Alright, This sounds cool as a cucumber mate. Now i see why you were after that sax. Nice floaty vibes just in time for the sunshine. You certainly know how to put a house track together Mr Shoe.
I find it strange that there's only 4 downloads. Quality free music and they still just "me me me" ..... i dunno.

eassssy :p

thanks for the compliment mate! I think it's one of those acquired tastes to be fair n I didn't really expect *that* many people to download it - a lot of people prefer their house music with that avicii (or whatever), david guetta, deadmau5 sort of vibe nowadays.. (look at me talking like an old man!)

I'm gonna go for that sort of "big club" vibe next time me thinks :)

This is what a chill track is supposed to sound like... if you were to add maybe one or two more tracks to it, maybe sidechain the synth and bass to your kick and add some pump to the atmosphere. It's a damn near perfect track.
WongKiShoo
WongKiShoo replied 7th Mar 2012 - 13 years ago
Thanks a lot buddy!

I did briefly try sidechaining the bass but it sounded pretty loose.. I didn't attempt to sidechain the synth but it couldn't hurt to try it n see! I'll give it a go tomorrow when I start mixing down :)

As for adding one or two more tracks.. believe me I've tried - It's what would round the track off perfectly imo .. it's just a case of finding the right sound!

Again, thanks a lot man - I'll have to stop by and drop a rev your way too ;)

Hi there
I am doing a vocal for this track but I'm having problems getting the right bpm and key for this track.Even my bpm detector is throwing out bizzare numbers. Please let me know what it was recorded in.Love the track and think I have a strong vocal for it.I just need the details.

This is epic and i am looking forward to hearing the finished tune.
I especially like the synth and drums although i'd like it to go back to the begging then start the drop again. :)

As for your suggestion, I think I might try and incorporate your idea into the track when I get round to finishing it - eventually.

I'll let you know when it's finished..

16 downloads and counting Mr Shoo. Thanks for not being a big stinge and sharing that.
I'm not going to bother with the usual a$$ kissing malarkey as i think a download speaks for it's self. Instead i'd just like to ask what kit you used to do that? I'm looking to broaden my horizons and there's some sounds in that which are unfamilaiar territory to the DAW i'm currently using. You can never have too much ammunition in your arsenal if you know what i mean?

Ummmmm, kit.

I haven't used any hardware, just some vst's..

Drums, percussion and fx - vengeance sample packs.
Basses - sylenth1 for the electro bit,.. sub from nexus
Synths - sylenth1, nexus and vanguard

Surely you've come across those on your travels??

Thanks again!

In a bit mate o/

Despite being mixed under cans, thru my monitors this sounds pretty sweet.Nice punchy kick which cuts thru and loving the sidechain work...really pulls the track together.Interested to hear this with vox.Good luck man, nice job.

Nice! I honestly think you've incorporated elements from the past and some of the future. At the start it's a bit retro sounding but as you progress it reaches today's standards. Nice!

I'm really curious about this with vocals so let me know once you have those on top of it.

On the mixing side I'd say it's a bit scratchy and that may happen for a number of reasons. Leaving monitoring conditions aside...I'd say you've cut way to much low end out of every track and kinda lost the weight of the song in the process. The kick is clicky and kinda lacks punch.

Although I made it sound worse than it is the song still has a great quality and the sound is good just a bit to bright (might be personal taste as well)

Cheers!

WongKiShoo replied 20th Feb 2012 - 13 years ago
Thanks for the rev mate!

This was mixed using headphones entirely and no doubt suffered as a result..

The frequency range of said headphones don't really allow me to hear anything below 50hz clearly enough and I generally do start cutting quite steeply below that frequency anyway.. Some food for thought on future mixing!

As for the brightness, I do like my high's :) .. but again, I don't really get to hear the mix results on decent speakers before I render.. something that will be remedied in the next couple of months when I start buying my new gear.

I'll be sure to let you know if I do get vocals on this - I've been waiting since October for them so I dunno if I should hold out much hope tbh lol - but then again, the reviewer below might come up with something decent! We shall see..

