Really cool rockin track! I really do like the arrangement, the song takes you places and everything is where it's expected. It does sound old, but i've been in an old school mood lately. Really nice work!
hey Spivkurl, really appreciate the kind words and you taking the time out to listen to my stuff, new stuff marinating in the lab right now!
thanks!

Sweet groove, great production, original arrangments, love the mood of the track, really great beat structure, you get my vote for best ambient in the all genre comp. and its a fav. this is NYC ambient, it has the NYC vibe big time, Peace Love and Freedom to love the city that never sleeps at night. I don't remember if I told you the story I think I did, about the stranger asking if we wanted to by watchs on the street walking behind us (me, my girlfriend and a friend) well we said no we had no money and Never Looked Back, lol. for real.
thanks bigPete for the kindest of words and listening man! the more I experiment, the more i learn about these genres, the recording process, lovin' every minute of it! thanks for voting and faving this!! really appreciated!!
v!
hey, thanks for listening and the kind words, the voice is basically saying... don't look back, once you are moving forward, don't look back...thanks again!!
v!
i like this track. i like the way the horn and sax come in just right. thank u for ur comment on my track, but i really like this one. keep up the good work
hmn.. the bass bugs me a little.. but not in a bad way?
i would like a rounder deeper bass personally
have you tried a lower freq. bass? i noticed the "work in progress" ....
ahh
and.. this is more ... personal opinion, ... it would be cool if this transitioned into another key or soo... but.. that is refutable.. it may work, it may not.. just my opinion
solid mix, great track!
the breakdowns are very very effective
I deffo could see the Hedgehog slamin' to this... lol
kwalaa, is just a made up word...right now it means life and always living it and not worrying about all the mundane bs around us at any given moment! the bass could be heavier, the slap bass sample reminded me a little of Bootsy Collins though, have u ever heard his funk fusion produced by Bill Laswell(Material, Axiom)..thanks for the kind words and listening man!
v!
thanks Z for the good look and listening man, yeah I'm enjoying this site alot and it's been a truly learning experience bro, will let you know what i end up with here on this jam!! thanks !!
SUPER FUNK!!!! Wow Vic this stuff is HOT! Really great arrangement and mix. Some wonderful guitar work buddy, sounds mighty fine. You mentioned Dave Sanborn in a review you gave me, well I will say Candy Dulfer/Grover Washington/Sanborn about this funktastic creation... Send me a track to blow over (Please)! I feel the funk and I want to blow baby....
Thanks Slap1 I'm glad you heard what I've put together so far and the very kind words, I'm gonna come up with something blazing for you to play on for sure!! Your loops and playing are a real inspiration!I used rei4real's guitar loops and a few others from the site also, but I play in a similar style but can't record guitar live at the moment.. Thanks again man!!
How did this one slip by me? I'd like to use quotations and cite planetjazzbass's review for this track. But what I really dig about it is that its insurrectionist sensibility. Subversive music for the masses. Something rather Africanesque about that...
thanks n0mad23 for always seeing the underlying themes in my music! and yes, the rebel in you is the rebel in me...quoted from one of my Caribbean influences, Jimmy Cliff! thanks for listening and the kind vibes!!
v!
`T'is funky funk for true! What I really dig though is the interpretation. Guitar funk reworked into a 21st century context, recognizable but evolved dynamically. I love the panning you've done here - it's full on without losing itself to the gimmick of the technology. Your use of percussion here is truly brilliant - again full on without getting lost in itself - fabulous transitions just where they need to be with the right moments of minimal sound - not quite pregnant pauses but absolutely perfect in the context of this track. Damn...you're talented! I feel totally privileged that I got to be 2nd to review this.
my brother to the west, thanks for listening and the kind words!! I'm glad you liked what i've got so far..I'm still checking out various options..and will send you the final deal for sure when finished!

This song is excellent, great atmosphere and the beat grooves. The music is so good it's hard for me to focus on what the voc samples are saying. I can't exactly place this in a genre either, it's just plain good. I'll be faving this one. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks man for the kind words, this track has been a major learning experience for me, was trying to come up with something different, encompassing everything i've been exposed to over the last 40 years...really appreciate you listening to my stuff bro and faving it!!
this makes me look at my drum machine and think hellya!
some REVERB would sound awesome on this! did you try a room reverb on the loops? that may sound great!
or
delay the rhodes! you will get a very nice landscape in my opinion! you should try some effects at least.
thanks for listening and the kind words guy, honestly, I've been pondering the use of effects in general quite a bit lately, I tend to go in different directions sometimes, alot of older Afro pop mixes tend to be a little on the dry side sometimes, I've only had the full version of Acid for three months, prior to that, I worked on the very.very first recording programs for PC..in 1982!! and Dr. T's sequencer for Atari circa 1987-1993!!..and mucho years in between!!!thanks again for your feedback!

So how's the loose blunt work in virtual land anyway? Hmmm, I'm thinking we need to form a collective that includes like minded generically challenged artistes. I love how you've abandoned rattling the cage and gone directly after the foundation here. It's dub, no doubt about it, but does that label sufficiently categorize what you've got? Nope. I really admire how you've brought vox into this using the same aesthetics that holds it all together. So sweet - I've had to listen three times in order to write some commentary. Nice and thick without falling into the trap of symphony. I've got no helpful hints, but have to fav it!
thanks man for listening to my musings and the kind words, I wasn't really sure where this track was heading...thanks again for faving one of my tracks too n0mad!! to be continued...
Man, I love the sound you've made with this track ... the beat is nice and the transitions seemed effortless. Its got a nice hip hop flow with sick ambiance and the vocs added a nice touch.
I looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove!!!!! :D
gonna down it right now :D
Sure it will be makin' 'noorz freestyle when I'm gonna make him listen to :P lol...
Hehe..a track in ten minutes...Slap can do that..not me no way lol..this is a great effort nonetheless..with a cool stalking beat that's questing all over...very cool and chilled for sure..I get into this sort of gear and it could easily be the foundation for an extended and expanded piece...Mint!..cheers planet :)
thanks man for listening and the love! Yeah, I might extend and expand this a bit at some point but I tend to keep moving with new stuff, adt maybe?? lol..thanks again!
Aaahhh...I dig these sounds..African music is so so crisp..love those high frequency melodies with the steel drums...I can listen to this stuff till the cows come home...I particularly like where the groove takes a more western Jazz fork for a few bars..nice touch!...this track is upbeat and fun..great stuff!...cheers planet :)
Hey Vic....Cool vibe man...I wish I could sing!..this lady has a great set of pipes..this really is a great tune..I'm groovin' along to a mix of smooth chic almost pop funk (with a great message)..and then the guitar comes in!..reminds me of a master chef putting the finishing touches to an elaborate cake..excellent work with a very pro soundscape...Top shelf material!..cheers planet :)
hello planetJazz, thanks for listening and the kind words guy! this is the same girl who sang that famous 70's disco cut "Funky Town", one of the classics, unfortunately only had cash and time to record one song with her then :( (....thanks for the positive vibes!
I dig this, if this is what "Chill Out" is (I'm still learning all these genres) then I really like it. This was laid back with a deep groove. Nice work in an hours time.
This is awesome. Made me feel like I was in the Caribbean surrounded by gorgeous ladies and fancy drinks. The rhythm is full of win, and a catchy melody.
I wouldn't call your vocals croaking, I think they stand out well, and help give this track it's vintage feel. I really like that it sounds so 80's. Nice guitar work too. Nice work! Thanks for sharing!
