Truly EXCEPTIONAL .... A range of good musicians, a divine singer, there are here all ingrediens for to listen to high quality music and catchy..
Congratulations to the team and a big thank you for sharing this strong moment ....
Chapeau bas, Ã vous tous ....
Hello there Scott! First let me shout out to Janis and say I love the tone of your voice...kinda reminds me of Basia. I love the instrumentation as well...Janis'vocals seem to be in the rhythm pocket for the most part, and that's pretty cool that you were able to do that. However, I do also hear some clashing going on which sometimes makes her vocal seem out of tune...for instance around 1:17 where she sings the word "dry" there seems to be a disconnect for a second..then it's right back in the pocket until the disconnect happens again. Perhaps if you take Janis up on her offer to lay a fresh vocal over your wonderful instrumental that would solve the problem. Other than that, I have to say Well Done!
Thanks for your comments. I have contacted Carole and am taking her up on the offer to lay fresh vocals. I have always loved her vocals, and you're right, she does sound like Basia since you mentioned it. Hopefully, you will hear a new version.
Thanks again, Carole. I thought that's what you were singing, but wasn't sure. Not sure what it means, but you are the poet. Chloroform puts you to sleep, so guess it means your soul is sleeping?
Hi Scott and Franco :)
I do like the instrumental, sounds awesome ! I know how tough it is to adapt "out of the blue" pellas to a music piece and you managed quite right but I think this track deserves real singing . Next time, I'll be glad to sing for you if you wish me to :)
Thanks a lot for the wink,
Greetz
Carole
I'm delighted that you approve of OUR track. Yes, it is tough to work with pellas, but Franco does a great job with this task. I think it would be amazing for you to put new vocals to the track if you are interested in taking it on. I can send you the track minus the vocals and you can do your thing. I will contact you with my email.
My friend, this is clearly NOT constructive criticism! It's criticism to make you feel better about yourself. You will find it more beneficial to learn from this community. We are all willing to help if you need it, and clearly...Nuff said!
I was a bit perplexed by your comment! I have certainly NEVER commented negatively about another member's track, and I will not start now, but I did give a listen to all of the tracks you have uploaded on your page and I can understand why you find our track "out of sync!" After listening to your work, I am no longer perplexed by your comment, but we thank you very much for your left handed words.
Wonderful Song. I have to repeat myself: the vocals from Carole are simply wonderful and you have used them in a beautiful way. Maybe it could have been interesting to hear a more "complex" text but repeating the bits you have worked pretty well.
The drums are perfect: love the fill at 2:05
The overall drum sound is incredibly tight and "professional".
Kudos to Franco as well: his guitar work is very balanced and subtle. Exactly what the song needed.
The arrangement deserves some good notes as well. Maybe some more variations on the keyboard pattern could help, but it's a minor thing.
In one word: superb!
Ciao, Domenico
Thanks allot, Domenico. If not mistaken, the pellas were a combination of three, so Franco pieced them together. Wish we'd have had more. Thanks for the kind words on the drums.
This piece is well put together! Bravo Scott and Franco! Job well done by the both of you. Nice touch with the other samples too with piano and brass instruments.
Thanks, Steve. Yeah, actually I'm not a huge blues fan, either, but this one has enough jazz elements to keep my interest. Franco does pretty much all the composing for this site (we both have our individual sites that we don't collab on.)
amazing track guys!
everything is very cohesive and delicious to the ears.
love the percussions, guitar and singing!!! very authentic indeed and fantastic groove. never gets boring!
To back Danke up, Morphine are one of my favourite bands of all time. Impossible to sum up what they do except to say it's very unusual (probably unique) and very cool and melodic and interesting and so much more. Their line up was 2-string slide bass (ie played with a slide almost constantly, rarely fretted), drums and baritone sax and vocals. Very powerful sound but not a jazz group - more like a deep grooving power rock trio with the sax player very much playing the role of stunning lead guitarist.
This is good but it doesn't really remind me of Morphine.
I like the vocal on this - very gently and easily delivered and the long harmony on 'blues' is very warm and melodic.
I thought the transition on 0:48 into the drums was a little awkward and could be better.
When the track gets going, the space between the instruments is good. Those sizzly cymbals are a bit strange, though. They seem to last too long and then cut off a bit abruptly.
I think my favourite things were the vocals and guitar, which had a lot of soul and a gentle touch.
dear friends ,I was out of site & was looking to the traX & seeing a rack by U was enough for me to log in for a while just to write listening to your traX is always a pleasure & free listen to me .
as usual of your traX , everything is welldone , professional & throughbred & worthy of greatest admirations & respects .
best wishes._____Behnam
This is such a great track and so refreshing to find music with some real construction and so very well executed. I love your production style and it fits the vocal so well. Great feel. Love the rhythm guitar and those drums are excellent. Great job and thanks for pointing me here. I'll be a regular visitor here I think.
Thanks so much, Richie. I really love this song and Patricia's pella is sooooooo Good! I know we three feel the same when it comes to music with 'real construction.' I know I have paraphrased similar words when commenting on your tracks. Let's keep showing these kids what music really is.
Wonderful song. Simply wonderful.
The guitar is outstanding: loved the first solo, simply beautiful. Maybe the rhythm guitar could be a bit more present in the mix (?)
And the "theme" which is played at "unisono" with the singer is great.
The drums, what can I say here... what a great drummer!
Very well played and with a great technique.
Only "improvement" possible, maybe the fill-solo around 2:30 (I like the idea of going "rock" for few seconds, but the tom-fills are a bit "too much" in my humble opinion). The second time this is done in a more subtle way and I liked it more (around 4:10)
I almost forgot the sax solo... wow!
Definitely a professional track.
Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful piece of music with us.
Looking forward to hearing more from you!

Thanks allot, Domenico. Very concise comment. I'm getting quite a master's class in Latin and Brazilian music (this is Scott, BTW) in my collaborations with Franco and his pals. I've studied the styles, but had very little opportunity to put it to use.
Wow this guitar-voice scat in unison is terrific !!
I'm not used to latin jazz but I had a delicious moment listening to this jewel of technicity .
My humble compliments to you both,
Bises
