Hi. I like the chilled vibe of this one right from the first notes.
Very nice the way the bass fades in as things build up and you distract us with those vocal snippets. This is a bit trancey but it's also sort of hip hop. 0:56-1:08 straight kick definitely makes it more like trance.
Good ambient synth sounds and just overall a good melodic feel. I don't really have any criticisms except to say that it should be longer.
I only want to hear vocals on it if they're really good - not just some average rapper spoiling a classy piece of music.
Yeah, 90's east coast rap is the school I come out of. You can hear it in my raps. I try to experiment though. Some of the stuff I will be coming out with in the future will have a new school style bar and flow wise, with old school content. You should check out the Drake and Joe Budden "beef." Perfect example of new school "sneak diss" versus old school direct diss.
Dope ass beat. Love the strong bass and the drums. Melody matches perfectly. Definitely something I could rip to. I noticed you seldom do hip-hop instrumentals. When you do they are dope. Do you pay attention to get he rap game? If so what are your thoughts?
Thanks man for the compliments. I actually first got into the producing game due to hip hop. Hip hop has been my roots so it is not foreign to me. Most of what I produce hip hop wise I never release, but now I'm starting to primarily focus on hip hop so you'll be hearing a lot more of my style of hip hop. In my opinion I am a fan of old school from the lyricism of those like Nas, Mobb Deep, and Wu-Tang. I do like today's hip hop as well, but the rap game today isn't very consistent.
Mixing is on point with this song. I can hear each and every unique instrument clearly and that also adds to the song. Great vibe as well. It's a shame it's so short. Great track. Looking forward to hearing more of your work.
nice how you vary the instruments, adding and subtracting, offering some new sound for a sec, even as you stick to the basic groove throughout. great work. best of luck on collab. Dan
I'm not to familiar with the original so it's hard to comment. I've heard the lyrics for sure.I'd like to ask a couple of questions.
What exactly have you added taken away?
How do you do it not having the original individual tracks?
Where do you stand with the copyright situation?
Thanks for the comment,
What exactly have you added taken away?
The R&B singers are doing a cover of the song, it is not the original vocals. Also the structure and beat is different. The synth based drop is not in the original track, that is something I added. Also there is an added string and piano to accompany the melody.
How do you do it not having the original individual tracks?
As previously stated the vocals of the r&b singers are sampled from an acoustic video they did. The other vocals, Lukas', are artificially isolated from the original track so the original track cannot be heard, everything else is fabricated from other methods.
Where do you stand with the copyright situation?
As far as copyrights go I do not have permission for commercial use. I do not plan on doing anything commercial with this, just some casual work I do for my own personal gain and experience.
Thank you so much, I'm glad to hear that someone is always eager to listen to my work! If I remember correctly you did a tropical house track with some of my loops and I loved it! Thanks again for the compliment, I will continue to do what I do ^_^ and I hope you do as well because I also enjoy your work!
That's a lovely guitar loop and she has quite a charming voice that's
instantly captivating, despite being imperfect on some notes.
I like the reverb on her voice too.
Very laidback beat and the pan pipe type of sound was a real surprise. What are those vocals sounds behind the pan pipe? They're very cool. So, that change after her vocal is very cool.
2nd verse you bring the pipes together with her voice, which is a good bit of variation.
2:19 big vocal pop/plosive as she opens her mouth. You should get rid of that.
The kick is fine - no need for reverb on that.
I don't like the vocal too much. It's OK but there's something about the tone of his voice I don't like.
This is quite an unusual track for Looperman or anywhere so big congrats.
My wife isn't exactly a fan of this place but just arrived at my desk with a cuppa and said what's that you're listening to?
I had it on monitors and she absolutely loves it.
Dig the guitar loop, the singing works great with it. She has a nice voice. The "flute" instrument was a cool idea.
A couple things, I thought the male voice was a bit loud compared to the female voice, by just a bit. And I think the kick needs a little more reverb. Great track man!
I'm proud of you man! Interesting story, and crazy goosebumps over here man. Ayeeee! That male vocalist at the ending. This track is sick man. I love this ^-^
