honestly man, if you added in some nice deep bass drops and a little more click to your hi hats, this would be and absolutely slammin' break beats track.i like the overall composition on this track though, so keep up the good work man

man you did a really good job on this track especially for just using acid pro. I swear, i can work with some really complicated programs, but i can never seem to figure out how to properly work acid to do what i want. so keep up the good work man

damn spit you just keep coming with more nastiness for the masses! you kill it again with those piano lines. i always appreciate your use of reverb on the drums....always kind of puts me in the mindset of a big monster drum kick looking down and laughing at you LOL

REALLY REALLY GOOD! but i hate to be the asshole.....the actually dj danger mouse used the sample, but it's really not that noticeable, only reason i know is because i was on a huge dangermouse kick about 2 years ago

man this is one of your sickest tracks yet, i LOVE the choppiness of it.you should check out my track call "why i make hip hop" i used nothing but earth wind and fire samples, but it definitely doesnt compare to this

on The Ugly Organist by Chud37
basically what i mean by warmer bass, is like a sine wave bass.very deep and plain sounding.....its just a nice warm sound to it, and if you layer it under your pre existing bass then it will fatten the sound up while still maintaining your original dirty bass sound

on unfinished articulation by peopleareloudmovers
man you did a really good job on this one.....i really like the feeling that it gives off. the only thing i really didnt like in the song was the wierd kind of fake distorted guitar sound. i think if you try replacing it with a nasty grimey bass sound it may work
peopleareloudmovers
peopleareloudmovers replied Unknown
i've actually never thought about the distorted guitar sounds that way.
this song has always felt pretty solid, but i do agree, some of the few distorted sounds could be replaced with other sounds, or even recorded in.
the only downfall with replacing them with a grimy bass is that i believe it would take away from the more realistic bass sounds used.
i've tried writing some music that i feel could be played live, and this was one written with those intentions. maybe i'll do a whole remake with all live instrumentation.

thanks for listening and leaving a review, this is a track i want to keep thinking about!

on The Ugly Organist by Chud37
MAN FOR A SECOND THERE I THOUGHT YOU WERE GONNA REMIX THE UGLY ORGANIST FROM CURSIVE BUT DAMN THIS TRACK IS PRETTY SLAMMIN, THE EQ IS GOOD,GOOD JOB ON MASTERING, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR A WARMER BASS SOUND LAYERED UNDERNEATH
Chud37
Chud37 replied Unknown
Ooh interesting. I made the background bass quite a bit louder, and lower, so I would have thought that would have dealt with the problem, can you elaborate on what you mean by a warmer bass sound?

thanks for the constructive critism! you dont hear that much here on looperman :)

on What Do You Feel FT.HOLLY by YourzTruLee
comparatively to your other work, i felt that the track was a little weak mainly due to the mix of the instruments. i really liked it but i dont think it has the same feel of your other work (which isn't a bad thing at all) I tried working with that sample for soooooooo long, and i couldnt come up with anything, so mad respect for being able to pull it off. i think my biggest thing with this track is that im so used to you using the really grimy simple hip-hop drum lines instead of the kind of main stream rap-esque very hi-hat heavy drums(i've never been a fan of those) other than that, really good composition, i think the vocal could be dropped a little when the beat kicks in though

on If You Want It Back by YourzTruLee
my god this track is dope as fuck(definitely a favorite!)....i just wish i could do something to it.....im learning now how to get better sound quality than i was but i dont think its anything compared to what you'll need.anyways man, once again great job, i can't wait to hear the finished version

on Hip Hop Comp March 09 by Kazm
you made really good use of the samples that you chose to work with. but i feel like the bass of the song was underplayed/understated. overall the general progression of the track is on point.it wasn't to repetitive, which is a great thing. you did a great job man! and good luck in the comp, may the best beat win
Kazm
Kazm replied Unknown
I know what you mean dude, I kinda had to rush this, and my audio setup at the moment is terrible because I broke my headphones :/.
Thanks for the review dude (Y)
Peace.

what more can i say other than.....you have 81 tracks. which is a great thing, but i just can't review all. this is by far my favorite though. you really have a lot of talent with brass....much respect, youre a great musician. i like how you always have an undertone of ska in everything though. its adds a much needed flavor to songs that you never thought it would work with. keep up the good work!

(and as im noticing around here a lot)
*cheers slap*

on March to the Pantheon by peopleareloudmovers
you did a really good job on this. i actually went and listened to the samples he gave for that comp just because i was curious. with that said, i think you put your own style and flavor into this track. you didnt overuse the samples, but the opening seemed a bit long, or maybe just bare...you could try to build it up a little more.
peopleareloudmovers
peopleareloudmovers replied Unknown
flavor is what i like.
it was a very fun competition, the first i've participated in since joining looperman. this competition in particular was very unexpected, and it's something that i was actually looking forward to when joining the site.

once i read the words "aphex" and the letters "c-o-m-p" my bubble of excitement almost burst. i was in paradise.

the long opening i actually wasn't intending on, yet the idea for that soundscape/array of glitches and textures hit me like a whirlwind mid-production.

i felt that the long textured intro made it feel a bit more aphex-esque or at least had some reminiscence of braindance.

i don't believe that this one is finished, so the buildup has just begun!

this track is pretty damn good overall. but do you have a compressor on there somewhere? because it sounds real "breathy" like there's a volume cut ever few seconds

slammin track man. this is the kind of stuff i spin. its alot like diesel boy used to sound before he started to suck. its got a nice dark feel to it. the warble bass may need to come up a little though

on chill out intrumentals by dj_CaSpAr
oh i almost forgot. bring the drums level with the music and put some long reverb on them since its a slow enough drum line

on chill out intrumentals by dj_CaSpAr
ok first off man, the music is fuckin on point. you did a really good job on sample placement and over all production. but apart from the praises my suggestions are:

1)it comes off as RnB because of the hit hat sound.if you try a lower and dirtier high hat sound...AND make it just a simple 1,2,3,4 count then it will be more "chill out"

2)there's a sound behind the piano like a "tink tink tink" noise.bring that down just a little

on Hands up by Budablaze
i say lighten up on the scratch a LITTLE.it has good placement in alot of the song, but since its the same sample it just gets old.other than that the track itself is on point.its stuck between a pure west coast sound, and a slightly mid-west sound.keep up the good work man

on Life by Pwnone
you got good style man! but you should try one singe vocal track and see if you can find someone to do a small bit of the backup vocals. you dont need to layer your voice, you have a good mc voice man, dont cover it.it should give you more power to specific words and more of a personal feel....so it doesn't sound "over produced". and i would like to hear something a little heartfelt and serious, i think your voice would fit that style
