Cool track my man!

When I see the genre blues, I'm always scared a bit...you know same chord structures, solos, clap and again :-)
But this is a bit chillis blues with the tasteful play of Ed and with those key solos...so it's cooler than the other tries here...

Handshake, Danke

thanks, I tried to mix it up a little . Although I struggled on the bridge finding the correct chords. But with Ed playing it all jelled together.

Flute and sax are the highlights of this wonderfully smooth jazzy gem! Brilliant playing and production for the hugely pleasing retro feel! Excellent work, Pat! Faved!:)

Thanks for the nice words. I have been using some my keyboard sounds vs VSTs for the horn parts. Discovering the keyboard has some fairly realistic wind instrument patches. PDMuzak

Incredible production! Everything is completely smooth and beautifully constructed. The intro reminded me of the Phantom of the Opera. Jazz is one of my favorite genres to hear, and this did my ears justice. I love the great sounds of all of the woodwinds being played. Thank you for sharing!

I love jazz also , but I never played much of it when I was in bar bands. Out here in Nebraska it was country or old rock. Peace --Pat

Thanks. I actually threw this together kind of fast so I wouldn't forget my vibe. I may re-mix it later to get the roughness out. PDMuzak

Hi.

This isn't my kind of genre but there's some really good playing here. Also excellent, smooth production. A very clean sound and a ton of musicality. Very 70s sort of lounge easy listening.

Very consistent vibe and groove throughout but it works well.

Congrats on some fine playing.

Thanks for nice comments. This song has been nagging me in the back of my mind for awhile , so I had to lay it out to leave room for new material. PDMuzak

I agree with what has been said about the musicality on parade here. The flute and sax solos are very smooth. all the best. Dan

Thanks, the flute and sax tracks were directly recorded from my keyboard. The rest were all VSTs keyed from my keyboard. PDMuzak

That little section around .25 in reminded mw a wee bit of swinging shepherd blues (even though its entirely different)...just the chiffy flute lead I guess (my age is showing)...I have known of your playing talent for a long time Pat....but your composing talent is certainly on display in this one...I suppose its not something (or a genre) that a majority of LM folks may recognize,...but man...you are one rare talent...and one for whom I have the utmost admiration and respect...I really did enjoy the listen to this one...definitely a fav....a tip of the hat to you my friend...I`ll mail you on an idea I have....Ed

thanks Ed. Lately I have been working a lot of overtime in rotating shift work. Which leaves me no time. The obscure thing about it is when I am short on time my creative process is actually enhanced. When I sit down for 4 hours of uninterrupted time , my mind goes blank. Go figure. Pat

You are a talent to be reckoned with Pat...they should be playing you on my radio instead of the stuff thats there....so get yourself booked into a venue around here & I`ll buy a ticket (& tell everyone I know) and come listen to you all night....its classically good my friend with your own special spices added to bounce it up a few more notches...I like the way you seem to be able to walk through the additional keys in those transitions....o.k.... standing ovation from this ol boy out on the prairies....keep em coming.....Ed

Sounds like the blues to me, made me sad as hell. :( lol

I think some compression to the mix might do this a world of good but it works the way it is. Nice separation of the instruments, they all have a place and job to do and it's all good. Well done!

Hi Pat,
Listened to this on a sunny Thursday ... and it works very well! ;-)
Outstanding track:
- the bass line is a real highlight!
- drums are simply perfect
- your solo work is brilliant!!!!!
You manage to solo for 8 minutes on a simple sequence of chords and it never gets boring. WOW!
The sound of sax and guitar is very good: in some parts it could be mistaken for the "real thing".
Once more a prove that you are a super musician.
Ciao, Domenico

PDMuzak replied 20th Aug 2015 - 9 years ago
Thanks for the kind words. The drums were actually dubbed from my keyboard. It took a lot mixing to create a real drum sound. I couldn't find a proper slow 6/8 blues drum loop so I just settled for the keyboard drums.

Hey,
Nice job, An awesome relaxing song, and not the boring go to sleep kind of relaxing, the kind that keeps you excited till the end of the song.
the electronic instrument at the end of the song makes it even cooler than a cliche chill music.
as the other guys who had commented before me, I believe no lead is needed, but it's your song and you know better what you have in mind than me and I'm certain what you have in mind is pretty awesome.
keep it up

Very good song: I like it even without leads.
Of course a warm-sexy Sax part would be the icing on the cake here.
Well done.

Thanks for the kind words. I did this 2 years ago and almost deleted it from my drive and decided to mix the clunky leads out that I had. It seems to be a lot cleaner without them. PDMuzak
