Acid Pro 8 Released By Magix

Posted on 2018-04-25 in Audio Chat7 Comments41535 Views

When Acid was first released by Sonic Foundry back in 1998 it revolutionised how producers worked with loops and soon became a very popular alternative to linear alternatives such as cubase and logic. The beauty of Acid and its main difference to other music software of the time was that you could simply drag audio loops onto the timeline and they would instantly sync with the tempo of the track. It was also simple to adjust the key of loops and so quickly create and edit your tracks without prior knowledge of more traditional composition techniques. These days those same ideas have been incorporated into most DAWS available.

Back in 2003 Sonic foundry sold Acid along with other titles to Sony and then in 2016 Acid changed hands once again to its new home with German software company Magix.

After what seems a long time in the shadows Acid has been given an a long overdue update with the release of Magix Acid Pro 8 and Magix Acid Pro 365. Acid pro 8 is available as an upgrade or fresh purchase and Acid pro 365 being available on a subscription basis.

New Features

Whether you are making 24-bit, 192kHz multitrack recordings, mixing with multiple effects in real time, or composing with dozens of plug-in instruments – thanks to its new powerful 64-bit architecture, ACID Pro 8 will step up to the plate and offer all the latency free power you need and support for state-of-the-art 64-bit instruments.

With the new interface, MAGIX has redesigned the GUI to enhance working in a dimmed environment and further improve ACID Pro's famed ease of use. The sleek and modern interface makes navigating and editing a breeze.

MAGIX has also added over $1000 of instruments, loops and effects to ACID Pro 8. There's powerful virtual analogue synthesizer from DN-e1; first-class effect plug-ins and high-quality audio tools from essentialFX Suite; screaming guitar effects by way of Vandal SE; flexible and high quality sampling from Vita 2; plus 11 Vita solo instruments that cover everything from Pop Drums to Cinematic Synths. ACID Pro 8 also comes with a 9GB library of all new ACIDized loops and samples.

Acid Pro 365

With ACID Pro 365, MAGIX now also offers a flexible subscription service. Users get all the power and functionality of the regular ACID Pro 8 but enjoy all future updates, full support plus additional instruments and effects for a monthly fee from $7.99.

has anyone used Acid Music Studio 10.0? it's weird how i can't get the real timer timer to work as just the seconds lol
for example instead of like when it reaches more than 60 secs instead of like putting 1:10 it would end up putting 70 secs etc

    oh well lol
and it the program freezes briefly sometimes too

Cool man. Thanks for that word. I like to use ozone as a plugin rather than a stand alone and it is something I use on every track so maybe with the 64 upgrade I can do a little more with it...T2

@TRE24...if you are just using Acid to record vocals you will make out just fine with any of the versions...the main benefit to the new version 8 is the ability to run 64 bit there are some decent instruments with it...I wouldn`t buy it for any of the loop content (but I`m not a big loop fan anyway)...I have been using 8 for about a fine & just as straight forward as 7...I find myself using both 7 & 8 as I have some fav vsts that are 32 bit...Its a good investment for the price from my point of view....Ed

Magix has made it easier to keep track of all your files and serial numbers. Its kept all the great qualities that keeps me using Acid, and added some easy to use tools as well. I would recommend it to beginners and pros alike.

I've used Acid for almost 10 years now.
It is a program that is super simple to use at a very very affordable price.
With that being said it does not lack on quality/sound that it produces.
The previous versions I have used we're produced by Sony which is why I believe the quality is so good.
If you have ever listened to any of my music.....EVERY BIT OF MY LYRICS WERE RECORDED IN ACID with an Akai c-240 microphone. My older loops were made and recorded in acid but I have since moved to FL Studio for my loops and beat making as FL just has way more options than the older Sony Acid.
Now I haven't purchased the Magix version YET! But we'll see how it contends.

I can absolutely assure you that if Magix is anything of an upgrade to Sony Acid it is definitely worth the buy.

I will be purchasing the Magix version soon but the older version is sooo good that it still does exactly what I want it to do when it comes to recording vocals.
I'm sure they have made some upgrades to the beat making side of things to contend with FL , Logic and others.......But for someone like me, I'm interested in the live recording and the overall sound quality, rendering options and things of this nature. The work flow of Sony Acid was a godsend. From what I can tell Magix has stuck to those guns.

Like I said I will definitely be adding Magix to my arsenal soon and hope hope this helps someone.

    Good Day,
