Regreetings.

Sorry to hear you're tired all the time. I've also been struggling this week to do any decent music after work because of pretty much falling asleep in the studio listening back to tracks.

"my creative juices are not flowing as they were"

They certainly were on this one. I'd be proud to have come up with this track.

Also part of the problem with the sharp and piercing noises is the level of the track. It's basically all too loud, as you can see from the waveform. Try just turning it all down at the end of the mix (ie the master). I assume this one must be "going into the red" ie introducing some clipping and digital distortion. Having no clipping at all will make for a smoother listen. Hey, it's not extreme metal...

Congrats again.

Don`t know how I missed this one earlier...but I miss a lot of music time this time of year....even though its totally unlike it, the intro reminded me just a tad of an original oldie (shuffle blues) called Night Train (used to play covers of it it days long gone)....love the big breat power & complimentary train sound fx....and the way you have wrapped it all up musically with the chugging synth and bass pulse...Its been said already, but this is indeed really creative stuff mate...and it turns out to be great listening music too....bravo....definite fav...Ed

Yo.

I played a few tracks on here, looking for something to comment on, and yours really stood out to me.

0:23 you kick in with a cool groove and then a much fatter beat at 0:26. That's pretty badass, actually. This has some serious vibe.

1:03 intersting change.

Some of the high end white noise stuff is a bit too sharp and piercing for my ears.

1:25 cool transition back down into the fat verse beat.

This is really creative stuff.

More thoughts from me another time, provided you reply, which you didn't last time.

Sorry for not replying Mister Nomad I'm not with it much just now and not here much lately.
Very very tired due to heavy medication and my creative juices are not flowing as they were.
Interesting about the white noise stuff I'll take a listen to that.
That as I'm sure you're aware is my steam effect.
Thank you for a very positive review.

Cool track. Really loving the fading vox. The switchup around 1:38 is pretty neat as well. Cool little pan sweep with the percussion. You really pay attention to all the little details in the mix. Speaking of which, all the instruments fit well with each other. Nothing is really drowning anything else out too much.
Great work on this one

I dig this very much! Always will have a place in my heart for reggae. Nice beat and choice of instruments! I guess my only problem with this is the master, as it is quite squashed and doesn't use the headroom it has. That is just personal preference. Might work good if you were pressing a record though? Either way, enjoyable listen!

Hey there mate...Great groove you've got going on here man,the reason this works so well is it's not trying to out think itself, there's a cool theme running through the whole piece and all the elements reflect it resulting in great continuity!...I will mention here your post in the forums about 'losing one's mojo' as it's directly relates to this track where you obviously haven't lost your mojo...........You and I are from the same generation we've had plenty of time to figure out truth from fiction and all the rest of life's bullshit, and there's one thing that is crystal clear to me,especially when it comes to the creative process, there is no future, there is only the past and the now, sure we extrapolate and project as humans do but it's in the rumination of ideas, concepts and actions that we find ourselves....it's in front of us all the time,it's that ant your about to step on,or consequently not step on,it's in that fluctuating beat that's going on behind your eyes, for instance you mentioned you had a lot of unfinished tracks you were about to bin, somewhere among all that stuff is a passage or phrase that is worth keeping, try finding it,copy and paste it into a new track slot then delete everything else.....to me making music is like milking a cow (without any machinery! lol)you have to sit down with a bucket and stool an get to it and in that process barring accidents you'll end up with something, sorry if I got a little tangential here, this is a great track with plenty of great mojo!..cheers Dave :)

Thanks Mr planet jazz.
You were the fist guy to intrigue me when I first discovered the loop section and when the track section wasn'r noticed for a very long time.
I think your loops are increbiially inventive.
I've used them in a few tracks but mostly in the one I did called the film.
Thankyou for such encouregment.
I think I'm going to have to chill for a while as my brain is just satring to flood with Nitrazepam and Palexia. Very heavy mix but will have upright and pain free within a short while.
Right now I'm struggling to type.
If I've missed any please accept my apologies but I'll be back after some chemical indeuced stupour dreaming./

Very creative stuff here!
I'm travelling along the music (in my mind - I should actually be asleep and not killing sleeping time in front of the computer) and enjoying the trip.
You are one of those musical picture painters here I gather, this is even more like a movie though.
Very talented.

