Lol i didnt realise i had a 'rep'. Anyway, If you need any Cubase questions answered at all let me know. If its regarding mastering however, i can tell you what i know but it isnt much.

But i dont mind helping you out at all. Send me a message on looperman and i'll get it in my email.

Wow!

The very first song i ever made was in dance ejay. Back then i didnt know how to use VSTs or anything like that, i was just placing different sounds that they gave me into various places. The only thing i did personally was put a few samples in there.

I dont know how much of this is Ejay and how much of this is you, But its very impressive sound for Ejay. For years after using Ejay i moved onto Music Maker, which you can download a demo version of and use. Hava a go. Im using Cubase at the moment, but i think i've out grown it a little, At the moment im just trying to get my producing/mastering right.

But well done, for Ejay this is a jolly good effort!

on Parsons Productions - And Skank by SuspektNumber1
I've actually wanted to do a song out of police sirens for a while. because they go well to a beat, and then you have the really fast one aswell, its quite dubsteppy really. But i havent managed to find any decent samples of them. How did you do it in this song? did you sample them or make your own sirens? They are quite good quality for a sample.

Anyway i have to agree with Birdy, this song reminds me of like dance Ejay or something, just with that second bleepy-sireny type sound that comes in, i dont think it really works.

Nice idea for a song though. You could get some good samples of horrible police off youtube. im all about sampling from youtube, lol. But i bet you could find some good ones.

Oooh i like this song. The production isnt amazing, especially where the drums are concerned, but i like the 8-bitty base intro and, the samples all fit well too. Its very well put together :)

on Diolch Yn Fawr by Birdy
First of all the title - What does it mean? It looks welsh - if it is, you could definitely find some decent welsh samples to put in this. I'd reccommend something Pritchard Vs Dainton, theres about a million samples in there that are all amazing. Find some youtube videos or something and rip them from there.

The drums could do with a tweaky, they are nice but not clear enough i dont think, especially the fillers - the clicky things and whatnot - they are definitely not loud enough at all. maybe layering up the snare with a clap and a burst of static would thicken it out a bit. The hihats sound nice, could try a bit of compression on them though?

Maybe think about adding another bassline, just a complimentary one that you could bring in every four bars or so, just to provide a bit of relief for the first one.

I love the bars on the bassline that are slow and then quickly speed up. They sound very good, play with them some more.

Could think about adding in some higher synths, strings, high piano in the background, towards the end.

Hmm. Probably the longest review ever on looperman but i hope it helps. I hope i didnt sound at all patronising either, i didnt mean to be.
Birdy
Birdy replied Unknown
yeah it means thank you very much in welsh which is where im originally from.. the snare has exaclty that haha, low snare hit, clap and burst of white noise. everything needs tightening up in the drums for sure, but its only half done at the moment.
thanks for the reveiw anyway will definatly look to rectify some of these things

on Fight or Flight by Birdy
i do like that drop, theres no build up to it, you should definitely keep that in, it was good.

It really needs some sort of melody... But damn good for an hour i must say!
Birdy
Birdy replied Unknown
yeah it needs a melody for sure, but nothing would fit that i tried so i decided not to force it. you want to have a go though? i can send you the file cos i think its worth finishing.

on Mallard by Birdy
this is definitely my favourite one of your tracks. it has a good build up and i like the samples - where did you get them from? they fit well in with the song.

If you get stuck with automation and what not you can always ask, i dont mind helping out.

Aah i like this drum beat :)

BTW im am working on that song - i might just do it in fruity loops as i dont see how its going to work otherwise... it might be worth you sending me the .FLP file?
Birdy
Birdy replied Unknown
yeah ill send you the flp file. im not sure what extra vsts i used cos im not at home right now but ill just include the .dll files for them if i have used any. thanks for the review aswell i like this one too, now ive got to grips with the automation it seems so much easier to acheive the things i want in a song

on Dem Bloodclat by Enzie
I think i would try putting the samples over the snare drums, add a main bassline in there becuase (and this might just be my speakers, im on my laptop at the moment) but there wasnt really a bassline that stood out terrificly. anyway otherwise its really nice, i love the high notes. very atmospheric.

on Shuuuffle! by EnkiDubstep
its good, did you layer the snare drums like he said? preferably put a clap, static and snare all in one should make it stand out a bit more. nice bass sound though.
EnkiDubstep
EnkiDubstep replied Unknown
There's a clap, a burst of static and one snare in there, yeh I might try 2 in there. I made the bass in 2 seconds with Albino I think :) Cheers for the comments ;)

on Beat Down by Gsusfrk
This is a good track - although im not sure its really dubstep - i mean thats a drum and bass drum beat you've got going there. if you cut it out a bit or half time it somewhat it might sound a bit more dubsteppy. But at the moment i dont think this is really dubstep, its still dnb.
Gsusfrk
Gsusfrk replied Unknown
sorry I dissappointed you with my labeling. Hopefully one day I'll correct my ways and make a true dubstep track that will fit the genre lol
Lomax has atrack on his website (www.myspace.com/lomax) and the song Artisan VIP has an announcer on it, he said, "the raggae dancehall king", i obviously got it miixed up with dubstep lol
anywyas thank you for your advice, i guess i'll stick to DnB for now =P

it kicks in at around 0:28, and ok, it's not that wobbly, but i think it's ok for my first crack at dubstep.

on Celestial Sunrise by dmfay
this is a really nice track, but you really need to make that bassline alot more intrusive, its nice, but at least put the cutoff and the res up a bit so its a bit more dominant. Otherwise i really like this track, its inspiring!

on Fissure by Kazm
this is much nicer than riddle. Helix is right tho i think; it needs a sub inthe background just to give it a little oomph. And personally i would lose the sample and put angry person in there instead, it suits the genre much nicer lol.

Yeah, I'll probably try it out (Y)

Its nice, but I dont think its one of my favorites. I much prefer the bassline that comes in at 1:44, thats lovely, but im undecided about the trancey background. But it sounds well produced as usual :)

that bassline is really nice. Did you make it yourself? If so what synth did you use for it? I like this song alot.

The tune is very nice. I love the Wob you've used. What synth was that? I'd like to know. I cant mc, and you keep up with the song fine i would just change the vocals a little bit, put some pitch shifting effects on it to tune it down a little bit.
