This is REALLY interesting track, TheFrenZ! Hypnotic bass and percussion foundation, with a really eclectic second layer of SFX, another layer of vocals, and yet another layer of synth melody lines, all weaving in and out. Panning of the various components was really well done and the overall mix was really clear, with all parts having their distinct places in the frequency spectrum. I liked, especially, that you kept a decent amount of dynamic range in the mix, particularly for a dance track. Really enjoyed it.
Hi Eric, glad you like it, thanks for the comment. I'm a jealous of you and some others here on LM who can dissect a song and lift out musical and technical details. I'm missing knowledge and years of experience in the music world, I'm just playing around in Reaper on my laptop for allmost 18 months now. And with my age I will never become an expert like you guys and girls.
Back to the music: Except for the thunder and my vocals, it's all MIDI and this time for the majority the Massive VST. I create my own melodies, drum paterns, automations. I mix my own creations but don't master, I seldomly use compressors, I use limiters where needed to shave off peaks that occur due to sound stacking, I don't participate in the loudnesswar. True peak: -0.3, Clips: 0, LUFS-I: -13.3, LRA: 2.8. LRA could be better but I didn't focus on it. And all of that just for the fun of creating.
Hello Frans,
a friend of mine, who sadly passed away many years ago, was listening to this kind of meditation music all the time. However I was never able to calm me down to produce this kind of slow meditational music for him. Maybe the ADHD thing. However I love this kind of music and very well done! Cheers, Oli
Thanks Oli, and sorry you lost your friend. I listen to Dj sessions most of the time, once and a while when I wake up in the middle of the night and can't catch my sleep again (thinking of the music I'm working on or the response I should write on LM haha) I switch on the radio channel Yoga Flow and a lot of this music passes by, normally good enough to catch my sleep again, else I have to switch to DanceTV :-)
My creation process isn't set before I start, in this case I just began on a simple melody for a pad having some extras at 60 BPM, slowly found instruments and create new parts, no idea what to create at forehand. Trail and Error, the same process I used while programming in the past.
Revisited this - so darned atmospheric - this time I saw a nightmare being played out in one of the caves in Wookey Hole, Cheddar, UK. I visualised a boat surrounded by vapour and smoke and swirling spirit forms swooping the rower
Hello TheFrenZ, very well done ambient piece, from beginning to end I was impressed and pleased with this track , including the to short guitar piece by your nephew....he should do more.....great job by both of you.
Well, this was very successful trying i would say. Epic journey from start to the end. You, my friend, are very good in making ambiental music and i would like to hear more of such music from you. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!
Hello TheFrenZ, tons of Imagination and musical ideas help this come to life im sure, there's quite a bit of twist and turns wrapped around effects, synths, and you name it.....its a nice mixture of ideas and sounds that work well.....nice track.
Really creative piece, gets me thinking of the 80's and some arcade machines for some reason. I like it. This would be really good for a RPG game, especially the last part
Lovely track with lots of movement - parts of it reminded me of 'Small Town Boy' by Bronski Beat. There's a splash of Dr Who in there, too. Beautifully composed and an enjoyable trip to the dancefloor
Hello TheFrenz, just checked out your track , nice variety of electronic elements and effects that works well in producing this work.....nice job my friend.
Wow...that makes your track so special...Heel goed gedaan Frans.
Thanks, glad you like it.

All sounds in this song where produced by or passed my mouth (vocal), no synths, drums or samples. The sounds I produced became drums, bass, lead, pluck, etc. In some cases assisted by the ReaSamplOmatic5000 sampler to support MIDI. On top various effects. Pads = vocals with effects.
.
The "peppertchebcheb" like sound at 00:13 are actually a mouth sounds you can recreate: In front of your microphone form your mouth for an O and tap with your fingers against your cheek, repeat that every half bar for 11 times, then shrink the recording to the replay speed of 23.8 times, then make a copy with a replay speed of 15.9, then automate the PAN to change from left to right during the sounds, a nice delay/reverb op top and done.
.
The "peppertchebcheb" like sound at 00:27 is again a mouth sound you can reproduce: In front of your microphone place your tongue against your upper lip and let it shoot away under tension, repeat that every half bar for 8 bars long, then shrink the recording to the replay speed of 16.5 times, it becomes less then half a bar, then automate the PAN to change from left to right during the sound, a nice delay/reverb op top and done.
.
Or is it the "drum"?

Thanks for listening. Yes crypts, haunted house, dragon lair, creepy feel to it. And all evolved into this because I wanted to try to use only 1 audio source for the complete track.
