Some cool vibes u got on these tracks. Really enjoyed the accoustic stuff too. I gotta say I love the sound of a Rhodes.

on My fusion jazzy organ by NadirSidahmed
Cool inter twining organ parts going on. Build it up with some drums and bass and a swampy bluesy vocal and it would be a cracker I reckon.

on Mole People by theHumps
But where they gonna run to?! One out of the box from you Wayne, I thoroughly enjoyed this. Drums were great and the little breakdowns were cool to spice things up. That telephone sound reminded me of one I used a while back in my reggae tune. It sets the ambience really well. All over noone home. Felt like this could almost have had some down and dirty electric guitar hitting those down beats maybe.

I'm gonna use poetic license to answer your question. They just ran away. ;)

Jeff Lynne used a ringing telephone loop in Telephone Line and I remember hearing it in another song(Beatle's song maybe).

Just playing with loops and effects. I thought of elec git but was still sore in the back, just started sitting up in front of a computer actually when I did this.

Thanks!

on priming the psychedelic drive by bringerofDOOM
been missing your guys particular madness. not sure what i liked the best, the periods of semi sanity and reflection, or the full on fusion of funkiness and jazz. crazy good sound and mix too.
bringerofDOOM
bringerofDOOM replied 8th Sep 2021 - 4 years ago
Well, had to get some work stuff lined out and ready to bring the madness back after the "period of reflection" (you pretty much nailed it). Also if been messing around with a cover band so I learned like 90+ songs in a week. I used it to study song structure, which I had never actually done, because I never bothered to learn any songs (since I know most of the theory). I have a new respect for learning simple songs.

on ballad of an asshole by xstokes
sublime simplicity, at least on the face of it. it does all it needs to, tugs at the heart strings with an uplifting sadness. well thats what i think anyway :)

that’s the crucial thing with me is fighting the urge to overplay — things start going right, i get excited, now it’s all ##### up. and a loopstation’s unforgiving. so your comment means a lot!

on How do you Like your Love - by Mr Axel by MrAxel
Great groove and I was specially digging the piano parts. This has a real uplifting happy vibe. Someone mentioned fat boy slim, I think I hear echoes of that too, maybe the piano. But I really love this, nice work man. Geez and it's disco, who would have thought lol
MrAxel
MrAxel replied 15th Sep 2021 - 4 years ago
Actually, it is Nu-Disco which is a real genre. Nu-Disco is a post-Disco genre. Adding Pop, or Rock, or even Trap to Disco turns it into Nu-Disco so Fat Boy Slim would be quite appropriate.

I had fun with one. I appreciate the comments Zoot.

Until Tea Time, Cheers!

All I can say is, from my limited experience, neither of you ever disappoint! That definitely goes for BOD too but he seems to have gone quiet of late. Have missed his music and insights.

Man what's not to like? Your voice is great, cool composition and I was digging your guitar work. Used to listen to a lot of cap beef heart and I reckon I do see where you're coming from there thinking about his kind of jerky compositions, not sure if jerky is the right word but maybe u get what I mean. Like skipping from one part to another.

Awesome work indeed, man u never fail to surprise and delight. This almost sounds a bit like HDU in one of their rare quieter moments like on lull. Love the textures, would never have thought of a sax in something like this but it fits. Will be downloading when my computer is next on!

i'd say all of the above and then some in terms of genres, but I reckon that's par for the course where you're concerned. this is a real fun track mate and funky to boot. loved the vocal samples coming in and out.

Hello zootman2u,

You're the second person to mention the sample singers that I use on most of my tracks. I feel like they give a kinda accent to the rhythm. I'm glad you liked them. Thank you for your listen and comments.

on Cream Like by Mr Axel by MrAxel
Tried to reply to your comment on my bell jar blues track but LM threw some sort of fit. Thanks mate, I'm just glad you got it! But actually the short (less than 1min) track pseudoble gave me already had a cool mix of blues and country/blue grass (?), I just gave it a twist. And to be honest, to me it's a pale imitation, and clearly derivative, of stuff Beck was doing back in the day. Try his Mellow Gold album for some true genre bending sounds. That's a true classic album for me. Anyway, i'm looking forward to hearing more tunes from you mate!

on Six Points of View by theHumps
haha nice, love the lyric - six points of view pointed at you, can't argue with that. cracker of a song, yay another humps fix!
theHumps
theHumps replied 5th Aug 2021 - 5 years ago
I watched D Boon from the Minutemen in a live clip say the line "6 points of view" describing a gun and suddenly a light bulb went off over my head. Figured I could run with that as a premise to a song.

Thanks, glad you liked it, fun one!
