Hi Frans, I didn't know there were rules in music, *smile*. But let's be honest: creativity should always take precedence over limitations in music. That's why I view rules, often established by experts, with a certain amount of skepticism and criticism. In fact, I also find it quite problematic to pigeonhole music.
I see things a little differently when it comes to lyrics, though. Lyrics should be neither morally offensive nor offensive.
With this song, you've once again delivered an incredibly interesting piece of work and clearly demonstrated that it's entirely possible to integrate vocals into different musical styles without diminishing their power or meaning. The particularly versatile key of Am that we used speaks for this, of course, and above all, your exceptional skill, perfectionism, and expertise as a music producer.
Hi Manuela, thank you for your encouraging words and compliments. We, the people here at Looperman, can consider ourselves lucky that we were able to work on your beautiful track.
Send me a pm via Looperman if you want to receive the Reaper project as a gift.
Thanks DanMed, glad you like it.
The vocal is still original, with some additions, just created some gaps and used stretch markers in Reaper to get the vocal somewhat in sync with the beat. I'm hidden in there too.
The remix is not weird, it is genius :-) The Reverb and echo fits very well, I would have done it the same way. Was just waiting for a big tom or snare coming in. Very well produced, a very good vibe. Cheers, Oli
Hi Oli, thanks, glad you like it.
This one was work on the vocal only.
I just posted a new version, completely different but the same vocal (fitted to the beat).
I totally agree with Zootman, great atmospheric remix of this wonderful vocal performance by Manuela. I truly liked your approach to this "experiment".
My best wishes, Anthony
Minimalist masterpiece, the very end few seconds went off beat to my ear, would have ended that much earlier with trailing reverb fading out.
Great Job!
Hi Frans
Manuela is right.
You stayed close to the original but still gave it an extra in a beautiful subtle way.
Something you are good at I had already noticed
Hello Franz, that was incredibly quick! Even more surprising is the impressive quality of your remix. You stayed close to the original, and I really liked the addition of reverb and echo, as well as the overall editing of the track. Wonderfully done! Warm regards, Manuela
P.S. You dont need to apologize for anything, not even for your preferences *smile
Hi Manuela, glad you like it, it was a fun task to do :-) I even had time to get a tan and watching some F1 on the telly :-)
Changes to the original:
1: Using DEMUCS-GUI to split the song into 4 stems (drum, bass, other, vocal)
2: Lower the intensity of the Organ A#5 and the adjacent tones.
3: Changed the end of the song.
4: Intermezzo vocal - 2 dB (make room for background vocals).
But I found a mistake in my work as I activated an EQ on the "other" stem to lower organ A#5 and the adjacent tones as they got a bit loud, but forgot to fine-tune and limit to the affected timeframe. So I fixed this, now it's only from 02:00 to 02:22 and 02:59 onwards via EQ using a band filter on A#5 -6 dB and bandwidth 0.58 oct. Wasn't able to fix it using a multi-compressor.
Additions:
5: Copied the intermezzo vocals twice for background singers (both differently pitched, panned, and time shifted (stretched) on each phrase to create virtual differences between the 3 voices.
6: Copied the last second of the "other", stretched it to 6 seconds to replace the end with a slower fadeout.
7: created a reverse reverb on the vocals (except the intermezzo) rendered that, copied into 2 tracks the panned them and shifted in time -50 and +50 ms to create width.
8: created multiple bigger reverse reverbs for the start of phrases as fade-in. (manual labour = copy slice of first vowel, reverse it, render including delay, reverse result, cut the vowel, move to match to the start of the phrase, fade-in the start to end and fade-out the end (+/- 1/8) to blend into the phrase start.)
9: several vocal slices taken into separate tracks with the needed delays.
10: and everything else I forgot to mention :-)
Hello TheFrenZ, I really enjoyed this track especially the tempo change later in the track....big pleasant surprise that worked well, this was a very good listen and done well.
I believe you did a very good job with all these loops. You've managed to use them in a very wise way in order to create a beautiful song.
I really enjoyed the listen.
My best regards, Anthony
Hi Anthony, glad you like it.
It was fun to do, and there is nothing else than these samples. Had to stretch/shrink almost all of them, some up to 14 times the normal speed :-)
