A very interesting track Mosaic. As you've mentioned, it does need a tidy up. My suggestion is to make the vocals about a decibel louder (more or less). Also, I feel as though there should be a compressor somewhere, but I'm unsure. Other than that, everything else is great. The guitar is brilliant, and all of the elements are well mixed and balanced. Overall, an outstanding effort. Keep it up. :)
Thank you mate for the review and the feedback on this one, since been away from making tunes for around 8 months so going to be a little rusty in doing my works, so getting great feedback from you is so appreciated that's for sure, mate went in and made some adjustments to the vocals eg lifted slightly and some other tidy up work, would appreciate if you could do me a favour and check it out again and see if you can notice a difference now, would be helpful if you could do that for me...peace mosaic...
pretty cool! I enjoyed listening a lot lol. I really liked the melody though! Especially the guitar! I feel like that's probably one of the most underrated instruments in electronic music nowadays. But it honestly adds so much to the track. Congrats and best of luck to you in the future!
Many thanks for being the first to review this one, haven't been here for a long time, due to health problems, so it is good to get feed back as when you been away you doubt your ability to put stuff others might enjoy,so thank you, I know I am still a bit rusty compare to what i do normally, but it is a start, peace mosaic
Thank you mate, like mention in earlier reply to this one, even today I enjoy listening to it, have a trance version coming hopefully soon called likacircle, will head your way again soon my friend over next few days...Peace n Respect...Mosaic...
Incredible!
It's people like you on here that have me listening to enjoying and appreciating so many different genres and approaches to music.
I first turned up here because there were some good quality free loops available and wasn't even aware of this part of it for a long time.
It's now my main radio station!
I still find it hard to believe an amateur mostly hobby site can be turning out stuff like this.
Hats off to you and your hard work.
So many talented people on here.
Thank you for the review and very kind words, means a lot mate, glad there is many great artist on this site, to help everyone appreciate different genre's...Thank you for the fav my friend, will head your way next few days, not much time at moment....Peace n Respect...Mosaic...
Hey Mos!
I know this track has been here a while but i haven't been here that long, so i give you my thoughts now, and go through the others whenever i can;)
Bro this really good one of the best tracks i heard on this site so far( i haven't heard as much as you but still), the percussion is awesome and that bass man is top! although feels a little low in volume to me but i understand you want the vocal to be the focus.
The vocals are amazing, beautiful voice and great lyrics.
Well done with the piano and that distant pad is just spot on.
Nice work my friend you got some serious talent.
PS: I just read the review you done on mudhoen's track,
man that was deep, hat's off to you for helping him out, good man.
mate thank you for stopping by, very pleased you enjoyed this one, even today still one of my fav tracks...will head your way again next few days friend, little short on time, just popped in to respond to reviews...Thanks for the fav...Peace n Respect friend...mosaic...
Hey mosaic
well i never heard the early evolutions of this track and pop is not really my forte but i like the song the vocals are great very powerful and the mix all seems where it should be
good work man
thank you for stopping bye and checking this one out, an oldie but I reckon a goodie, I still enjoy listen to this one even today, catchy type of piece, this gave me massive headaches trying to get vocals sorted in it but it is worthwhile, nearly ended up in the bin...thank you for the fav my friend...Peace n respect...Mosaic...
Yes this is a oldie but I sure still love listening to it myself even now, something about the piece, simple but does the job, very pleased you enjoy it my fiend, thanks for the fav...Mate have another trance in next few days stay tuned...Peace n Respect my friend...Mosaic...
this is simply a cool track. Reading the comments below was so enjoyable experience, I never expected to hear such funky sounds from you listening so much to your actual trance works. I am happy to discover some connections to ferryterry's works - he is my favourite performer on here!
Mate thank you...Sometimes I surprise doing other genre's sometimes not great but is something different from trance to challenge myself...Plus enjoy trying something new and put my stamp either good or bad on another genre lol...Peace n Respect Alex...Mosaic...
Totally unexpected to hear this from you. It's almost a funk jazz fusion type song. The flute is fantastic to say the least. Nice job creating space within the song. The arrangement is solid and there are nice accents, dynamics and a variety of sounds to keep it fresh. I didn't hear the earlier version sorry, I can't compare it and make any comparisons.
The drums are snappy and funky, thought the bass could be a bit louder, I am a bass player so I usually tend to think that. :) I keep focusing on that flute, some tasty goodness there.
Well done mate, must say your trip into funk was a success. Off to check out your other new one!
