on Marshmallow eater ft Wayne by FrenchKid18
Really enjoyed this, great lyrics as always, and does invoke that laid back and lazy approach, great balance of the highs and lows over the solid hip hop beat yeah, this is marsh mellow! love it.

Never heard the looperman song, but this is a stand out track in its own right, kicks in nicely right from the start, catchy vocoder with some great sounds and beats, really well done man, could go an extended version of this for i had to hit it twice. nice one brother.

I forgot about this track, but I'm glad you liked it. The looperman song was a big collab (with smaller collabs inside of it) which was people volunteering to get their style of music into a big compilation. Unfortunatley, this one didn't get in because the tempo change was too awkward to mix into the final thing and because halfway through this song I lost refx nexus which was the majority of my sounds in this track.

But still, I'm glad you liked it, thanks for the review!

Thanks for makin' me smile Salook.I do love old Prince,The Time,Isley bros..good old funky stuff.
I don't know much about production but for a novice i've found the less parts I have to mess with the better and just stick to guitar and let the other talented people on this site do the hard parts.I don't make beats but now I have looperfriends that do!
Thank you again,

Allen

on The Examined Life - Jumping into the Waters mix by n0mad23
Thought i would take the plunge while i was on the loop.
Just magical this track is, it just oozes the feeling of deep innocence and emotion. the water is safe here!
Love how the percussion just sits in the backdrop, the emphasis on the happenings in the forefront, spiritual yes. i heard the crow pop up i just hope the deeper the water gets the safer it remains.
Great head visuals you create with your music. brilliant stuff.
n0mad23

It does tease out the optimistic happy emotional places, doesn't it? As I've been playing with the other version trying to finalize it, I'm quite surprised about how intense the percussion is in this one. However, the bass and melodies completely change the feeling, and jack it straight into those happy places. The field recordings seem to add polish to this, and make it even happier somehow. If you listen carefully at the beginning, when the bass drum joins in, you can hear a coyote singing to a train whistle, too, but in this context doesn't feel the least bit ominous. Still trying to consciously figure out why this stuff works! Thanks for the encouragement my friend.

Yeah, for a school project this was one of the shorter things I've had to do. Truth be told I would've loved to have this playin for the entire speech. As for the other, nada prob mang. Figure it'd be fun for others to play with. Glad ya dug it. Lates!

[This and previous reviews are for Draft #2]

Oh yes, very melodic piece of fusion, this has some great depth and the percussion is tough, definite sense of equilibrium even if you feel you haven't achieved it yet... its there.
Had to hit this up twice, second listen i can here more sounds starting to tease out, alot of things happening here, another mix of traditions only you can pull off. looking forward to the final draft though this sounds complete.

Nice one.
n0mad23
n0mad23 replied Unknown
Yup, now the ambient mix is done, I'm going back to this one. It's a thick one, and surprising to me how distinct things sound where they should, and seem to slide one out of the other in other cases. Very curious. I guess I'm heading down a melodic path lately, and must say it feels right. Can't wait to see what happens next! Cheers brother Salook!

I have recently had a chance to listen to the original, great track for a remix, this is a brilliant take and has the nomad23 familiarity.
I read the stems provided weren't the best of quality but it seems you got around it, the quality is there on my end for sure. good job and good luck, i will be sure to check out the link for a bit of voting.

[Review of final unmastered version]

Wow man what a development, the rhythms are soft and very pleasing to the ears, very drifting and hypnotic,it seems you have found some equilibrium within this piece considering the balance and taming of the phased trumpet, even though this is un-mastered everything seems grounded and just perfect, for the track at this stage spawned from a happy accident man from something special comes something extra special...this is nOmad23 music as i discovered it, reminiscent of the 'Jungulator' phased and tripped out goodness, looking forward to the next update.Tops!

Yeah, I kept thinking about "Dancing in the Dreamtime" and "When Hippos sing with Frogs" as I was playing with stacks of various phasers and delay here. This is what I was hoping for with Live, and it turns out the key is MIDI devices. A mouse and laptop keyboard can take you only so far. It'll sound even better after I go after it with EQ and levels! Thanks for the thumbs up my friend!
