"ShortBusMusic." That's hilarious. If we want to see live gigs, we'll need human performers. Can you picture millions of teen age girls losing their minds over an AI generated K-pop band? How about the fanatical devotion Taylor Swift gets from her fans? It's no different the hysteria over the Beatles, Elvis or Rudolf Valentino. Performers become living gods so fans can experience the extasy of transcendence at their gigs. It's an archetypal experience AI will never be able to replicate.
I've been ShortBusMusic since 2003 (works for me haha). While I agree with your sentiments, AI "bands" are already being signed. Here's a quote from an online article:
"Major Label Licensing Deals
In a separate development, all three major music labelsUniversal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, and Warner Music Grouphave signed licensing agreements with the AI music startup Klay Vision Inc..
Platform Functionality: Klay is building a streaming platform that uses an "ethical AI" approach, allowing users to interact with and remake licensed songs in different styles using AI tools. The company aims to respect copyrights while creating new avenues for fan experience and artist compensation.
Legal Settlements: These deals follow a period of legal challenges, during which major labels sued other AI music generators like Udio and Suno for copyright infringement. Warner and Universal have since settled their lawsuits with Udio and plan to launch a collaborative, licensed AI music creation platform in 2026 that will provide artists the ability to opt-out and receive payment if their work is used." The AI Artist: Xania signed for a reported $3,000,000. I don't like it, but maybe I should...
I really like this. It's pretty. Music for the beautiful people while they're on holiday in Milan sipping champagne kind of a thing. I'm going to put it on my phone and everything! Great job man.
"Epic" is an apropos description. I like how it starts soaring @2;40. Sounds like an actual band too, not a computer. That's a feat in and of itself. Splendid job.