Cheers/ SJ =)

Nice work ;)
Lots of stuff going on here all the way through, very dynamic and creative beats always evolving i specially enjoyed that part from 2:40 onwards very cool indeed although that sax at 2:45 is causing some distortion on my monitors.
Overall is a very creative ambient track which in my opinion only needs some adjusting on the levels here and there.
I like it very much.
Peace

Really nice ambient work! I like the subtle hints and references to a train rain with the little samples you used (like the sound of steam and engine) Really cleverly done!
silverman
silverman replied 9th Jul 2015 - 10 years ago
The good news is there are no little samples of steam or engine anywhere in there!
White noise manipulated with a hi hat and a base drone manipulated with synths guitar and drums.
At 1.15 to 1.20 there is a small sample of an actual railway line noise in the back ground and that's it no other train stuff anywhere.
Thanks Ocean for commenting .... petty you couldn't do it in that lovely voice of yours many of us so enjoy.

Wow, how did you do those cool effects to the synths? That's SICK. Awesome, I mean. Wow. Very ambient, a little on the odd side but that's not a bad thing :P Very original work. One thing that stood out to me was the drums were a little loud and harsh on the high end for me, but thats just me :P Maybe turning them down just a hair will help allow you to raise the overall volume without making it uncomfortable for the listener.

Cheers,

ER

Mr. Silverman!

Straight through from a Tarantino soundtrack...:-)

Fabulous music right here...got that train feeling...we made a track with Ed (Tumbleweed) in same manner...just staring out the window and telling stories from the past and hoping the good ones from the future...

Respect and handshake, Danke

Thank you so much Danke.
I'm thoroughly enjoying painting my soundscapes together just now.
Finding the right sounds shaping the right sounds takes flaming hours days but it's worth it when others appreciate the results.
I have to go out somewhere now at just gone midnight and I'll be driving along my favourite stretch of highway with the volume up loud.
Here I om A55 North Wales ... goes through long tunnels skims the ocean cuts through mountains ... foot down all the way watching for cops in the rear view mirror whilst racing the London to Holyhead express that skims along the side of the road.
Goodnight folks.

Hya Jamid ... didn't really know whether I was coming or going in the end last night doped up to the eyeballs on very strong opiates and have spent most of today in bed semi comatose having the wildest and most vivid opium dreams!
All on prescription of course .... I'm not quite a junky yet.
Feel tons better now and clear headed.
I have a spinal condition that doesn't bother me some days but then bang I run screaming to the medicine chest!
I'm going looking for your latest choooon me boy.

I like how the rhythm and the bass mimic a locamotive. Great sounds, sax equates to the horn, you even make it sound like a steam locomotive. The subtle placement of guitar is awesome as well. The bass line is right out of the seventies (Quiet Sun) . Awesome creative use of minimalism to represent a visual idea using sound, brilliant my friend.

Thank you for your kind comments.
I love that slow blowy s̶e̶x̶ sax!
I've got this mad desire to create images.
Lately I've used a clock a heart beat an engine white noise for a breathing pump but only very subtly ... apart from the heartbeat that wasn't subtle.
Having to listen to this stuff over and over and over some more while building it up should come with a health warning.
The heart one I swear I had palpitations.
This one I've stamped some of the plaster off the wall under my desk!
Thank you for your time Cruce.

Really good sound and groove, not sure about Ambient
more of a chill or dance groove...
But it's nothing but some Music so call it what you like...
Why everything has to be in a box, is way below the talent
that is needed to make Music anyway...

Cool track...

Peace...TG.

Thank you for taking the time Soundhound.
I have no idea why I chose that genre.
Not sure I did intentionally.
I never know which one to pick half the time and may well have gone at it like blindfolded and stick a pin in it approach.
