Haha thanx or this great review. The piano is a perfect instrument. Thats awesome that you play. I like my avatar to. I was messing around in photoshop and it just kinda turned out that way by accident. It was crazy. But anyways thanx for the review. I appreciate it for sure. You talented to! Keep up the good work.
eeeew Nice work - I am already freaked out. like seriously - you really did a good job for a halloween - maybe i'm just a lil too open when i listen to music on this site, but i am almost completely freaked out right now. ok i'm calming down...... oooh, here comes the beat. oh that's nice man - very very cool work.
aw man - love your titles. they really accentuate the track in the greatest of ways. they always give that perfect focus for the visuals in my head. nice work.
That DSK Darkness Theory is one that I just couldn't imagine ever using. I'm one that really doesn't like Horror Movies - period. I always feel a bit violated by the end of one and it's not entertaining to me. So this track is really quite a surprise personally on several fronts. It all began with an experiment importing a live kalimba recording that really reminded me of Balinese gamelan orchestra music. The leap to Hungry Ghosts happened immediately as it's specifically a Chinese mythology (extended out through much of Asia). I certainly approach my music visually, and it's what I can see in my mind's eye that I try to recreate sonically. The real joy to me is that this seems to translate and people like you "see" related visuals upon listening. I can't think of a higher form of compliment. Thanks so much!
Dude play this track and all these people that have commented we are all the frogs, and we are all applauding you with our croaking ribbits. So glad you're here with your spacious perspective, clarifying the peripherals for so many of us.
CalifKen - cheers on being a fellow fuzzy boundary artist. It's amazing what's now possible, and we've got to push those edges and see what's just on the other side. Maybe the periphery is attainable through some sort of electronic osmosis, and if so I'm betting there's all kinds of cool sounds there that we're all going to dig. What's nature? What's synthetic? Is biomimicry the way? Thanks for the review!
cool man - Yes I have done a couple 'just moved to la' tracks as well, so this caught my attention. i like this! i think if the opening bass had some more of the qualities of the synth that it breaks to, it would feel more la to me. the bass doesn't seem la'sih, but everything else does! good work friend! cheers to la. i like it.
I'm running, my feet hittin is that first bass rhythm - having to run faster and faster - as the body is going into further over drive, each new sound represents that -
and then sh!!! beautiful piece in there, and then the running sequence again -
this is beautiful!! it's the most beautiful run i've ever been on.
btw I really got the run part straight away b/c i did a track with the same thing in mind (running, running faster, etc..) - it's changed since then so i won't cite it but ..
wow love the strings in there - this is great!! dig the style. it's actually quite similar to what i did in a few ways - but i love yours a bit more b/c of the chinese sounds. very clear and sweet.
uploaded the day before my birthday so thought I'd check it out - love the beat and the tabla element in there. love the rhythm and melody of the synth. and these tribal breaks are pretty nice. only thing i could suggest is a little more slight just touch of nuance variation over the course of the drum breaks. well now it seems like you are starting to do that right now - wow - this is very cool. sounds very genuine and tribal, but then one part of the drum sequence has a vocal ish quality making it sound modern - very cool!!! great work.
wow you said you wanted to rap on my track, and here I came looking for your raps and find these incredible instrumentals!! FEEEEEELIN THIS sooooo much!!
Wow so so good - wow wow wow. I just finally after years was able to put a vocal melody into a track as I developed it from scratch, so like right now especially your clarity in singing and pitch control really stand out to me. Great job!!
well we recorded this with the most minimal of equipement..im glad it turned out the way it did.. thanks for listening.. it means a lot when someone else enjoys and takes the time to review someone elses songs.
It's probably my fault, but you might want to cap of the piano sequence - it kinda dives right into my ear on these headphones and poke a little pin-sized hole right through the drum if you know what I mean. Try a parametric eq and take down some of the top bands is what i would try first. maybe i should fix the loop and send it over?
cool track - the nice new sounds i hear, and familiar ones - but really diggin like the big kinda muddy warehouse moving across the channels sorta sound is awesome. loved about 1/2 thru the clapping really ties it up. the rate of the perc synth that was going through most of it kinda kept me from getting deeper into the track, if that makes sense, it kinda dominated my attention even while other cool things were going on. nice work man, be sure and let me know if you develop it further!
Yeh great work there man!! I had to log back in to review it and say LOVED THE INTRO reminded me of thriller. Great great great clean work. I was just talking today about how a lot of music these days (esp my own) seems like it is ever-increasingly saturated with white noise, and maybe i'm just losing my hearing. But this track is so clean and is the cure. Great work man!!
Don't believe I have seen your name before in connection to reviewing any of my past tunes....so welcome and thanks for listening and reviewing this song.
It is nice to know what people think...good or bad....so a person can improve themselves.
Yes, the intro uses nearly the same chords as Thriller does, but in a different key. The last chord is a lot different tho as I needed one to hold for a moment till the other part of the song started. (minor 7th)
As far as clean sounding, I usually go in direct and use effects from 'Line 6' products or some of my own hardware. Pretty much need humbucker pickups too for guitar.
There are effects that will take out noise. Lots of times you can use a parametric EQ to zero in on a frequency to cut it out...or at least dampen it so it isn't easily heard.
So I hope this info helps some.
I'll review some of your tunes shortly. At work now.
cool melodies and of course builds - that's what caught my eye, and nice to hear that it doesn't hold out until the builds peak - it delivers all through. I like this a lot, nice melodic sections, very enjoyable.
Great opening. Very clean and fresh. Wonderful guitar - damn juicy and textury lovin that for sure. This is cool cool sh there man!!!! Wow - totally in glee at these sounds. This actually works man! I think maybe just a bit of Fx on like the tail end of her sentences. But maybe not, the track is so clean and pristine. Excellent work on this one, it's official - this is my fav track of the week. Fav ... can I download? Good man!! Thanks, great job and cheers!
Thank you very much for the review, and only minutes after upload! I wish I could say I played the guitar, but it is a loop which I got from a CD, sounds cool though. I have thought about adding a little dub delay to the vocals, but I'm still not sure about it. I'll give it some thought. Thank you very much for the rave and fave! You know you can always DL my tracks!
I think it works well too. Maybe up the vocals a touch - but I think that's more a question than a suggestion. u know? :) nice work very laid back and cool man!
cheers bro,
yeah the vox could be touched up a lil :P i think the thick bass kinda dulls the vox a little, so turning them up slightly help. glad u enjoyed it mate...
Your description makes a lot of sense to me. I hear and feel the clarity for sure. Perhaps with your wife the thing is her clarity is different. Maybe for her you should get a song together that would be her ideal clarity, move between that place and what her place of being on the med would be, and then play that for her, so she can understand. Neat little project there for ya!! I like this - nice work. Love the true descrip too. Really feel ya here bro.
Thanks for your understanding and helpful review! I can't say that I'd know where to begin, trying to guess what my wife's version of clarity would be. I'm glad you can feel this track too! Thanks for stoppin by!
Loving this!! Had it on, didn't realize how much I loved it until I clicked something else and this stopped and I was like OMG where'd it go?? GGGRREEATT great work, great tune. Love the chill, not too sentimental but still emotional melodies going on. very very cool.
Spudsy your tunes are vivid rainbows, from the overall feeling of them to the nuances and attention to detail. Interesting to listen to, and a pleasure to hear. Great work.
Thank you for such an uplifting response to this track.
Its been a bit of a struggle to keep doing music as i dont really know anyone who does production and when u dont have feedback its really difficult to know if anybody would be feeling the tracks you spend hours making.
So a big thank you for your comments, they really really are very much appreciated.....
