Ha ha, thanks! I just decided that the overall sound wasn't dark enough to warrant the use of the word "Hell" so heck it is, lol.
...and yeah I can definitely use that bit of advice, I do believe I will go back and rearrange things so that the harder part is more in the middle of the song!
I will definitely come check you out soon, I just have to get this little project wrapped up real quick.
Yeah, this is pretty tough, digging the hats and cymbal splashes, timings are spot on, noticed this also in your track 'Fluff'...love the modulation on the snare sound, some more higher synth or string sounds might work a treat to balance out the deepness but I dunno sounds real nice to me.
I will definitely try those suggestions out! It would probably work better than my current approach, lol. Currently, it gets to the halfway point, then erupts into this ear-shattering "apocalyptic death synth" sound, lol.
It's cool but most people probably wouldn't get it, lol. I'll have to let you hear it one of these days!
Thanks for stopping by, I'll leave you some more reviews when I get the spare time tonight!
When I first saw the title, I automatically thought about my belly button lol
Love the soft textures here and the padded beat, has a mellow trance feel to it also, cant find any criticism except make it longer but I see you already pointed that out, yeah could have easily listened to an extended version, again the melodies you create are just awesome, hope in time you plan on putting up some loops.
Glad you liked it! I immediately think of lying down and staring into the clouds when I hear this one... not belly button lint, lol!
I do plan on putting up some loops real soon, .wav and .rex2 files. The only problem I have is that my synth tracks depend soooo much on effects, they sound terrible without them! I'll just have to remember to point that out I guess, or render only the previews with effects.
Thanks for listening, it's always good to hear your thoughts and ideas!
Very nice ambiance you've created with this chilled out track. It gives me that nice airy feeling, like floating on those big white fluffy clouds in the sky. Great job!
Repetitive or not, this song has some nice quality synths and keyboard playing. Lovely arpeggios. It does have a certain Asian flair to it in those arpeggios. Good job!
Kablonk! Ahahah now this choon is STUCK IN ME HEAD
ahahahaha great job!
Nice groovy melody and I luv those stringz! Real mellow
vibe to them... good song to relax to!
My signature sound is like a thick foreign accent that simply refuses to ever go away! Not a bad thing at all though, lol.
This was one of those tracks that I didn't have to fight with too much, it just sort of put itself together in a matter of a day or so. Another lucky accident I guess, lol!
Hey Koukotsu, so great to see the Queen of melodies back on the loop, listening to this track it feels like you have never been away...if someone else posted this track, I would have immediately thought of you, seriously its your sound as I remember it...pure MIDI!!....Looking forward to more of your work. peace.
Track takes you there... Work the brake down abt,1/3 in make it raw no fx, build up slow, add fx, and high, low tweeks, let that groove stay with you. for the DJ to mix in or out... very good.
Yes quite possibly, I'm working on another track for a friend of mine (Goes by Koble on this site) but I can probably find some spare time to collaborate.
I agree with jfw in that you have matured a bit(musically speaking)since you were here last. I like the darker tone to this one and the pace of it, not rushed. That adds tension, I feel, and with the darker feel to it that adds up to a good listen, a bit cinematic too. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the review! I've always aimed for diversity, I like to surprise people every now and then, lol. But yeah, the underlying "Koukotsu-ness" will never go away!
This one should be getting updated soon, I'm far from done with it; Everything is a work in progress for me, lol.
I remember this little gem!! Hey, great to see you back and posting again. I think this could be made a bit brighter on the eq side of things but it still holds it own as far as a track idea goes. Great to hear your music again!!
some ideas:
1.) keep the dark undertone.
2.) i know its a trance song but i think the pace is too slow, not so much slow... the variety that is there is fantastic so it needs to jump faster through each section of the song. i think.
- This might sounds stupid at first but think about the really amazing trance songs, there is such genius and variety while keeping the same undertones. If you arent a genius yet at it or have enough changeups in the track and then cycle back older parts, then why not go for a faster paced but still trance-y sounding song. The darkness to it might not be a bad thing to incorporate more into your style. it too, adds depth and variety to whatever you do. why not go for the best you can make it. the most interesting. exciting. thts my idea anyway.
what do you think?
3.) im not good enough yet to recommend anything else xD
I wish I hadn't read the name of the piece, because I'm dying to know if it's fluffy because you've planted that idea, or if as I suspect you've truly found "fluff" in sonic form.
We've been watching "Dreamkeeper" the last few nights (a bit at a time), and there are scenes of Coyote and Spider, the Tricksters, in their own plane of existence (the fuzzy boundary). Even on the third listen to this, I keep seeing sheep and what the archetype of soft-wool would be like in that Spirit Realm. I'm positive it would look just as this track sounds.
That is very, very cool indeed!
Doing this kind of music, I'm going to suggest when you have the time to pull up The Ambient Logbook thread here and spend some time browsing it. I think you'll find some really good ideas to draw from as you continue to explore "Floaty, spacey, weird" music! You do it so well.
Someone once described my sound as like "being wrapped in a marshmallow" lol, headphone mastering maybe?
I will definitely pull that thread up and read over it, pure Ambient has always been a bit of a challenge for me because I tend to rely on strong drumbeats to drive my tracks.
The inspiration I get from this community is like no other, it motivates me to branch out into unexplored territory, lol.
Thanks so much for reviewing, your beautiful imaginative descriptions are always welcome!
I pulled this up, and ShojoBeast ran to the top of the stairs and shouted, "You're listening to 'Lizard Breath!'" I said, "How do you know that?" and she replied, "Because I have it on my iPod!"
How it is in 2011.
I'll bet you anything this is more "dated" in your ears than anyone else's. The last time I listened to anything I recorded 2 years ago, I nearly cringed - lol. Really it's not so bad, but I think like in writing, you can't help but think "I'd do that so differently if I was doing it now." Good sign really as it means continual growth.
I've always considered this to be one of my "beginner's luck" songs, lol. Every time I open the project file with the intention of "improving" it, I do the exact opposite!
Thank you so much for listening and reviewing, it really means a lot to me.
Sweet piece Miss! Reminds me of a anime girl running from something, a nameless creature, a shadow. Love it. Love it love it love it! Puts me in a creative mood.
faving and dl.
Miss Shojo
Hey! You're back! I really loved this track. Very fluffy. It reminded me of sheep and a neon dance party. (P.S. This is a perfect song for doing your homework!)
Good to see you again.
Miss Shojo
I had to do a double take.....my peripheral vision caught your name....Interesting that, and I'm glad it's turned out to be more than an ephemeral vision....very cool to see you back!...Everyone's music is a small reflection of themselves in some way I guess..this is full of energy, optimism and a fair degree of electronic melancholia......fantastic!! :)
Hopefully I've matured a bit during the off season, and I don't think I'll be running away again anytime soon!
Thanks so much for the review, I shouldn't even have to say that I'm eager to get over to your profile and hear what you've been up to since I've been away.