Thank you for the review mate, pleased you enjoyed this one my friend, fairly happy with this one, yes considering first attempt at the genre, will try this genre a little later on, hopefully will be even better then this one...Thanks for fav too...Mate the other version of this one Is up on profile, called Let The Funk Begin 4 on The Floor...Decided to leave both versions of this track up, I like both, different but the same in some way, guessing why I like both, if had to choose would maybe put this one ahead...Peace n much Respect dear friend, so no email yet, will have tomorrow mate...Mosaic...
every one has probably said what i would say. Haul of the One........One. Also i really like the flute. If you have'nt seen the documentary
Dancing In The Street: A Rock & Roll History, Episode. 9: Make It Funky
it is an aswesome lesson about funk. Im not sure outside links are allowed but it took me 2 seconds to find it goes for an hour so try not to catch the 5 minute clips.
thanks for sharing

Thank you for stopping by and checking out my first attempt at the funk genre, glad you enjoyed the listen overall, will do some more work to this one in the near future...Peace n Respect...Mosaic...
Hi MrMosaic,
Good song. Very good work on the flute.
It flows nicely and adds a "70s" touch to the song which I like a lot (don't ask me why, but whenever I think to "funk" my minds automatically goes back to the 70s...)
"Bass-Drum" locking issue: probably yes... the loops don't match perfectly.
One interesting comment (close to what MrUrbanShokker mentioned in point 4): I just returned from a jam-sess with my "drummer of choice" and I was commenting with him on a funky riff which we played for almost 10 minutes.
I told him: "to make a cool funk riff, I think of a riff and then I start removing notes until I let the bare-bones of the riff stand out"
So yes: specially from a bass point of view, funk is "removing the un-necessary" and let the riff shine in its beauty! :-)
Thanks again for sharing the song with us: beside my "un-needed" comments the song is good.
Looking forward to hearing a new version which will be "perfect" :-)
Ciao, Domenico
Mate thank you for a great in-depth review of this one, listening back to it again just now, agree the bass not meshing well (or could be better) with the beat, plus couple of other elements could combine better, will look at this one again in the near future, but not just yet, if going back to it too soon will stuff track up, something I don't want to do, which I seem to do lately :(
Killed hundreds of decent tracks trying to make them better, so now learn to give some breathing space before going back to look at them, again many thanks friend, so much appreciated...Peace n Respect...Mos...
The Jigg is up!! I concur with the comments below. (it does seem to come together better towards the end. I like the beat from FT, his drumming is always awesome. Percussion wise it needs some more high hats in a syncopated style.
Here is a funk tune I did for Joe's funk Contest that he never judged yet!!. https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/163779#comments
I it I de-construct funk in a minimalist way in 6/8 time signature. You can hear the high hats in the middle of the tune that I was describing. Keep at this one it's coming along nicely.
Steve
Mate thank you for reviewing this version, pleased you like the changes so far, will check out your link shortly, and try to see what you are saying about this one that would help...Don't know if I will do anymore just yet mate, have a tendency to screw up tracks lately when going back to change them, which I don't want to happen here, but will do more to it for sure, suppose helps when your head is in a good place, which mine hasn't been of late, so will definitely look again soon...Peace n much Respect friend...Mos...
I'm enjoying this version much as well! I think that overall I prefer the other version, mostly because of the timing contained within. While urbanshokker's comment was very generalized and cliche when it comes to funk music, it did have some good advice. It seemed like in the last main section, your bass and drums grooved pretty well, but some of the earlier parts seemed to have the bass and drum loops starting on different beats or something. By the end I was definitely feeling it. I think that the instruments are what makes these two tracks "funky" for the most part, and that is important. Thank you for sharing these with us! Oh BTW, I noticed when I click your name below the track title, it would normally show all of your tracks, but instead it says there are no tracks available - maybe should contact Shan, as it seems like a code issue. Hope you are well!
Mate thank you for reviewing this version as well as the 4 on floor version, had mixed thoughts with the reviews, mixture of good and ok ones lol...Thinking where you mentioned about the bass, I have added some extra in parts so that might give it a more completed part then other parts of the track, will try to do some more to this one over time, but not doing anymore just yet, I normally just completely stuff up track when going back to them too soon, Got a review from Joe MrFunktastic, he was happy with what I had achieved within the track, so that made my day for me, guessing everyone has different idea's on what funk should be, to me this has a funky groove feel about it, so that's why I put it under the funk genre, so to get a pass from Joe blew me away...Peace n Respect mate...Mos...PS: health still up and down at moment, had injections for shoulder, but still not the best at moment :(
Will check out what you mentioned about avatar...Thank you...
