Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to give me all these explanations. I've already downloaded Sitala to start using it. And I'm blown away by all the effects available for JSFX (I didn't know what it was). I just tried "JS: Ping Pong Pan" on a track and I loved it. I'll see if I can gradually learn how to use these things. I learned what automation was in the last song, and I only used it to control the volume of some sounds and prioritize the vocals.
Thanks again.

You're welcome, I'm happy to share, using REAPER for a while now and still happy with it.

I loved it! Especially those effects with such definition, that stereo effect, particularly the percussionI have to learn how to do that. The voice narration is the icing on the cake. Great job.

Thanks, glad you like it. The vocals are used mostly as is, only some chopping and one word pitched a tiny bit. The percussion is a different story :) I mostly use Sitala(1) to create my drums, 16 sample positions with shape, tuning, volume, compression, tone and pan knobs, and all om those knobs can be used in your DAW's automations. The Sitala audio can be routed to 16 stereo channels in the DAW, and that is what I did, so you have full control for each "instrument". In this track I have automations on the kick (Shape, Volume, Tuning) and hand clap (Tone, Tuning). The kick Volume could also been handled via the separate audio track, but as I was playing with several automations on the kick at the same time it was better to have them in one place. On the separate audio tracks I have FX effects on snare, closed hi-hat, hand clap, maraca and rim shot:
Snare: "JS: Ping Pong Pan" a JSFX tool to have the pan gliding back and forth (standard in REAPER, you can even see/mod the code).
Hand Clap, Maraca and Rim Shot have "JS: Echo Cycles (by Geraint Luff)" a tool for setting up a delay triggered by note or LFO with many controls.
REAPER handles JSFX natively but there is a VST for other DAW's.
Check https://www.realinks.net/links/ysfx/ for the VST to run JSFX
https://www.realinks.net/links/saike-jsfx-workshop/ and https://geraintluff.github.io/jsfx/ for some great JSFX tools. And all of it is for free.

Have fun :)

Incredibly ambient and cool - I felt it was a bit Avant-Garde. The percussion is fabulous and that mysterious vibe is weird and wonderful.

Thanks, glad you like it. I was blown away by the vocals, had to try to use them, but the strange synth was there before the vocal :) For the percussion I try to explain in the comment to juankar.

"As always, far from perfect, but incredibly entertaining!"

I completely agree with the second part of your sentence, which I'm quoting here. The first part, however, I don't *smiles*.
For me, you're one of the truly great sound designers and mixing specialists on SoundCloud. Even seasoned professionals can still learn a lot from you. Your constant experimentation is always fascinating. And your unwavering loyalty to those three chords has something wonderfully unique about it.
Daniela's voice over it, simply perfect.
You've orchestrated the whole thing so harmoniously that "Strange" feels very distinct. *smiles
A fantastic achievement.

Warm regards,
Manuela

Thank you Manuela, I'm honoured, but I guess you give me more credit as I deserve :) This one started by creating 4 4 bar drum loops, then I tried to find synth presets I wanted to work with, found a sound with a wobble in it, turned it into a sample, reversed and chopped it, and completed it with normal (midi) play, it became the main sound loop. Then when looking for something different, someone else's vocal, found Daniela's voice and the journey started. I like most of my creations I start in C and found out later that the singing part was in C# hence the split in key. For the mixing, I normally work using a audio headset and studio speakers, to check sub bass issues I have a studio headset, but all cheap stuff ;), for further testing I use ear plugs and my latest tool is my new Android phone, due to the lesser audio quality it is perfect to check the mix, like loudness or bass issues really pop out.

But again, thanks for the praise, but at the end it's all feeling not a studied craft. Therefore each time I start without a plan and the outcome is uncertain, a surprise or a road to nowhere, and I have 7 of them this year already.

