Pretty chill man. I like that you didn't decide to fill every single space with a note. It works as a minimal kinda stepped out tune. Don't know if I'd call this dark or just kinda cold, but I like it.
thanks for takin the time bro. glad you liked it. and yeah, i dont like when a tune is too crowded, makes it harder to pick out the different sounds if that makes sense.
thanks again.
This is crying out for a fine young ladies voice harmonizing some conscious lyrics over top of it all a la Royksopp's 'What else is there' acapella. ;)
I like avid's comments too, but here's some more from Jah. It's a good use of drops, sweeps and builds, b u t... to bring it even darker, bigger, f**ky-er... I'd do some sound engineering on the the actually pad sounds. They need some gradual modulation over the entire track. It begins to get redundant towards the end. Maybe a slight key shift change at the second drop, or extend the velocity and note length just a tad in that 2nd part. Also might wanna check the compression of the the kick, it's seems like it cancels out your his at certain DB levels. I almost wanna hear some kinda deep sub bass behind it all with a deeper even darker detuned LFO wobble. Something to sorta hit you in nads real hard.
S'real good one man.. or I wouldn't have played it 3x and written so much ;)
Love the broked up way this works out. Not quite a driven DnB sound, but rather jungle-ish. I like your post on how you chopped it up and composed it on the fly with the keys. Nice!
Hey thanks for the review. Metal sharpens metal right. So you apparently understand the "make it your own sample" concept. I never use a lot of straight samples, maybe a pad or something like that .It would be like a painter who never mixes colors. Thanks again, I'll check out your stuff.
Super cool good 1. I'd play aroound individually with specific tones maybe in the 2nd bass line. Dirty it up somehow. That synth @ 2:20 is wack good. I wanna hear the next theme made into it's own tune with a half time drum line. Tis a good reprise in that song. bass drop is swell!
Good 1 badbwoy. Jah Kmow accepts dis ting as real tings fi gwaan. A couple of post mix edits needed in levels here and there, but super good, used some samples in addition here or there.
I'd kill the 303 synth sounds and go with more clangy jangley sounds like your guitar sound. Play some tin cans and washboard. amybe granpa gomer singing in the back.
