Anytime I see your name Im stopping in. You give me chills and I can only describe you as beautiful. To outshine that piano is a difficult task, but that voice wins.
Hot, hot, hot! Fantastic song and your vocals are so strong and nasty with a drop of sweetness! Would love to hear you sing Barracuda by Heart. Take me back to the seventies!!!
Aw ... I'm afraid I'd never be able to sing "Barracuda", Sir !! It's so difficult and elaborate ! I thank you a lot 'cause you made me discover it . So ice of you to have left a few words here :)
Cheers
Oh Chris, I love it when you googlespeak that way, hahaha !
Glad you had a booty fitness practise on that !!
Yep, all my sunniest smiles to you my good friend .
Take good care,
Big xoxo
Fantastic Carole....I certainly agree with the many good things that have been said about this one...Top of the charts over here at my place....great track.....Ed
All the merit goes to Paul and the buddies . It's quite easy for a singer to sound good on such a track .
I'm very happy and honoured you stopped by, my dear Ed .
'Hope you're fine,
Take care,
Bises ;)
Carole, thank you so much for providing a translation of the lyrics, and for all your replies to my comments yesterday. I guess there are different people using janis71, so sorry about my confusion there. There's Carole, I guess, and there's Janis, and then there's the people you work with, like Stef, etc. It's great that you have a community of artists to work with there. I used to have a band and do a lot of studio work but now it's all solo mash-up work with me locked in my little room like a mad scientist hermit. However your music happens, whoever's involved in the various pieces, count me in as a fan of y'all. And I'll be back when I have more time to listen to more of your tasty tracks...
Hey CM, nice you went back here ;)
Erm ... let me clear up things a little ...
When I arrived here, I used to use my pseudonym (janis) in response to people's comments and one day ended up thinking it silly and signed my true first name (Carole) .
Stef is my best friend . We both are poetry-addict and he's my master at it . Aw ... I so wish you could all feel his talent . He allowed me to use some of his poems to make songs out of them .
Is there other "Janisses71" here ? I didn't know about it .
So, apart from Stef's words, I ain't got any music partners and I'm an oddball scientist as well :)
Wow ! A fan ! Quick, my drops !! haha
Thx a lot and be sure you'll be welcome each time you have time to waste on my pages, lol .
Best regards,
Carole
The vocals are really nice (I dig that 16th note appegio at the front of the verse) Tell me, is that a real drummer on the track? It sounds like a live band-
Hi! Just to say what a great track this is. Had me hooked from the start. Not many songs do that for me. Love your voice and the guitar work is excellent. Will you marry me? Shoot , the wife just said I can not. She is such a spoil sport.
You had me from the first second on this one, with that slappy percussion and stumbling piano. Love the vocal repetition as backing. As with many of your pieces, there's that dark edge, that sense of sadness, that shadow of emotion. I like the slow stately march of the piece. It's a heavy head-bopper - deep, hard, shoulder-cringing bops. Nice use of organ - I like how you tend to go for the unusual sounds. Great stuff.
Well, I really wanted to pay homage to my so dear and exceptional friend, Stef de Noakiss, who wrote this jewel of a poem . Sorry if I don't allow myself a translation of it, but this would waste and dilute the magic of his words .
It's about a dream and I wanted to make a peaceful and _ as much as possible _ aerial music for it .
Beside, this is not sad . Maybe the vox sounds sad but the words are full of quietness and hope .
But you guessed right, there are a few sad trials on my page, CM .
I don't speak French but you're emotions come through quite clearly nonetheless with the passion of your expression. I especially love the ending, with the layers of harmony and the striking piano(?) notes at the very end - a new sound out of nowhere - love that.
Hi CM,
Here are the lyrics in English,to thank you _ aw, don't think it's pretentious _ for the time you dedicated to me today and the friendly tone of your messages .
