Well its Summer here and hot here 33 degrees and this goes down a treat - love how you manage to sound so perfect no matter the style - Im too old to spliff up but never mind : )
gotta love a song with a complete narrative - theres a lovely gentle huskiness to your voice here and an equally lovely depth to the sound - great compositional structure too - that rhodes sure is classy too - I might grab that one myself : )
Gorgeous - does have somewhat of an old school rnb vibe in some aspects but brought right up to now with that crystal production sound and a touch of jazzy funk. Really beautiful work on the keys and amazing vocals and vocal harmonies. Very sweet vibraphone type sounds in there too. Wonderful
Epic track - beautiful composition and beautifully played and produced and very fine job with the lyric and vocal too. Love the guitar work especially - hope your friend manages to find a through.
Thanks for the listen, glad you like it. Most likely more experiments will follow in the future, really thinking of getting me a handheld field recorder. I did some before, the best is "chopsticks" but is on SC only.
Hello Nonube
Thank you so much for visiting and listening to this track. It has been a great guitar loop I had to work with, and I tried to keep all the dark (in this case the "cinematic") elements adding with the bass strings mainly some coloring, I guess what you perceive as evocative. Being on the trap side.... I hope the drum track supported this purpose.
It is a teamwork and I just hope I have respected the intentions of this excellent guitarist (the loop is a composition on its own).
My best regards, Anthony.
What a nice listen - trap hop pop - this is such a classy track - beautiful production and such gentle arpeggios and melodic elements the transitions are superb and the vocals - wow - so well mixed and mastered
wow thank u for the good review, man. Im firing on all cylinders this year, I hope to broaden my repertoire and work with even more people. Thanks for listening.
very cool - great sound, solid drums and bass and standout guitar sounds with perfect production but its the vocal performance that I really like - reminds me of the late great Chrissy Amphlett of the Divinyls (look em up if you dont know them)
nice rapping and still full of warm spirt too boot!
its 'busy' in some parts but it's always great when people break a bit from form and mix it up (I think) and a great listen
Beautiful music, vocal performance and production, being a confirmed heathen - songs of praise Im not much a fan of - but you have done this so beautifully it very lovely to listen too.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Nonube! It means the world to me that you appreciate the music, even though this genre isnt usually your preference. If I may share, Ive faced my own challenges over three decades that kept me far from any belief system, so I completely understand why you consider yourself a heathen. Thats why it means so much to me that you still found beauty in the song. I truly appreciate your honesty and support in taking the time to listen. Enjoy the rest of the new year.
Beautiful work - reminded me a little of Burt Bacharach at the start and then devolves and circles around in a dreamy lofi jazzy lushness that is never entirely predictable but somehow familiar. Very nicely produced too. Accolades well deserved
Hello, Happy New Year and what a description...
I enjoyed the way you listened to my music, it was almost reinvented the best way. Thank you for listening and commenting so beautifully.
I will soon visit to listen to your work
My best regards, Anthony.
Love it - reminds me a little of the tom tom club but has more of a quirky 'english' sound to it (if that makes any f###ing sense). Really clever in the way it draws from a wide genres of music and combines different elements, and is totally engaging with such a strong narrative and in the way it utilises rhythm through the track. Perfect production as well!
It does have a very English Nursery Rhyme feeling and it does play with your head - is it ghost children singing that or bored children from the Street, lol - I loved writing this, it kinda wrote itself. Oli's production is v intuitive - Thank you so much for your feedback, it means alot to us
Beautiful work. I noticed that heavier guitar around 224 - a little congested
Interesting comment about the speed of the phrasing with the lovely lyric - I know what he means but not sure how to give it greater poignancy. Some great songwriting, playing and production thats for sure
Thanks a lot for the thoughtful comment. I think I understand what you hear! I'll play around with that a bit.
I've changed the tempo of the song a bit since the comment of Alex so I hope it helps a bit (essentially it starts and ends a bit slower). I do have some further changes in mind... but I'll first finish some other songs :D
(for sufficiently low values of "finished", as my math prof would say).
