personally i think that the most important part about recording guitar is the quality of the sound! and you have difinatly focused on that, and perfected it! I love it, classic rock chords and progressions, executed well, with a good guitar and possible preamp, all combine for an awesome track!
I appreciate your stopping by and listening/reviewing this tune. I use Pro Tools 8.0. With all the tools it has available, I am able to get the sounds I hear in my head.
I also Master every song before I release it as well.
I usually use recorded live drums from www.betamonkeymusic.com
Most all my latest songs have a bigger sound to them and 'feel good' according to the many nice reviews I keep getting.
It's not a matter of playing just one guitar in a track, you have to make layers of sound....like record the same rhythm track twice...once panned hard left, and then record again panned hard right.
You can't just copy-n-paste from one track to another as it won't work.
Anyways, that's how I make music. Partly from loops, and partly from my own playing.
I have the firewire Mbox2 Pro and use an external drive for audio only, and a DEll XPS laptop.
So anyways, I thank you again and I will review some of your material as well and give a review back. Thanks!
Randy
THAT WAS AMAZING!!! what can I say ,,very nice guitar my friend, top notch recording! The mix is perfect.I really liked all your songs! glad to find you on looperman,This song should be on the radio... Hats off>>>
Thanks for your kind review and listening to my latest tune. I appreciate all your comments. I will check out your tunes as well and give a review back shortly.
If you by chance also listened to 'Guitar Heros' which I did awhile back, I have a lady friend in Maryland that has written lyrics to it now and sings on the remix. It will be called 'Freak Zone'.
She sounds somewhat like Grace Slick from 'The Jefferson Airplane'....from back in the 60's.
I will be posting that probably much later today or tomorrow.
Vocals really help a lot as I don't sing myself.
As far as being on the radio, if you have songs you want played on the new internet radio at www.talenttrove.com , just sign up and check the forum on how to put your song up.
They are now teamed up with iTunes as well...which is a first! I've gotta do that next.
WoW I am a sucker for presents under the tree even in January--Excellent work- Outstanding Guitar playing Enjoyed this one- Is it Christmas yet??? Fila
Just happened to be online checking my mail when your review came in.
In case you may be wondering, this tune didn't get many reviews just because I held it back from the featured part because I didn't want it to get overexposed too early.
Anyways, I appreciate your listen and review of this tune. I am glad you liked it. No...have to wait another year for Christmas I am afraid. ;-)))
i was very pleased with this one as i am with all your music...the guitar parts were really cool and i love that crunch sound alot...anyway great job it was a nice chill song i really enjoyed it...fantastic work
Oh my, this is excellent! Yeah I like this very much, it doesn't sound off beat to me at all. Actually, this brings me back to my childhood days, during the fiestas, and some of my rellies would be playing music like this on the cassette player.
[Wow, just read your story about The Beatles, that's amazing.]
Review Start.
I love the intro, then the heavy guitar comes in, and the drums, the drums are amazing. Then the solos, I love that sliding guitar, You certainly can play well. Very well.
I loved listening.
Hey...I certainly want to thank you for your nice review. Yeah...that Beatles image is still fresh as yesterday in my mind. If I ever get Dementia, I hope this will still stay as a lasting memory. Ha!
As for this tune, I liked the heavy guitar part a lot. It is hard to get that good crunch sound, a lot of EQing, and compression going on.
The solo parts weren't blazingly fast so that helped in getting a clearer sound.
Drums, Ahhh....I love good sounding drums. I use live recorded drums from (as opposed to synth generated drums) www.betamonkeymusic.com
I usually get them at 24 bit as they really sound good and then lose a little bit when 'bouncing to disk' to 16 bit.
Thanks again for for comments and am glad you enjoyed this tune.
Randy
This track is great. Its got that kinda melody that makes you feel good. And where you take off on the guitar is perfect. You should do more punk or even try electro punk. If you ever whant to collab i could propbably hook you up with a cool beat.
The queen of Looperman with your beautiful voice.