I'm still here
and wherever you want me to be
as long as you're living
come what may
I this origami
Or in between the seconds
I'm still here
imprisoned in a round
The same hemisphere
shelters our thoughts
But no planisphere
Knows your milky way
I caught a glimpse of it
or rather, I admired it
It made me lose my eyes
and win regret
I'm still here
and waiting a little bit more
But my heart's become old
I've got a void in the middle
( ... )
The sun has left
for a long time now
As a proof to the rain
of a once upon a time
In the center of my body
where I live on unison
I can here "some more"
which sound like thrills
The final instrument is a Japanese koto, if I can remember right . But the loop hasn't got a title so I'm not quite sure about that .
a) I wish I spoke French. b) You've got a dark edge in some of your pieces - this is the third I've listened to now and the second where that shadow fell early on. Oh man! I'm at the breakdown now, the bridge I guess, where the piano and bass do a little dance - LOVE THAT STUFF! And then your airy arias - beautiful. OK, here's that shadow again - I wish I knew what you were saying! Now I'm at the second break - mixed in with that orchestral chorus - oh, that's the end. c) Fantastic piece - I'd say this is getting right up there with "No Ace". d) I really really wish I could download your songs. I'm flying to Europe in a couple weeks and this is what I'd be listening to if I could. So you should reconsider your policy and let the music-starved hordes have their nourishment. e) You rock. I mean, seriously.
Aw ... seems you caught a glimpse of sthg behind the mask ...
Well, yes, sometimes the sky's cloudy in my head but as long as I'm breathing, I guess everything's fine .
Thank you ...
Carole
Hi there, from your reply to someone's comment, this is an early piece of yours. I dug it, but not quite to the level of "No Ace", which is freakin awesome and clearly several miles down the road past your early productions. It's great to see that progression. Now I have no choice but to listen to all of your pieces - you've been busy! - and chart that progression and follow your evolution like a true fan. Because you are one talented lady, writing-wise, singing-wise, and music sensibility-wise. And so I embark on my journey of musical discovery, following in your wake, with happy anticipation...
Yep' indeed, it's one of my early trials .
But again, I guess you're mistaken CM, as the "No Ace" music's not mine so "progression" is not a suitable word to qualify my humble stuff .
But I'm very touched by your friendly and detailed words and thank you a lot .
OK, I'm like 30 seconds in and hooked. Love it when that hard edge creeps in with the eerie guitar and the shadow enters your voice, sort of an am-radio tuning. Giving you a play-by-play here as I listen... The mix is deep, you can try to push your ear all the way into the core but you can't, it just keeps going. How do you do that? Teach me! Somehow the mix is more in the middle of my head than other mixes. How do you do that? Tell me now! The bass is friggin' awesome - what a foundation! And how many layers of sound did you build on top of that foundation? I can't count 'em! I'm at the guitar and drum break near the end now - perfect! OK, here comes the fade...yeah, you know how to fade, too, not a half-assed sort-of fade (like I just heard on another track) or a confusing no-ending ending, you properly fade that joint. This is music at a high level and right in the wheelhouse of my oddball sensibility. The only problem with it - and it's a huge one - is that you don't permit downloads. Meanie.
Hello there, CitizenMofo and thx a lot for your various comments on my trials, which I'll answer afterwards .
Just an essential rectification . I didn't compose and play this music . Nor did I produce, mix or master it . My friend offered me to lay lyrics and sing on it but I'm in no way "responsible" for your enthusiasm _ which I appreciate, though _ haha
Sorry about the download but as the music's not mine, it would be inappropriate to "allow" it .
Thx for your words and the time you spent visiting my pages today ;)
Just a flat out WONDERFUL track Janis. You have a fine music partner. I would have liked to hear your great voice stand out a tad more, but that's just me.
Hi Scott :)
You're right about Paul, even if we don't work together any longer . I'm still a fan of his and of his great talent .
I'm grateful to you for your nice comment .
Peace
Bonjour Stefano,
D'you speak French ?
As I told Joe, the music and production are the most valuable parts in this song .
I'm happy you enjoyed this .
Aw ... no, the mix on "Mélange" is awful, and I mean it .
And I really don't think I'm a musician, without playing it humble .
I just fancy and sing things as they pass me through .
Very nice grooves in this. Nice vocals Janis. I've actually used some of your acapella snippets but have yet to post the track. You and Paul really did a great job on this...nice guitars and production. I really like it.

when you listen to a song and you realize that it is difficult to classify it in a genre, it means that the work is original!
So, there are some pop flavours, some blues, but there is much more!
I loved the different uses of your voice, which is very versatile, and the guitar playing is magnificent!
Lovely song, I fav'd it!
Thank you for sharing!
Stefano
PS I listened to your songs on Dailymotion, Melange is great, wow, you are a five stars musician!
