What is unknown may be unknowable but what is unknowable is definitely unknown. Luckily, like Sgt. Schulz, "I know nothink!" I faved the heck out of this. It has sort of a japanesey feel to me, because it's so spare and unhurried. You have a way of orchestrating sounds so they really focus the mind on each sonic moment. Very lovely.
I speak only a few words of German so the lyrical meaning is opaque to me, but I enjoyed the music, especially when the female voice comes in, that really kicks it up a notch. Good job!
Strange that there are no comments so far. I found this piece very beguiling, though strange and different, mostly in a good way. It really creates a mood and I can imagine driving through the Nevada desert listening to this and pondering the universe. You give a lot of yourself in the lyrics and the way you sing them, very vulnerable and open, in keeping with the title. I do think that maybe you could think about shortening it a bit though. I hesitate to say that because it is kind of a stream-of-consciousness fever dream sort of and maybe it needs to be this long. But maybe something to think about. You have a distinctive style and I like it!
It certainly creates a mood. Some things can be simple and short. It is what it is. A haiku, for example. Should you extend it into a sonnet? Well, then it becomes a different thing. I think it can exist as a short piece - AND you can try to extend it as was suggested in another comment and see what happens. But don't lose the short piece - it's a nice moment.
Hi CitizenMoFo, I will have to check Herb Alpert out; never heard of him. :)
It is good to know that you really enjoyed the track. It certainly was fun to make and is still a work in progress(so more fun to be had). Thanks for listening and leaving your comments.
I really enjoyed this piece. Also enjoyed your description of the creative journey. Music tells you where it wants to go, doesn't it? You might think you know but it has other ideas. I think everything works here. The only thing I question a bit is the timbre of the vocals. I didn't listen to the original so don't know what you were starting with, but it's a bit machine-y for my taste; maybe experiment a bit there? (but it sounds like you already have endlessly). Anyway, great work!
After letting the track "sit" for a few weeks, I listened to it again. I think you are right about the timbre of the vocals. I think I went a bit overboard on the processing, at least in parts. Fresh ears.
This is perfect. Big fave. I used to do weird stuff like this except you do it much better than I did. Is this the Orson Welles thing? And is that Orson Welles doing the Richard Peerson line? And maybe all the voices. I actually downloaded the Orson Welles martian scare once and messed around with it, like this, but as I say yours is so much better. You musta removed a lot of noise. I laughed out loud several times. Wacky and yet totally delicious.
Oh you're so lucky. Every time I hear Melodiy's voice, I think the same thing. Actually, I think - that voice is approximately 85,000 times better than my voice; dang. Anyway, I can't wait to hear what you two come up with. I love the track, but it feels like a platform for vocals to me rather than a standalone instrumental. So I'm delighted - and jealous - that this collab is happening. I'll look for it!
I appreciate people using music to express something real - real emotion, real tragedy, real healing - rather than just another set of cliches. Beautiful.
Thank you for your acknowledgement CitizenMofo. It was a super honor and a very humbling experience to do this track and I'm grateful that it is appreciated and understand by people such as yourself!
Bravo. I really like this. Pellas are so fun to play with. I think you've matched the mood of the music perfectly with the mood of the vocals to create a very beguiling whole from the sum of the parts. And I also really like the two musical breaks. Is that music you played or are those loops? It all comes together into a seamless, soulful little musical journey.
Hello CitizenMofo and thanks a lot for this really appreciate feedback!
to answer you: no loops are used in this track, i write each line from the instrumental part.
I forgot to answer Danke's comment about the guitar solo, so if you permite me, i will do it here :)
the guitar solo has been composed with a synth guitar ^^
As you said Citizenmojo this track wouldn't be like that without the mood of the vocals. Esoreni is an unbelievable singer: It's a real crush !
I think you've started something really potentially great here. But for me the vocals are lost. I can't understand them. I think they're too deep in the piano. To me, there are two instruments here, the piano and vocal, that need to be equal. But now I think the vocal is being overwhelmed by the piano. Maybe play with horizontal placement across the listening spectrum. Just a suggestion, because I think you're onto something here but it needs a bit more massaging.
It's hard to disagree with you, as the song is no where near finished, but also wasn't sure if it was worth finishing. But now I'm thinking I might re-record after receiving such good feedback.
Thanks for taking the time out to listen and comment, really appreciated :)
Minimalist? OK, but there's quite a bit going on here. And all good stuff. A lotta loops and they all fit and flow. I know the joy of loop trial and error, discovering great grooves in the intersection of sounds, and you've definitely done it here, this is a great, head-bopping, smile-inducing groove and I really enjoyed it.
I have a Mustang and the title fits, though it would fit even better if it were called "Mustang on the Grapevine in High Winds" or "Mustang on the I5 Passing Semis at 90" but that's just me. Sounds like this is an early draft and you have some clear plans for next steps. I offer hearty encouragement (and no specifics, except that last little drum beat is brilliant), as I love the wild energy of this piece. Can't wait to hear where you take it.
Trance is not really my thing, unless I'm in a coffee bar in Amsterdam, but I enjoyed this, listened all the way through, and think it would go very nicely in an Amsterdam coffee bar.
Favealicious. I appreciate a great beat that starts pulling out lyrics from deep in your throat, especially one with some structure to it, spaces for verses and choruses laid out on the sonic landscape. Would you any objection to my playing around with lyrics for this and seeing what happens? Great stuff.
No objections; I do this for the fun of, and hearing a completed version would be fulfilling. I apologize, I'm pretty seriously an amateur at this, but I'd be happy to try to help with customizations if needed. Otherwise, you might reach out to the guy who made the original sample. Either way, feel free to use it however you'd like.
Very beguiling. (I like that word.) I'm personally quite vintage so I dig the retro vibe a lot. The beat is indeed killer - one of those ones that would be fun to clap to - and, just precisely at the point when I thought, ok this needs a break now, the break came in. Listened to the end, great headbopper!
I had sort of a smile on my face the whole time listening while aggressively bopping my head. It's like you're listening to the internal workings of the machine. Great stuff.
Really beautiful. I love the title, that drew me in, and the music is just very lovely and peaceful, true to the title. I love how it slowly unfolds, takes it's time, and the sole piano at the end is really nice. Most of all I think I love how the sonorities of the held notes of the instruments blend, something like that is very subtle but very beautiful to me. The one note I would make is that I had to turn the volume up quite a bit from the last song I listened to, so it could use some more volume, a quick master maybe. Lovely stuff.
Hey thanks for the awesome feedback, it really means a lot, and with the volume thing, I knew there was a lot going on in the song and didn't want it to be too much but I can see what you mean. Thanks again ! :)
I faved this thick groove, this head-bopping beat extravaganza. Lyrics and melodies were jumping into my head all the way through, wrapping around the beat. Are you planning to add lyrics, my friend? The one thing I didn't like was how the "demo" bit cut out at the end - I think it should finish (assuming you intend it to be there; I kinda like it).
Felt a fave coming early on. This is very, very beautiful. It's sweet, yes, but with a heavy lilt of sadness which gives it great depth. Whoever Glenda is, seems like she must be a real sweet soul.
Yeah, she's a sweet soul from Australia...can't tell you more, but I have to say big thank you for your lovely feedback and the 'fav'...means the world !:)
That's my big fat like heart. I guess I like UK Garage too cuz I like this a lot. It's pretty fantastic, head-bopper from first note to last, and that's all I can ask for on a Sunday morning.
I like it! It's full of the spirit of happiness, which is very infectious! I think part of the mix might be just a tad peaked-out, in my humble opinion, but then again that's part of the exuberance of the piece. Good work!