Thanks again dude :)

on To The House Beat by WongKiShoo
Lovin the pads & voc-sam ya got on here! Was just thinkin that it might be cool if ya had a part that went along with the beat goin somethin like "to tha - to tha - to tha - to the house beat " (real fast with the "the" part kinda cut off). Sorta like Spiv did on his rmx during the lil drum fill. Can totally see why he would wanna remix this track (such driving grooves to it). The originators in Chicago would get a kick outta this. Cheers!

Hey Toonz (aka Wonkey Shoe)

This is a superb piece of music my friend! I'm feeling an awesome cinematic vibe to this track which superbly compliments the Drum and Bass energy. I could see this in a film.

Beautifully mixed and produced, a real powerful, driving force of a track! I hope you do decide to finish it, but it's powerful enough if you dont. Great work my friend.

Whoaaa! This track just blew my mind! I'd be interested to know where you got your beats/ samples for the beats from..?

D&B is really hard to make. I love the genre but it's really hard to make a track stand out. A struggle that we don't seem to share!

Really, really great. I look forward to hearing a finished one...? (You said 'so far' in your description)
WongKiShoo
WongKiShoo replied 22nd Jan 2012 - 13 years ago
Drum & Bass *is* a really difficult genre, you're right... I wouldn't be able to make the drum loops.. I just haven't got the patience.

If you want loops, primeloops offer free little taster packs which include a few.. just go around and collect all the free ones and you'll have a pretty decent library after a while lol

Yeah this aint finished yet.. Still gotta add like, another 3 minutes to it. Just a bit stuck on phase 2 atm.

Thanks for stopping by man :)

Definitely good with that Piano roll :P I really like it - it is more trance than house I'd say but you already mentioned your position on that!

I'l like to hear more compression and eq on the master channel. Flick through some of the presets on Fruity's multiband compressor and see if you like it!

Overall great tune tho man, really listenable

WongKiShoo replied 22nd Jan 2012 - 13 years ago
Yeahhh it's really annoying. I do get carried away experimenting with sounds and I just put what ever I like the sound of in to the mix.. So my tracks suffer from genre(gender?) confusion lol

I *will* make a firm house track one of these days!!

As for the multiband EQ, I never actually use the one on FL.. Instead I use the multiband compressor that comes with Ozone. Maybe I'll try your suggestion and see which one gets a better sound :)

Thanks for the suggestion mate!

Hm the stereo imaging on this so far is really good. and the sounds are pretty high quality. i'm liking where this is going man. and i don't mean to bash on the title, but maybe another title would fit, something that isn't as generic sounding. because let's face it i've just heard at least like the 100th song that has to do with the "world." whether it was on top of the world, around the world, all over the world. it just gets repetitive ya know? when i make a track i try really hard to give it the most obscure title lol and just typing "into the night" on youtube theres a handful of these songs with your same title. sorry for jabbering, it's just one of those things. and i'm usually pretty decent with titles, how about calling instead of "into the night" you consider "Crystal in the Ruff" hmm that's not actually halfbad..well that's just my suggestion. don't have to use it! sweet job so far brudda

Wow man,

Most people just comment on the music rather than write a whole paragraph about how lame the title is? lol

The title to me is far less important than the actual music content - I barely even take track names in to account when I listen to other members songs (or mainstream for that matter). You on the other hand, take titles far more seriously I see..

Thanks for the suggestions and the thorough review of my title :)

It is something I wouldn't normally listen too. Because the intro suggests one style and after that it goes to another style. On the other hand, I just like music and how it blends together. I am stuck here skill-wise wishing I could play or mix or something. I'm impressed with your production and mix.

This is awesome...I like the way it kicks up a few notches. It might be just me, but this tune reminds me of Wolfgang Gartner a bit, which is definitely a good thing. What would happen if you pumped up the bass just a tad?

Hey Leachim!

That certainly is a lofty comparison, even if only a small one, thank you! :D

I thought the bass sounded fine in my head phones.. I haven't really heard it on a big system, but I guess I could always use a bit of sub for emphasis :)

Thanks bro!