I appreciate you coming by and listening to this tune. I hadn't seen you here reviewing to any of my tracks before that I recall, as I remember names pretty well...so welcome!
I like all your songs that I have heard. You have a clear distinct voice and you should do a song and enter it into The John Lennon song writing contest.
They have many different cash prizes and givaways as in equipment. They have contest going on througout the year. Here is the link: http://www.jlsc.com/
As for your friend, feel free to send this song to him.
I appreciate your comments and am glad you liked the tune. Playing it several times with a decent stereo system makes a big difference in what you'll hear as compared to little computer speakers.
woaaah!!! starts so gentle and then ... bammm!!!
awesome ... just awesome ...
I'm lovin everything in this masterpiece!!!
I'm a great fan of simple licks, many people seem to think that only the spectacular licks are hard to play and show the skills someone has ... I think you and me know it better ...
very very very good track!!!
Hey man, thanks for checking out my latest. Guess I have a way of sucking folks in eh? hee hee.
Start out soft so you'll turn up your speakers...and then 'bam' as you say.
Your very right, people don't have to do blazing fast leads in order to make a nice song. The right notes at the right time works the best.
I keep wondering how to better myself with each new passing tune...but its hard.
Thanks for stopping by and giving a listen to my latest.
No, I don't make loops myself, altho I could easy enough I suppose, and then use them later in different songs. I get my loops from many various sites around the Internet, and usually pay between $20-100+ for them in CD sets.
I recall last year I got an 8 CD set from England.
Totally all loops of many different instruments.
I strive for quality and I prefer 24 bit .wav files to work with. Perhaps an expensive hobby...but you can listen to the results of most all my songs and ask yourself...is it worth it?
Hey....nice to see you here and several others here that haven't reviewed my tunes before....or perhaps never left a review.
I am glad you liked the tune. I enjoy making them very much when you have the right tools..
I'll check out some of your tunes soon and leave a review back.
Thanks for giving a listen to my Latin type tune.
I appreciate your comments very much. Just a song I thought I would try since I had a Loop CD full of Nylon guitar only.
hmm, I have the feeling that this song changes its atmosphere several times. The first part is dark (maybe "badass" would be a suiting word), then the following one reminds me more of some kind of rush hour in a big city (that's the picture I have in my mind, at least). The mood of the third one fits more to the first part. Overall it sounds very interesting. Well done composition.
Hey, nice of you to drop by and give this tune a listen. Looks like your gonna keep me busy as you also reviewed another tune of mine earlier.:-)
Yeah, this tune was fun to put together. Trying to get that big sound isn't always easy.
I try to put the right pieces together so the song has a definite structure and to keep it from becoming boring and also keeping the listeners interest. Changing the beat some instead of the same thing throughout makes a big difference too.
Anyways, Glad you liked it and I will review some more of your songs as well.
I really like the way how you combined the keyboards and the hard guitar sound. The gutar riffs here are very catchy in my opinion. All in all everything harmonizes very well, you did a wonderful job!
Thanks again for your very nice comments. Again I have to say....I try and make quality music, even tho not everyone will like what I do.
Probably as you've already found out, I also make Blues, Country, and Rock type tunes as I like all 3 genre myself. Depends on my mood.
I haven't yet released any ALL keyboard tunes. My Korg Karma is rich with many amazing sounds and it's just a matter of me putting the guitar down and messing with it.
It has great organ, strings, horn sounds, some pre-programed voices, and of course 'weird' sounds. An amazing keyboard if I may say so.
Thanks again man for your nice coments and am glad you enjoyed it, and others.
Randy
Thanks again for listening to one of my later tunes.
This was done in Pro Tools which is a comprehensive program that takes several months to learn, plus having the right hardware to start with.
I used a combo of loops and my own playing in this song. Putting loops together and making them fit into the tune seemlessly is the key.
As far as creating a track like this, not sure how far Garageband will take you.
I have never used any other program so I can't compare.
Thanks for listening and am glad you liked the song.
Thanks a lot for reviewing one of my country tunes. My main roots are country, but I also do Blues and Rock some.
