Im currently recording vocals with a decent mic and pre-amp setup. Nothing special. Me and one of my crew have a little studio weve thrown together in a spare bedroom of his crib. Homemade pop-filter, and a little rigged up vocal booth.
As far as influences go my man, everything influences me. I draw ideas from any and everything. Of course I like eminem and weezy. I also like some of Drake's word play, as well as T.I.'s and Juelz Santana. I do listen to some underground, Im not just mainstream haha. Aesop Rock, Little Brother and a few others.
I'm gonna have to take that picture off, it's not me. Just a random beautiful girl. Check out my stuff when you get a chance fam, not sure if you'll like the poppy one I just put up but you might be feeling the more underground stuff i got up here.
Gotta love Tribe called quest. Low End Theory, one of the best albums of all time. Liking your flows and lyrics too fam, looking forward to hearing some more.
Impressed. One of the darkest beats I've heard on here, Ghetto getting done like that yeah? P Money's doing it tho. Really it's all about D Double and Trimbal. Dun no. I could make a massive version of this beat man....
This is getting a fav.
Very sick.
EDIT: Not sure what you mean about BIG, but it's a goo track man. Feeling it.
thanks endtransmission you will be happy to hear we made all this track ourselves and didnt steal biggys thunder lol.. i will add link to album. also go for it make a version i would love to hear it if you need instrumental or anything let me no richard. you reviewed the kick in the door dub! and yes we did just steel biggys track whoops.. with some slight editing
Really like the string progression at the start, drums and percussion are spot on too. Very nice man, keep it up. Check out my tracks too, think you might them them.
Hey, very nice. Moody and beautiful, you got skills fam. Check out the track i just posted on the main page and return the favour, this is getting faved.
Impressed. Sounds like some early Dizzee Rascal first album stuff, I'd be up for re-working this.
Just gave a listen to it. Nice, unique style you have. Sure, I don't mind a little re-work. Just message me when you feel. Thanks for the listen as well.
You need a top-line melody in this, as in a hook melody or just something to break it up a little. Don't have the same piano loop all the way though either. Solid tho, very tasteful bass fam.
If you haven't done any EQing you DO HAVE TO WORK ON IT. I didn't say you were terrible at EQing. Bayonetta is very hardcore, whoever said it sucks, doesn't have a clue about games. The most respected games mag on the Planet Famitsu of Japan gave it a perfect rating of 40/40, which about 10 games in history have managed.
Don't get upset with advice you get on here, you're going to need allot of it lol. So better start listening.
the whole "no work needed" thing was a joke. This track to me is a joke.I know what I need and I know how to get it.I am not upset the slightest.Critisism is key-but when I am joking around I would like ppl to realize it.
And I rally want to play Bayonetta but I just havent the time nor cash.LOL!!
Like the perc/synth work at the start of this. If I was you I'd focus on that first part and expand it. Could be an excellent electro track, you got a good idea of rhythm. Keep it up man. Infact, if you send me that first part of the track, just minus the guitar in the background I think we could collab on this one.
Well it's your music, you're the boss of it. But if you put it up for opinions expect opinions and if you don't mention that in the description, only you know. : p
Devil May Cry huh? Fam, have you played Bayonetta? Same guy that made DMC's new game and it's incredible. One of the best games of the year, just takes some time to get good at. Also AKIRA is one of the best films ever.
I've done a remix of one of the tracks from Bayonetta, It's on my page called "Blacklisted".
Good to see another Video Game fan in here.
As for the track, you need to work on the mixing and EQ and then bring in an element that brings it all together, it's too disjointed at the moment. Keep it up man.
Thanks and I know there is ALOT to be done-i dont need to work on the mixing and eq(because i havent done any in the first place{lol})
I heard Bayonetta SUCKED-but thats just what G4 said :p
Need to EQ that drum sample loop, bring the hi end end out. Nice choice of vocal sample. You should check out a guy on Ninja Choon called Bonobo. I think you'd like him/get some inspiration for your stuff. Also maybe some Amon Tobin and some of the tracks from Amnesiac and Kid A, which are two Radiohead albums if you're not already aware of them.
Keep it up man, one of the most interesting tracks I've heard posted today.
Thanks for the advice, but I'm not going for clarity in my drums. I know about and have listened to all of the above artists you've mentioned. I'm particularly a fan of Prefuse 73. Yeah, people constantly tell I need to EQ. But maybe they don't see my vision the way I see it. I'm going for a more dusty but digital approach.
oh yea no doubt to that, see my homie Profes. Gilly got a wicked flow, reminds me of a young atmosphere befor he sold out... I wish I could sound somethin like that but from what Im told I got a pretty fresh flow.. haha but what do I kno
haha
You need to turn those synths down man. Way too loud in the mix right now. Drums remind me of Krust, check out this track on Youtube. Krust: Coded Language for ideas on the mix of the drums.
Need a hi hat in there to bring everything together too. It's a little too disjointed without something constant like a hat.
You've got the right idea man. The rhythms are spot on, you've obviously listened to a fair amount of DNB. It's not my area of expertise, but you need to change that synth around at some point and get a different melody happening in there. Maybe double up one of the synths with the next octave up. That will flesh the beat out a little frequencies wise.
EQ your snare and hats with some more high end too.

OK, how are you recording the vocals at the moment fam?
Who are your influences/who do you listen to for ideas/what to sound in the ball park of? Get back at me man.
