Nicely arranged and textured; the range of instruments makes the track feel live and exciting. Not often you hear a flute over a wah-wah guitar sound!
The song flows fairly seamlessly, without any hiccups or guitar accidents which are suspiciously in pristine tempo; something that makes me wary that they are all samples and not very creative.
Although it sounds great for an advert, it would perform poorly on a personal album because it lacks much bite and strength; but it sounds technically proficient and interesting enough.
I find this song annoying and poorly produced; the levels on the instruments are all over the place. It's not interesting or easy to listen to. There is a poor grasp of song structure, or in musical detail; at parts the song degenerates into a mesh of uncoordinated noise.
When you are making a song, be sure to check back on different parts to make sure that some parts are not much higher than others. Also make sure that you balance the volume of your instruments, so that they are on a fairly equal level.
I would also give criticism on looperman for using this as a 'featured track'; there are much better songs on looperman than this that deserve to be featured, and some users may find themselves irritated why their track hasn't got the spotlight while this one seems to have had.
I hope you do know the "featured track" box works with a random number generator. That makes it fair to all the artist on here. You may be right about the track I made but remember this is a site for all skill levels of musicians. For instance I have only been making music for about three months. Looperman is the only way I can get instruction and tips from other musicians. So I think you should do a little research before you make PRICKISH comments about how others deserve things just because you think so and remember this site never forces you to listen to any track. plus its all free so stop yer b!tchin and take yer Midol.
The piano doesn't sound very strong from my end. You may be better off with a different instrument. It also needs a bassline.
The synth sounds fairly powerful, but it isn't hitting the right notes at the end of the riff; the extra instrument over the top of the chorus synth (a flute?) is also a little annoying.
Awesome! Strong beats, great buildups, and I like the chiptune influences. Ends too quickly!
Some of the instruments sound a bit too cheesy for me. You could add a different arrangement or an extra synth sometimes, and experiment by adding a delay onto your chip lead. The drums sound great though.
Nice melody, and well structured; you've accounted for the intro, extended verses, and the instruments work well together. Like the simple but effective approach.
Your piano sound could use some enhancing, such as a reverb, to enrich its quality. Your synth would sound better if you increased the attack and you could also use a bassline.
Great instruments, sounds really smooth. Some of the vocals suffer from clipping which really damages the track; a slight reverb on your voice could make it a little richer, as it feels a little thin. You could also try using a popshield or a different set up with your mic to enhance just how your vocals sound. The structure of the song is really strong- you obviously knew what you wanted and went for it!
This is great, very atmospheric and dramatic. The drums compliment the strings really well and its a powerful sound.
One of the samples doesn't feel like its been smoothed out properly, I hear this weird clipping sound. The piano could be levelled a bit higher as its hard to hear over the drums. The kick is dominating all your low end, you might need to turn it down if you are going to use a bassline.
The way the song is laid out is a bit confusing: you could use your song parts more effectively by 'building up' to choruses and verses. It feels slightly disorganised.
Otherwise very dark and spooky sound, like something you'd find off a movie soundtrack
This needs more work I think. The riff is okay, but you could experiment with your synth a little more for a richer sound. It needs a bassline and could use some drum FX.
The song kind of just loops without any structure; a stronger approach would be to divide the song into more tangible sections, divided with some effects or other instruments.
There's a nice pop twist on your track- kind of cute and spooky at the same time. Pretty much ready for vocals, but probably more suited towards a female voice. I like the ghostly synth part, it's a clever hook. Not bad at all!
Can't hear your vocals very well; the levels with the drums and guitar sound great, but the vocal effect makes your vox a little too weak in the verse. The samples on the chorus seem to cut out too quick and I think I hear you singing with them, but it's hard to hear. The drums could be made more interesting too.
I don't know, but try your vocals without the effect? It might help with the la-la's on the verse and make it sound more grimey. Otherwise great punk rock, fun to listen to!
thanks alot for you review, very glad you have pointed some key problems i have,I use alot of effects on my vocals as I dont like my voice & have nobody else to sing them :-)
I also mix the tracks in my headphones so sometimes the vocals sound louder than they appear on my stereo.thanks again :-)
Really liked this; strong beats and catchy riffs. Some of the structure on the quiet parts are a bit odd imo, I lose track of where the song is going to kick in again or when it's going to wind down, but it sounds massive and would tear up a dancefloor.
Really slick bass and one groovy organ. Loads of interesting things going on and the percussion sounds really real and funky.
The lead instruments sound a little too loud against the drums for me- if this is the intended style then that's okay, but the keys and bass feel a little too levelled up against the drums, cymbals and snare. The chorus area feels like there's too much of the high end going on to me. Otherwise, sounds like sex!
Pretty catchy and atmospheric! The beats and the piano are very strong and build a lot of strength to the track.
Your leads feel like they are conflicting with each other, and the choir and synth is levelled a little too high on the chorus imo. They feel like they are waving in and out which is probably something with how you're using your compressor.