This particular tune took me about 2 months to put together. I used loops in parts that I don't play or own an instrument myself.
I usually use live recorded drum sets from www.betamonkeymusic.com as you usually have a choice of 16 or 24 bit wav files for drums. Not synth type drums you usually hear or make with a software program. Or if you have a drum machine, they do very well too. This kind of country don't take much drums so I am referring to my other tunes I did as well. Particulary rock.
I play 6 instruments so that helps too. All the other parts were done with the help of loops.
The Cajun part was made with the hep of a friend of mine in Louisianna.
wow all your replys appear to me like 3x the length of the review, i feel i have to say alot now,,
anyway as i said im m last review great mixing again, you have to share your secrets great guitar playing =D i loved it, although this would be a very highly talented punk band if you were in it, lol
Haven't heard from you in a long time, but that is okay...there are so many good artist on here, no one can get to them all. Over 130,000 members and over a 100 joining each day...it seems!
Glad you liked this tune as far as this Punk one. Someone said here, punk bands don't play this well. Ha Ha. I don't know as I never played punk myself. To me, it was just a tune I wanted to try.
I can do several more I suppose, but it depends on my mood I guess.
This was made from one of the many loop disk I have.
Basically you put loops together like a puzzle and then adjust everything to make it soumd good.
I always try and buy 24 bit loops if I can as they are better quality and then bounce-to-disk back to 16 bit for CD's.
I do play guitar on many of the tunes I put up or bass, and put in drums...whatever I want in the tune.
Sorry about the long replies, but I like to explaining things so young musicians such as your self can hopefully learn something from me.
Hey Randy...now I'd love to be able to play this well(In my dreams!)...very reminiscent of Al Dimeola..with that beautiful precise and expressive sound..I like the added electronica as well...what with all the various genre categories here I'd call this Latin Fusion...hehe..great listenable tune that is way enjoyable..cheers planet :)
Just happened to be online when your mail came thru.
Glad you liked the 'Latin fusion' tune. ha ha
Yeah, a few other members expressed interest in Latin music, so I decioded to give it a shot with the Nylon guitar loops disk I had, with mixing in a little 'noises'in the rhythm area.
Thanks for checking out this tune as well. I am happy that like everything you hear from me thus far.
I appreciate your nice comments.....I'll make more as I have time. I'd review another of your songs, but you only have 2 up and I reviewed both of them already. :)
When I see 3 guitars for a avatar I know something good is going on. Man I like this number specially that slide!! I am pretty new here so just getting around I wil be checking out some of your other tunes also. I just uploaded a three cord progression tune you mihg like !! Nice Job !! Filaofsoul
Guess I was recomending this song to you and you already played it. lol
Anyways, I am glad you liked it. As I mentioned, I entered this in a song contest, so we'll see what happens in March if I get just a notable mention or a win.
Thanks for the nice comments...and I did check out your other tunes.
Wow..you are so gifted ...playin like you do..mixing all of it together and sounding just perfect..in play different instruments too..nothin like what you can do..
Have you made professional cd recordings..if not you should...
Peace ...Dvibe
I am glad you stopped by and took a listen and reviewed this tune. This was a shorter one.
I haven't done anything professional yet as I am still learning my Pro Tools software. Only been doing software music for a little over a year.....altho when I was younger, I had my own band and played all the 6 instruments I can play...listed in my profile.
Depending on the song we played at the time, I would play this or that instrument. This allowed more diversity in the songs we could do.
I liked country -rock music as that is what we played. Now I mix my own playing with loops I buy.
I cannot play drums, so I get them from
www.betamonkeymusic.com These are live recorded drums in 12 or 24 bit mostly. I choose 24 bit to work with.
I also have all my songs mastered in a studio.....or some I do myself as I am learning about it myself.
Usually a person that mixes and masters their own song...can't do both equally well.
Take care and thanks again for your comments.
(Guess I need a good vocalist next).
ZZ top all the way..man can you play that guitar..nice tone..and upbeat to this track..very nicely done...Dvibe