Looks like our friend urbanshokker knows his stuff Mos...some interesting observations there that I`m making note of myself as I have tried a couple of funk mixes of my own that I sure didn`t impress myself with ( I do love the genre)...must say your effort is a whole lot better than mine turned out...interesting to hear the jazzy flute lead bits and the bass loop is a reminder of some of the old school funk I like.....Ive been looking around for some good sax leads (any advice?) for a mix I have on the burner right now...may have to resort to my limited keyboard skills & see if I can push put something approaching genuine...anyway...this one makes for good listening and I think that is the ultimate test...I wouldn`t be a very good source of advice on the genre my friend but I think you have gotten some of the best already...our friend Joe Funktastic`s comments would be interesting...way to go...keep on...I`ll try & join you in the genre one of these months....Ed
Mate thank you once more for checking out my works, seems to be getting mixed thoughts in reviews, Joe reviewed track and was happy enough and giving credit for the effort I have done, considering my first attempt into the genre, have to admit wasn't looking forward to Joe reviewing, knowing how much he is into the funk genre, so was blown away when he enjoyed the track, guessing it could be better, but not touching it again just yet, way things been here, I have killed more tracks then completed, so if going back to it again, could just completely stuff it up...So best leaving it just for now...Peace n Respect ED...Mos...
Congrats on your first trip into funk. I like the track but heres some advice from an oldschool old man funkateer who goes back several decades and is a professional musician (as in - playing bass and singing has been my career/job :D )
1) Funk isnt four on the floor - four-on-the-floor is disco
2) You are using a bass loop. This is fine but the drums and bass parts really have to lock up - If you have a solid phat bass/drum lock, you can do almost anything else you want with it - but those parts have to lock, too...Your guitar loop is a bit off from hitting the accents
3) Funk is a very heavy downnbeat (The ONE)....Always hit the ONE hard
4) This is the most important: What makes any song funky isnt the notes but the space (the 'rests')between the notes....Funk has to breathe
Hope any of this comes in handy.......With all that said, your track really isnt funky, but it is a cool track....liked it lots....best of luck
Many thanks for stopping by and reviewing this one for me, also thank for a great in-depth review, maybe not everyones idea of funk for sure, but happy enough with it being my first ever attempt, knew it would get some mixed reviews as with the other version with the 4 on floor would, guess I do things a little diff then most lol, but when attempting this genre again will try to follow some of the steps you posted here, again thank you for a great review...Peace n Respect...Mos...
Thank you for being the first to review this one for me, glad you enjoyed the track, Glad you mention the vocals, was thinking today vocals may help, will give it a go now you mentioned it thx...Peace n Respect...
hi Mosaic, this is some really good music from you.
It's also only your's third track Im listening to - and must say I like it a lot! Although am not quite aware of 'mainstrean' dnb style - but Im using dnb drums sometimes anyway... And I'd say I can really feel the connection with what you did here. I love a kind of almost eastern pad you're using around 0:32... Also the rhodes are very gently and perfecltly placed in the backround which creates some very unique athmosphere. Really good work on this one: this is groovy, energetic track yet still calming and peaceful indeed.
Alex
Thank you for the review on this one, pleased you enjoyed, not my fav genre to do, rather do trance any day, but always fun to try something else, even if not mainstream way of doing it, basically make tunes the way I would like to hear, if others enjoy, well and good...Peace n Respect...Mosaic....

Digging the atmosphere here - hopeful tension is always nice! The track is definitely missing some bass. While listening, my brain automatically added in some rolling neuro bass, then I realised that it wasn't there! Says something about expectation, and obviously, I have read that it was intentional.
Thank you for the review sorry about late response, missed it when doing return comments, pleased you enjoyed track mostly, yep does have 3 bass lines in this piece, but want the bass lower in the mix, guessing that is why they didn't stand out for you...so it had a trance type of feeling along with the breaks etc...Peace n Respect...Mosaic...
Thank you for the review and kind words pleased you enjoyed the track, yes have to agree Bear, very talented along with my good friend Spiv...Without those 2 guys track maybe never had been finished...Peace n Respect...Mosaic...
Ohhhh, now this is nice, Mosaic! You're in good company with your team mates. Wonderful singer.
I do kinda agree Crucethus, though. A ride of some kind would be nice, break it up a bit and give it a bit more length, but ever so cool as is. I always like to make my track over 4 minutes. I feel like if I'm going to put 15 or so hours in a song, I want it to last, but that's just me. Great job!
Matey thank you for the review and very kind words, still thinking about what you mentioned, but just lately hadn't been in the best of health so not stressing to much for now, plus thinking it does sound okies as is but will endeavour to have a look in near future...Will head your way shortly dude to see what you have...Peace n Respect...Mosaic...
