This is a really nice track - very relaxing. My only comment would be that it might benefit from a bit more work on the percussion, perhaps some addition or change through the track, other than that great work!
hi LividKicks, many thanks for your useful suggestions - I followed them: updated track incorporate now some fine vocals, more jazz hi hats, and also some drums...
Again thanks for your nice comments.
Alex
Back to check another one out for you, mate totally loving this track, very nice intro, brilliant use of the vocals, this is something I could listen too all day, very nice chillout vibe and groove about it, impressive work in all area's...Massive fav matey...Peace n Respect...Mosaic...
Thanks Mosaic! Im really happy that you discovered and enjoyed this one! It's a combination of different things, but probably one of my best songs on looperman. Thanks again,
Alex
Dig that rhodes keyboard. the intro reminds me a little of something from houses of the holy by led zeppelin. I like the simplicity of the piece, the way you've blended the keys with that heavy bass and percussion is excellent.
This is a very calming track and now i feel like i could just shut up my lap top and drift off into a peacefull sleep (and i don't mean that the track is boring)
Very nice piece.
FR
hi and thanks for the nice comment. I checked out 'houses of holy' by LZ. It sounds quite different but maybe you could precise what is similar in there to my track... anyway I just updated my track: adding vocals, percussions and drums...
More groovy and chill now...
Thanks again,
Alex
haha! so nice to be able to know someone who could somehow embrace all the the sounds created into an existance yet still not there but far-distant and far away...
thanks a lot Dan!
Alex
hey there, thanks for the message!
firstly great and subtle use of my loop, glad you used it in such a nice track. really like it a lot, smooth and gentle, yet always stays interesting and with detailed textures. mix doesn't tire the ears at all, it's clean and well-defined. i think i'd be quite proud of this track if i made it.
cheers :)
From the intro this is sounding really good. Nice chilled out jazzy vibes going on with some excellent rhodes keyboard.
Digging the percussion and the atmosphere, it all gels together really well and the mix quality is superb as well. You can really play and it shines through in this piece.
Very impressed with this indeed and i think it has to be my fav tune of the day.
FR
hi again and sorry for late reply. I am really happy you enjoyed this song and it's so nice to read your comment.
This track is almost entirely driven by my keyboard playing but Im still looking forward to develop more the jazz keyboard skills as Im actually a classically-trained player. Thanks again for your kind words - glad you liked the track! Best, Alex
Deep mellow chill vibes. I actually gotta a new track I'm working on incorporating some electric piano and chords. This one is pretty smooth, real chill nature to it. I'm in a chill mood but that's pretty much always after a long day's work. lol But naw, I've gotten some extra music work done and other stuff. Anyways, real grooving production bro. peace
hi GramoChopin, thanks for checking this one! Let me know when you eventually will release your new track with e piano - I will listen to it!
Thanks for yout time and comments, Alex
Outstanding keyboard improvisation Alex. This song is just about as chilled as it gets. Great pacing throughout. Loved the mix on it as well. There is a lot of great things going on in this one. One of the best songs I've heard this week.
Stellar work Alex and a song worthy of being a favorite. Thanks for sharing it with all of us. I hope all is well.
hi Bear, sorry for a slow reply on this one. It's so nice to read your very kind comments - thanks a lot! Really glad you enjoyed my playing and the track - more music soon!
Greetings, Alex
your improv is very natural and flowing. enjoyed it a lot. it's a pleasure to hear the subtleties of your percs and effects. beautiful work. all the best.
Well, I kind of have to comment if I am mentioned in the track description. This could be the first time I have inspired anyone to compose a piece of music (that I know about).
I didn't think it would sound like my track though I thought maybe there would be shuffle groove led by ride cymbal.
You've chosen a different type of groove but I was sure the track would be very chilled out, just like mine.
0:24 female vocal really catches my attention. Also the snare on 0:30. That extra drum groove fades in nicely. Is that the EZ Drummer Funk kit? Also some good hand percussion and you keyboard playing is keeping everything together but just wandering around as things behind change . So, it's kind of the anchor to the track.
I find I'm listening more to all the other elements and not so much your lead keyboard jamming.
1:57 wah guitar is cool. Just another little background element.
Pretty creative, deep chill stuff that would be great for a late night club. Maybe one by the ocean as this has a good, spacious feel so you can get lost in it relaxing , deep chill mood.
