This is gorgeous. Totally a beauty-mous power anthem. I love how the instruments you've used create a golden shimmering aura that brightens the piece. I was also admiring how clean and precise the mixing and mastering is; it's dry enough to allow for those precision claps to shine through but still has a lushness and vibrancy to it. Totally awesome work here.
Ooh, I like the piano in the intro. It's very baroque sounding. Those strings add this symphonic air. Love the fading in of the bass, and that glitchy transition to the beat. Nice slow, confident, inexorable groove here. I like the unexpected rhythm in the drums; not a cliche at all, but still a great pulse. I like the fainter synth in the higher register filtering in and out to provide some counterpoint and texture. The reintroduction of the piano is solid. My head is nodding along. This is awesome. I love how restrained and refined and intentional it is.
This is a rockin' track. Love the splashy drums and the woobly effects at :50. Nice mix of alien sounds with familiar instruments. I the breakdown, and how it sounds like a jungle at 1:40. This is legitimately intriguing, and the downtempo, spacious modules really leave contextual room for the listener to appreciate the broad rock of the drops. Wonderful arranging skills here.
wow !thank you very much for the kind words .
I thought this arrangement might be a bit crowded but your
opinion makes me think it's not bad .
you made my day .
thank you much much :)
The vocals sit so well in the mix that they're integrated with the fabric of the track, and I love the beautiful synth hooks that are weaving through as we move to minute two. The bells are gorgeous; it can be hard to find/make bells that are both in tune AND interesting, and these strike that balance. This is a sweet track; I love how it develops over time.
Oh, wow, this is slammin'. I love the catchy groove, and those gritty little synths in the intro. And the acoustic guitar is awesome. Cool juxtaposition of elements. I love the main melody being interspersed with brass. I love the trading back and forth of riffs between different awesome instruments. There's just so much confident attitude and swagger and joy going on here. My whole body's moving to this beat. I would dance like crazy if this came on while I was at a club or a wedding or something. I love the syncopated ostinato at 2:45; it's so playful. I can see myself pointing at other dancers and being super corny on the dancefloor to this. YAY.
Hey, thanks for listening and commenting! We had a few drunken jam sessions making this and we had a lot of fun, I think it shows! :). Getting the head bopping or the body moving was the idea so glad you enjoyed it! Thanks
I love the idea of contrasting surf guitar with ghosts. =) This is cool. I love the quieter, more spacious mid-section as a contrast to the rest of the song. Totally solid track.
I like the piano intro and the shimmer into the trumpet groove. It's like a synth trumpet carnival parade. In summer. in Rio. At :45 I love the shift in the groove and instrumentation and the rise into the drop. How can you not know about this one? I think it's awesome. It might be fun to try some more pronounced volume variations. The groove at 1:47 is spectacular. When you come back to the initial piano riff I'm happy to hear it with the beat and the crescendoing synth--it's a nice development in the arrangement. The song's over too soon; it was so good, don't let it go! Aww, it's fading out. Nice work. =D
I love the big whooshy boom at the very start of this. And then the subtle synth that rises into the anthemic groove that starts at like :14. I love how the drums pan slightly; keeps the auditory interest. At :49 the groove changes to something cinematic and bombastic and totally awesome. This track is epic, yes. Nodding my head, can't stop this beat. This stands up. Good work.
YAY! This made me super happy. Good choice to remix; the nostalgia is strong with this one. I love how you made it funky and dance-able. That dirty-duck type synth is making my day. And that marimba type thing. I like that it's not taking itself too seriously but the production value is still excellent.
This is so spare and elegant. The synth at the beginning reminds me of a choir of treble voices humming. I imagine them marching down a green valley, beating drums. I think this would well in a video game, during an emotional cut scene. The sweeping chimes are a super nice transitional device, and the piano is sparkling here. I like the mix; it's very clean.
That's funny you feel that those "synths" sound like voices humming because they kind of are. Its actually a hmm choir layered and panned opposite to an Ooh Choir. But they are not real choir so you are correct in saying they are synths :)
I love it. What you made melds so well with the a cappella that it's hard to believe it wasn't all recorded at the same time. When the hand claps come in at a touch after 3:00, the groove got really exciting for me. This is legit.
I second the idea of a remix contest. This is blisteringly cool. I'm kind of in awe over here. Personally, I dig the autotune effect. Good luck fixing the bass/muddle issue you mentioned; that can get tricky--not that I noticed it. Too busy glowing over those vocals.
Thanks cellar :D I hope to upload the acapella of my track here soon; hopefully I can sort out my frustrating computer problems and get you guys some stems for a remix competition :3
Hello there! I do apologize for a 2 year long response. I was going through my old music and saw that I had left some comments unresponded. I do appreciate your awesome words! :)
I love the creepy whispers toward the end. Your vocals elevate the whole thing into something special. I like your idea of expanding this into a longer track; I think it would lend itself well to a more expanded treatment.
Thank You CD. I really loved doing the vocals. If no one else, I think it freaked my housemates out! I will expand the track, but I need to mull over what direction to take it in.
I'm totally on board with the idea of "ice house." I think that the idea of a crystalline soundscape that evokes the cracking of glaciers and the sparkle of ice is a great one. And when you wrote "igloo" I laughed; that's super clever.
Hey man thanks!! :) I have a few clever things to say sometimes (key word there is sometimes)
Also, I'd like to see what you've got in terms of creating an Ice House track! I plan to hold a small competition with the production of an Ice House track!
The lyrics are a-ma-zing. I love how this all came together; and the way you phased in the vocal hook with different effects was really playful and interesting.
The bass really does seem to sing "gettin' this money." I like the beat a lot. I could stand for more variety as I listen in my living room, but for use in a dance club, this is probably great.
The quiet before the storm at 3:24 is my favorite part. The whole track is sparkling and clean and it hangs together. A more tapered-off ending might serve it even better.
This has such a gorgeous, shimmering aesthetic. I love how thoughtfully the format is structured, and how dance-able it is while still be lyrical and pretty.
And I dig the reversed synth sound that makes up the groove starting at, like, :49 or so. That's neat.
I'm a fan of the original song, and this does it justice--so elegant. I like the occasional hiccuped irregularities in the percussion; it adds it interest, and I think that adding more white space is always a good idea in design. Nice job.
Hey CD many many thanks for your comment. I tried not to stray too far away from Gary Jules version as I know how beloved that song is for many people, just dont know how well I succeeded. But Im glad that it did for you.
