That bass almost blew me into another universe, I think I have the super woofer setting on...yikes.
Love the laid back vibe of this. Got no where to go, nope, just gonna sit here and do...nothing...LOVE IT! Everything is well done, hats off to this dynamic duo!
Ohhhhhhh, wait, this reminds me of Prince, yep, all Shai Dawn needed to do is that high voice thing he does lol.
No critique here, just a massive amount of respect for a job well done. The fact you were able to use a vocal track in a different tempo makes this one all the more impressive.
I wouldn't change a thing. I think indie/trip hop works just fine for the genre and I would love to hear more like this one.
Really well done Cognac, really, really great effort. Props to you and the great vocalist. I hope all is well.
Superb. Only comment from me is in mixing, in some parts the cymbals and snare bottom sound a little too front and center and dominate a little too much for my taste. The instrumental and the vocal really compliment each other well. Strong rhythmic arrangements.

I appreciate your honest feedback! Thanks for the complements. As far as the mix goes I'm pretty much still learning as I go & this type of feedback allows me to go back an pay attention to the specific areas that you mention. I appreciate you for that as well!
I don't like that vocal (she sings adorably but this one is not to my taste), I don't like this acoustic sounding rock genre that much and yet I ADORE this track!!!!
So what planet are you from any way with this kind of musical talent?
This is gourgeous music.
So are you actually playing all those instruments (it sounds like live instruments)?
Every aspect in this song are great.
The mixing and dynamics, the vocal arrangement, the instrumental arrangement and the way you interweave the instrumental with the vox.
Incredible even.
Really digging the ending with the guitar and the psychedelic synth coming in. And the drums!!
Excellent job.
First off, thank you for your encouraging words. Secondly, I'm from a small planet called Earth..lol. I'd have to give credit for my sounds to my software. The drum kit I used is just one of many great kits found in Logic Pro X and I processed my guitars with Native Instruments Guitar Rig5. So to answer your ?, nothing was live, just midi with hours of sorting through effects. Also..the vocals were initially a challenge because in their original form they are about 90 bpm's, I had to cut them and move them around until I found a seemingly right fit. I'm really glad you enjoyed it & really appreciate your attention to detail!
Great Track! I really like the feeling of this track and the vocals fits perfectly with the beat. This track tells a story and the beat just makes me feel so good. This track has soul, rhythm, and is a great story teller. All things I look for in a great song like this! Thanks for the listen, great work!
Thanks a lot for the feedback Modnex!! The finished sound of the song actually caught me off guard as well. The track was done before I actually found the vocals..I guess I got lucky..lol.
This is some quality stuff right here! I really like these melodic creative vocals! The guitar parts are played well and processed with style. Can't say I've heard many songs with this kind of style, and I hope to hear more! I'm not one to go out of my way to listen to pop music, but I'm glad I did this time! (Your mention of indie and trip hop convinced me) Mixing is spot on, and the master is mild like a pop song should be. Well done!
Thank you my friend. I really can appreciate you paying close attention to the processing that I put into the vocals & guitars. I also agree that when I put everything together there was a certain chemistry between the track & her voice. I generally let folks decide what genre it is. I'm also generally weary of the "Pop" label as well but it fits in somewhat. Thanks for the complements on my mixing as well. It's communities like this that actually help me grow my craft. Thanks again Spivkurl!!
I'm truly appreciative & humbled by your feedback!! I really do make music for the enjoyment of others , hoping that I can give even a fraction of what I've gotten from it. I strive to stay true to the art. P.S.Don't sell your gear though..lol You got music to make!
glare of sunlight squint hint of the mint scent bent from the pinch of reality meant to seek or see me splash dream awakes we together bring in things only seen in dreams must be we intertwined rhyme to me if we are we indeed proceed like weeds flow from breath of breeze window open leads eyes to see streets lined with pleads of rings of passion and sings to us a modern day theme of how to fly without wings sounds so surreal yet broken shards beams light into a cascade place me where we should be beyond dreams of you and me as we are true indeed we....one.........totally awesome sound art here truly ...much peace be upon thee....chill!!!!!!!!!!
Don't know if you'd call this Rock...
What ever this track is smokin, that voice is so good
and you put it in the right place to let it shine...
Really very well done...I like everything about this...
the guy is a total idiot Cognac...and as you say he makes good sound bites...funny like somebody from centuries back...but a sad statement on evolution....on the other hand tye concept and music is just right (a bit minimal...the necessary ingredients)..to leave ndoubt about the words....right on...Ed
Yeah, this is pleasantly F'd up! Great chopping of the vocal samples, it's like all over the place, but it flows great! Awesome rhythm and synth work that go very well together! This is nice and minimal, but it's not boredom inducing. Fun to listen to! Fave!
Let me tell you why I appreciate this, Until your comment, I never knew who Massive Attack was. I went & checked out a few of their videos. It's an honor to be mentioned as sounding similar. So, not only do I thank you for listening but thanks for opening my eyes up to some new influences.
Hi mate what a great track. Trip Hop in my book! Simple but effective, you have worked the pella well, its minimal in composition and that's part of its attraction. Lovin it. Very well done!!
Thanks Sir!!! Funny thing is I really wasn't sure what genre to put this under so I kept it simple..lol. I'm glad you liked it. I wasn't sure what type of reception I would get. Thanks for listening, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Yo. I like the reverse fade in starting on about 0:16.
Good lead in to the bass, drums and vocal.
TO be honest, they're not at all my sort of vocals but they're pretty good and I understand that lots of people like that style of singing.
0:47 good drop of the synths as they were taking up quite a bit of space.
1:02 drop of beat makes for good variety. This is a bit dubby, a bit dancehall.
1:22 new clappy sort of snare is more good variety.
This is a pretty non-stop vocal track that people can definitely dance to. They'll like grooving to this on the dancefloor.
The drops are good because they allow people to vary their dancing and build up and break down their movements.
This is good work. My one recommendation in terms of structure would be to have a break from the vocals before the final end section.
I guess the vocal intensity is good but I might prefer to hear a bit more of the supporting music. Some sort of good solo would be really cool. Guitar solo would be quite unexpected.
The banging drum & synth mix really is a neat contrast with the easy flowing vocal...like the subtle melody in the breaks...outro part in particular...nice clean production...well done guys......Ed
Hey man - lovin your work - great to find another looper into building dance tracks from these bold voices. Always surprised more folks don't use harmonizers to create the backing vox from them. Thanks for the links to the originals too - sometimes miss the strong ones up here.
Kind of a dub avante garde approach on this one. Nice crisp mix, some nice work done on it for sure. Nothing to critique here. An interesting approach and an interesting song. Very nice percussion elements throughout. I enjoyed it. Well done!
Bear, I appreciate your input. I always enjoy feedback from a music enthusiast. I honestly am not sure what sound I was shooting for on this one but once we wrote the song we knew it was worth sharing. Thanks!
