Beautifully done here. The keyboard progression is so catchy. The drums are so wide. Are they live recorded? The sax sounds really good as well. Great work!
Thanks so much for your comment. Really glad you like it and took time to leave your kind words.
Since I play the drum parts, I'm especially more picky about their sound. I use an Alesis drum kit since it's much easier for recording than my acoustic kit. The sax is actually a VST instrument. I wanted trumpet like the original, but it just didn't sound as good as the sax.
Love it and it sounds so authentic ... it's the real deal!
I've heard quite a few New Orleans funeral tunes in this kind of style but usually heavier on the bass drum because it's for a march.Keep telling myself I've gotta go out and buy some of this stuff and then forget. Thanks for the reminder.
This really does sound like the real thing and what a great ending! Faved and downloading now.
This is maybe not realy my style but it sounds fantastic real.
I came here to listen how Dixiland will sound on looperman and i have to say - it sounds great -
Nice composition. I always had the feeling of - could it be that i know that? - Realy well played and nicely mixed.
Wow, you've really captured the genre's joyful feelings of nostalgia. I bet uncle John will be tapping away to this with a grin on his face. I know I was :)
I bet uncle John must have been very pleased when he heard this one, the same way as I am!:)This is just fantastic and so damn rare thing to hear here on Looperman. This dixieland is full of genuine charm and deserves 11 out of 10 !:)
Thanks allot, Orlando. I really appreciate your kind words. I'm actually surprise; upon writing this, there is actually 4 fav'd and 4 downloads! That's more than I would have expected. Maybe there's hope for it, afterall!
I've been working on a dixieland type style with some rock thrown in for a few months. This one is more authentic though. I am a fan of dixieland and have a few greatest hits cd's. It's energetic and full of power.
You really managed to put this song in a specific time period, great job with the arrangement and instrument selection and performance. The horns are great and the banjo sounds cool as well. Way cool vocals and crowd noise.
Thanks so much, Wayne. I really appreciate your kind words. I look forward, and will be watching for your Dixieland track. Your music is very creative and I always click on it when I see it.
Thank YOU, Mr. Danke! So glad you like it and also the final minute. I wanted to simulate a crowd chanting, so I just recorded myself about 8 time and changed the pitch and off-set each track slightly.
My uncle heard it for the first time today and he liked it. He was real good friends with Turk Murphy back in the day.
You're right... Every genre has it's fans. I skip all the rap and hip-hop and usually the heavy metal unless I know the person. My styles are mostly jazz and funk. On occasion I'll do some rock and pop if I find some nice vocals to work around. I also work with Musicante here with some other styles.
Don't usually listen to pop that much, but has a really nice chilled out vibe. Really enjoying brass/sax sounds just now and it's sounding awesome in this, did you record it yourself? The vocals that are in this fit well, but I think it's screaming out for some proper singing! A lot of different instruments, fits together really well! Good Job!
Nice work here Scott. Sorry, I'm just finding this awesome track. I love all the sounds you used and loved all the variation used. All in all great job here!
Really cool bassline, kinda reminds me of kavinsky with the police sirens :) Would be awesome with some soulful female vocals on it! Drums sounds pretty good too, especially the toms. I read your profile and see you are a drummer, can definitely tell, wish I could make drums as varied as this. Overall nice funky disco vibe, love it!
track gets my attention instantly with the choir, keeps it with a cool guitar.
I think if you made this track shorter and got someone like EpicRecord to sing on it, it could be really cool
Thanks alot for your comment. Actually, I tried to cut the time down a bit, but it always seemed to take out a part that I liked, so I just kept it at this length.
I'd love to have vocals on some of my tracks, but am a little uncomfortable asking people. I don't like putting them on the spot.
absolutely remember the Peggy Lee version...classic in every way...gotta have that standup bass for sure....I think Easy Evil would be my all time Peggy Lee fav (had in on vinyl)...but I actually liked the version of it John Kay did in the 80 even better...great job Scott...I appreciate that you kept the mix quite minimal with just the synth strings adding a bit of air in the background...Iguess there wouldn`t be many singers that could do that soulful style that Peggy did but it sounds good as an instrumental....enjoyed this one man....Ed
Thanks allot, Ed. Glad you like it. This and 'Pass me by' are my two favorites, but don't really listen to her much. It was one my mom liked, so thought I'd give it a go. Will have to check out 'Easy Evil,' though.
i really love the jazz drum riffs. beatiful, classic stuff. a great nod back to a great old tune that won't die. it will be even better when (not if) you find the vocalist!
Thanks allot, MS. Glad you like it. Shelly Mann did a great drum track with one of her versions, so was inspired by his style. He played his toms with his hands. It's on youtube if you want to check it out.
A great song and a very nice cover. I had to go fetch my fedora and a scotch and soda so I could feel badass whilst I listened to it. I probably didn't look like a badass, but I felt like one. So thanks for that!
First 30 seconds, I thought this is so Led Zepp tribute...awesome chords there...than the unique progressivity of your own...marvellous instrumentations and vocalisations over there...like the rhythm guitar balancing from right to left than fro...
Vocs are brilliant as said before...