I take a bow to you as artist, and up to the next one :)

Regards

Man this is awesome!
Can ya share this acapella on this site?
You've got some Moby's style voice, not sure but in this track it reminds me exactly this way

As I'm not a singer and the inferior quality got smoothed by the music, I won't upload the acapella here but will PM you with a link ;)

I think your vocals add much to Robin's music, making it truly shine. The lyrics blend beautifully with the musical style, leaving space for personal reflection and emotion, which the music naturally invites. These vocals definitely resonate with my aesthetic.
Best wishes, Anthony

Thanks Anthony, glad you like it. I can't sing well, but that doesn't stop me from trying. Fortunately, I am getting better and better at using the tools to hide my imperfections ;)

The idea is really great. The sound has a strong 90s electronic hybrid vibe, which I really enjoy, and your vocals fit very nicelythey add a unique character to the composition.

That said, just to offer some constructive feedback as well, I feel the mix could be a bit more balanced. With some adjustments (Im not referring to mastering), it could highlight the tracks unique style even more.

Of course, you may not be professional sound engineers, but with a bit more attention to the mix, it could help the listener connect more easily with the weird and distinctive side of the track. Overall, with a little refinement, this could become a really interesting piece. Congrats my friend

Thanks, glad you like it, and thanks for the feedback.

I am just a hobbyist who likes to tinker; I do not strive for fame or fortune and am absolutely not a sound engineer, or even a singer. I have tinnitus and miss some frequencies because of it, but oh well, it's just a hobby. For professional quality, you could ask Robin for the stems, perhaps reuse my idea, adapt the lyrics, and find a good singer (or singers) to produce a professional track that might actually stand a chance of becoming successful; it would be nice if my ideas led to something good :)

Robins work is as-is, just touched the ending, but I used Ozone Imager to add some extra width on the beat and vocals.

But again, thanks for the comment and feedback, appreciate it.

You always have interesting ideas, my friend, and what you did here is no exception. The stuff u do with Robin and I, separately or as The loserz club, always works well. Speaking of, im nearing the end of my work on The Monzder Squadd album as well as The Loserz Club's 2nd project, I intend to release them together. Itd be awesome if you added something to another Loserz Club song when its ready. You've got credit on 2 already, and they both have alot of character. You'll receive a link for the double-album when its done, by the way. Its turning out to be exceptional

You have made a beautiful track together.

The most beautiful thing of all is the collaboration between Grandpa and grandson.

...like DanMed said , amazing journey guys - great track....!!!! I think that the reference to Linux in the top of your description is somehow related to the grandson's name....and I wish your grandson makes the difference in his life and has the success of the great Linus Torvald !!

Cool Sidechaining to open this tune. Some elements of old School Trance as well. I do like the chord change choices, which show a sense of musicality. I would love to hear the Kick more prevalent in the mix, and maybe some more Bassline, but this is a very nice tune, guys. Well Done!

Thanks for the listen and glad you like it. The opening sidechaning (envelopes) is a combination of a Vital "LD Euro Brass" preset filter 1 cutoff + sitala kick tone.
There is no bass In this one :) But it's a good idea to pickup for a second remix

Hi Frenz,
I can only echo the praise of the previous commenters!
If I remember correctly, this isn't the first song you've produced with your grandson. The technical execution is once again flawless great rhythm, no overpowering bass or drums, everything is perfectly balanced.

Best regards,
Manuela

Hi Manuela, thanks for the listen and comment. You are correct, once ad a while I take some equipment to the grandkids, and sometimes I go home with new recordings to be used as tracks or as ad-libs in other tracks. Balanced, still no mastering besides a limiter and high pass/low pass to stay between 20 - 22000 Hz on the master track ;)

Now this is some beautiful EDM here, I really dig this! It's like the early 2000's again, takes me back to happier times and a solid club banger! I'll echo what @Kayos2 said, this is some fabulous Armand Van Helden vibes! Killer flow and sound, even better since you included your grandson into the session. Strong work and great stuff! Thanks for the trip back into the "00s.

Had to check YT ;) shifting to house? haha ;)
