on the mids and highs more pronounced?
feels a little... "off"
but
despite that criticism

this is really really great stuff!

agree with mr.sean
but I really enjoy it either way

... hmnn.. I want to be real
Ok
Drums more in the mix (mono even) minus the ethnic qualities (high point was the bridge), then bring everything up around that stereo field wise around?
So you have a more focused groove?
Panning and such is great, the vocal I like-- but it feels too prominent in my opinion .
The ending outro thingy was awesome!

I like your style!

Love the Chill Out mood, very old school, needs some jammin' happening on that groove, some wah guitar to funk it up, maybe some horns I always have horns, its a horny type of groove, lol. I heard all kind of stuff happening in my head, really inspiring groove, peace from the land of the polar bear.

So that's how it feels to hear one of your own! In this (re)context, it seems a bit like Philip Glass shifting into accessibility. You are indeed becoming that prion disguised as a tasty happy mcMeal, aren't you? Hip hop it is (and no one will question otherwise) while that infectious groovy rhythm sets up shop in the listener. I really like the groove in this - it's got that Voudon sensibility where you could loop and dance this one gently for hours. Your jacked in my friend, and I can't wait to see/hear where you go next!

on Whats Good with That Noize ft The Philosofist 2 by victormusic01x
I'm beginning to see some sort of hip hop insurrection happening on this site, and am glad to see that you're one of the subversive forces involved. Your use of "ethnic" flavored samples opens the door wide open to those of us still resistant to the genre, and your "staying within the discipline" means that you're inviting a much larger audience in as well. In terms of your arrangement and execution, I can't help but think that your musical growth is on some sort of parabolic trajectory. I really dig that wind section that reminds me of 1920's interpretation of the exotic orient! I wasn't sure about this one when I listened to it a few days ago, but realize that it's so good that I had to hear it 4 or 5 times before I could consider reviewing. Very, very sweet! Faved for sure.

You've probably noticed this isn't my first listen. I've wanted to give you feedback, but honestly generically it's outside my comfort zone. So from someone who you probably shouldn't listen to, I think it really works. I love the barking "dogs of war" as an effect and it's very provocative. Excellent riddum, and it's got that distinctly funk sounding guitar lick that throws it off into something else entirely. Hopefully, if not in our lives, soon thereafter humans will realize how obsolete this whole war addiction really is.

yeah, the good ol dogs of war, you got it right about the barking too, to tie in the animalistic parallel you know!! I gonna see where i can end with this and keep you posted my man! thanks for the love!

Arrg! It's those elusive commercial flavors! How do you do that, my man? This really does have an `80's taste to it, though not in the 'static' sense. In other words, the guitars simultaneously stand 'outside' of a period piece while invoking the aforementioned decade. Bloody hell, my East Coast Brother - any tighter I don't think a razor could fit any cracks. Wow. (hey - you've gone purple, too! Must be the brother thang.)