I must say I simply wanted to make something like a cover of your 'RAofHK' song but realised it will be very hard to do in a short time. Definitely that was shuffle groove I was inspired by and also fantastic bassline in there. The original song is absolutely unique...
I keep the same tempo, tonality, chords (with some 'bridge' added) and also some drums (good point - bass drum and snare on 0:30 made with ezdrummer indeed!). So finally the song goes quite far away from the original...
Many thanks for listening closely and your comment - much appreciated.
Alex
hi and sorry for my late reply!
I am really glad you enjoyed this one - the vocals are chopped and arranged to fit the new idea. Here's the acapella I used: http://www.looperman.com/acapellas/detail/6143
Guitars and sax lines by ferryterry. Some bossa drums. Piano by me.
Thanks again for your kind words and your time.
Best, Alex
Reminds me of a song I would listen to at a fancy restaurant or even an event like a wedding or a reunion of some sort. I really enjoyed this. The vocals, the jazz instruments and the drums make this song a great one. Thank you for the piece and hope to hear more!
Nice, bit old fashioned but really chills me out after a long day so I like it ;)
The vocals go great with it and I like how you played the piano, at first the piano seemed a bit hard in contrast to the other instruments but it surely makes it stand out (not sure if intended but I guess it is)
hi, glad you enjoyed the music. Yes, the piano I used is not a 'real piano' but just a 'vst-piano':) So quite difficult to get a proper sound from it... But still sounds quite good as far I am working only with the virtual instruments currently... Thanks for your nice comment,
Alex
well, Franco (Ferryterry) is definitely the right kind of company on a Latin inspired piece of music...very tasty use of the little piano parts...and the sax goes great...about the perfect combination of instruments for the summery vibe of the track...who did the vocals Alex?....they are really good...found those couple of counds right at the end (outro) a bit unusual....enjoyed this one.....well done.....Ed
hi Ed,
many thanks for you nice comment - much appreciated!
Here's the original vocals from Oceanically: http://www.looperman.com/acapellas/detail/6143
About the piano... actually I am a piano player so here (and also on many of my other tracks) I did the piano part myself... I used a Jazz Baby vst here:) Sax-sounds are samples also from ferryterry.... I did many songs with Oceanically. Her's the newest one: https://soundcloud.com/promenade2239/blue-lagoon-ft-oceanically
I will post this song on looperman soon... but for now just wanted to let the Simple Song be more exposed for a while...
Glad you enjoyed this one.
Nice day,
Alex
I think that the problem is I am playing the piano
and sometimes double the guitar notes and of course that sounds a bit out of tune... But really good to know you
noticed that...
Greetings,
A.
It starts around 0:13 notice the guitar sounds pure and perfect in the beginning, and then it changes its sound from 0:13.
You might want to listen to it via headphones to better notice it. It sounds like a flanger effect. It makes the music instruments slightly out of tune.
Ahhh... a nice soothing, mediterranean, relaxing song. I have a cd full of acid jazz tracks that are just like this track and I love it. Ferryterry is an awesome guitarist and can play and set the right mood. Reminds me of "Girl from Ipanema" or some Stan Getz track in general. Mix sounds cool, nice piano track and horn track as well.
Well done, I live at the ocean and you've created a perfect song for the beach. Sounds like the ending, the last few seconds gets clipped off, no biggie, just letting you know.
hi, nice that you mentioned 'Girl from Ipanema' song - I like
this version with Astrud Gilberto singing and Getz on sax. a lot! And yes a summery athmosphere is something I was trying to bring here... Glad you enjoyed it.
Nice day,
Alex.
PS. Actaully I looped some guitar phrease to end the song like this... :)

A moment of perfect improvisation .... probably not obvious to achieve with the only introduction, of a percussion part. But a very coherent whole.

thanks a lot Dan!

The links to the loops sounds perfect. The flanger sound-effect is not there.
I think, you have put an effect on it, that you are not aware of, or it could be a bug in the DAW.
I suggest you listen to it via headphones, so you can notice it.
and sometimes double the guitar notes and of course that sounds a bit out of tune... But really good to know you

You have probably not done it intentionally.

And yes, this kind of music is actually slightly out of tune, haha.
Again: no processing added to the loops:)

A really good track. However there is an effect that destroys the natural sound of the instruments. I think, it will sound much better without it.
Could you tell me which effect destroys the sound? There's not much effects added here...
