Alex, this is a pretty nice mix. I like the fact that you took it and made it your own without completely disassembling Cru's original sounds. The sax, (which I'm generally not a fan of at all) actually sound really good in there. Good ear for that. The beat, is a good one. It's not one that's too obnoxiously DnB. but it doesn't drag out either. It keeps things moving quite nicely. Overall, it's just a nice chill piece that should be listened to more than once...as I've done.

Take care.

thanks a lot for your nice words valvedriver - I'm glad you liked this version.
I just updated my remix - new one is energetic, intense and dark. You may like this new version as well!

I appreciate your comments. Yes, I tried to stick with the original as much as I can but there's some limitations. It's because I can't separate the pads or other single elements from the original recording the way I really want. But anyway the musical result is unpredictable each time and this is probably the most interesting thing in this process.
thanks again for listening to my music. Best to you, Alex

Another good one Alex. Love the solos throughout. Sounds like your going to do more work on it. Will be really cool to hear what changes you make.

Always a fan of your stuff man. Keep em coming

Oh btw, that devaodeva character is a bot. It just left a simple comment to get a download. No need to thank it haha. Whenever you put a track for download that requires a comment, the bots leave generic comments. They should be programmed to say things like 'Whoa, really liked what you did in the intro' or 'That chorus is so catchy' lol

Yes, I am listening currently to 'Bachelors of science' to get the actual idea of dnb. I hope I will make some improvements on this track soon - it's far too monotonous as a dnb.
it's good to know about the bots hahaha. The other day I saw people discussing them on the forums, it was funny.

Thanks for your nice comments. Best, Alex

it was a nice texture change at 4:12 when the active groove stopped and you brought the track to a close from the there. interesting solos and sax sounds. nice work!

it's more and ambient track than dnb now - maybe I will rework it soon. Best to you, Alex

Wow,Nice remix maybe you can do one for my tournament track to turn it in Drum and Bass genre :D

my track link : https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/161573

Also if you accept I could give you my midi file plus all the original sound in loop so you will be able to do a deep remix.

Interesting mix of influences here. The sax sounds great with the sub-bass parts. I can't say im a huge fan of the percussion though. It's too glitchy for my taste.

nice double post:) - thanks again! maybe I will develop or edit this song soon. I wanted to make some sweet and liquid electronic drum and bass but finally this is an instrumental fusion (as always) - probably my second attempt on dnb ever.

Very enjoyable track to listen to! I guess my old fashioned ideals place this under an electronic or psy trance label more than techno, but I suppose I'm judgemental (as well as mental). I liked the arpeggios very much, as well as your use of my snare loop. I think the biggest thing missing is the low frequencies. Had my sub most of the way cranked and the volume up a good amount, and there really was no low end. Can't quite say what would be causing the problem, but especially for a tech track it would help to fix it. Maybe there wasn't much of a bass line to begin with I guess, so I won't put the blame on you... heh. I liked the flow of the song very much though! Keep at it!
promenade2239
promenade2239 replied 7th Nov 2014 - 11 years ago
hey,
yeah the bass line was lost when processing and mixing and so on... anyway you can hear it better: https://soundcloud.com/promenade2239/surreal-ambiences-tt-edit but not sure if it is good enough on your listening system - this is earlier version of the track...

I suggest you to listen closely to some jazz or classical tracks like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H51xGk0lMwk
or
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZQejr9lPn0
and see if it will somehow fit your system. If not there's no need to continue.

I can hear the music anyway... even though I do not have any sophisticated listening system at the moment.

Here's my today's drum and bass:
http://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/161597

Again my main focus is on the music.
Probably my monitors aren't big or good enough to generate the actual low frequencies but still my listening experience is amazing. AMAZING.
Again hard to explain cause Im not an en native speaker.

sometimes I don't see the actual difference between techno and jazz when starting a new tune and setting a bpm randomly on my daw.
here's some another interesting remix of mine:
http://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/161561

I hope you will appreciate at least the production and vision.

Thanks again for your thoughts. Alex

smooth keys man. digging the quirky part even more now, seems like you applied some filtering magic. its much better shaped and tamed when compared to the previous one.
vocals have a sort of miguel migs or blue six touch, i love that stuff. blends in perfectly and everything appears as one cohesive sound entity.
didn't notice any anomalies in the mix, seems nicely balanced on headphones and detailed. enjoyed it, nicely done!

With all the instrumentation choices we have now and the unlimited track numbers provide its always tempting (for me anyway) to add something more..I sometimes find it useful to go back later and question how each part contributes to the mix...and delete any that do not....I really like this one the way it is Alex...there is enough room to add more (particularly in the lower-mid frequencies) and that may be good too..there is nothing against having some fun with our music......at present each parts sits nice and clearly in the mix and it still carries a fairly minimalist vibe...Sounds good to me....well done guys.....Ed
promenade2239
promenade2239 replied 30th Oct 2014 - 11 years ago
thanks a lot Ed,
Yes, sometimes I can work in reverse, removing the elements... I am questioning this one as well at the moment.
This tune is experimental - my attempt in unknown electronic genre inspired by DanceDemagogue who makes a dark-electronic stuff. He added far-out ambient elements to it.
It is my remix over his remix. The bassline was lost during the process I did. There's some limitations cause I am working on an old laptop - I pushed it to it's limits by this one anyway.
I am still looking forward to create simple instrumental acoustic piano/epiano music.
Im glad you liked this one - many thanks for your thoughts! It's appreciated.

Very nice, minimalist arpeggios sort of a hybrid of techno and trance but like you I enjoy Phillip Glass and a very minimalist structure so I think it's just fine the way it is nice work Alex

Thanks a lot Steve. It's really nice to hear you enjoyed this track. I am happy you had a chance to hear developed version - the song was initially quite simple. After reading the MWRatridge comment I thought of reworking it again but didn't know how to make a progress - DanceDemagogue sent me today his remix - my new version is based on his work.
I really like minimal-music. Probably the 'Variations for winds, Strings and Keyboards' by Steve Reich http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xb6vtl_variations-for-winds-strings-and-ke_music will be my favourite ever - I can't remember how many times I was listening to this.

There's a lot of things happening along the track now so I do not know if it's 'minimal' anymore, but of course it still can be, if needed...
Thanks for your time and nice comments on this track - it's always appreciated. Alex

Nicely done, Alex. I don't listen to techno or electronic styles much anymore, but use to get into it in it's heyday. I remember jamming to Kraftwerk on a Simmons drum kit with friends, back in the old days. Things have really changed since than.

Anyway, good job!

Cheers,
Scott

promenade2239 replied 28th Oct 2014 - 11 years ago
Thanks a lot Scott! It's a bit unusual for me as well and as I said when responding to other comments below: it's an experimental track! The basic idea here was to create minimal and repetitive electro music. I really like kraftwerk and older german electronic - good point! So again: this one is just my attempt to make an electro track - the 'techno' label can fit all older electro-music genres!
Thanks again for your time and nice comments - it's always appreciated! Alex

thank you for your comment Mark!
I think the minimal-music always sounds a bit unfinished. This is an experimental track of mine - it seems like it's repetitive indeed but actually there's a great amount of slightly changing things going on there. But still that's only my personal preference - I like american minimal-music like Phillip Glass or Steve Reich. Some people may find it boring and that's ok.
Thanks again for your time and review. Alex
