story of my life ha. you’re firing on all cylinders for all the negativity and beautiful snottiness. i was thinking richard hell and the voidoids, waiting for a quine solo when in steps the theremin, yeah man that works! it’s all rock and roll, dude. hope this finds you in good fortune, wayne!
great intro Wayne, your brand and delivery are stamped bro you have always delivered. this with its old skool London punk style is class and takes me back to when it was bang in fashion. you are having a ball with your new kit your loving that moog theremin lead eh.
i use to do alot of calibration for Moog aerospace :))
There's a lot of this kinda music being made these days. It's more modern rock to me than classic rock even tho it's roots are solidly bedded in the "classic" rock style. I think of the Black Keys, for instance. I'm doing music in that general style without trying to directly sound like them.
You get your style from your music heroes, nicking this off that guy and this thing off of that guy. Like John Prine, he's another guy who I take his lyric writing style to heart, some humor, weird situations in the songs and great stories. Combine good lyrics with some cool, modern sounding classic rock or punk, well that's a formula that excites me musically!
Hey Wayne, man, that rocks! You're really into this harder style. I once had a Gibson Les Paul Standard and initially sent it over the Guv'nor, then later used it over a Marshall tower and I have to say that the Guv'nor didn't look that bad in comparison, of course not a replacement, but not bad after all. I think the synth fits exactly - for my taste it's better than a guitar solo in this track. A great listen .. You are always convincing...
Cheers,
Micky
I'm glad you liked it, wasn't sure how this would go over. It's a bit loud and in your face with my usual, down on his luck, complaining character that I've been developing these past few years. Hope people don't take these songs as my personal life, man I'd be one sad sack, lol.
The theremin works, I had no intention of putting anymore guitar down, there's enough going on with the distortion on the guitars and the bass. I wanted the solo to be the theremin, it cuts thru the thick guitars, plus it's freekin' cool, lol!
Gaining more confidence in my singing, absolutely. Been working hard at developing my delivery, grit and attitude. It's like performing, you gotta sell the track. Some people have this naturally, not me. I'm a bass player not a front man. Having fun with it.
Wooohooo!!! wanyne's world is always ROCKING! \M/ man I love your energy! and of course that gruff in your voice this is RAD! Excellent work as always. You certainly know how to entertain. WTG! Bravo!!!
I had a listen to the original it was perfect for that time and still now I guess depending on who's listening but your version is absolutely *ROCKING* as always nice rendition here, the one thing I like is hearing updated versions of songs from an era gone by and you definitely did it justice! your vocals are compelling as ever and love that grit in your voice, it;s all yours, yep, liked every thing about this... got me thinking...your vocals would sound awesome on the song "Diamonds And Rust" heard it by both Joan Baez/Judas Priest such a beautiful song which I myself have recorded before. GREAT! Work!
Scrolling thru the comments as I started listening, saw the link to the original so had a listen. I really like both! Your vox performance on this one is great. Is it just the two main guitar tracks? Sounds really fat and wide.
Hi
I also started listening to the original first.
She has a beautiful voice but only uses guitar.
Personally, I find it quite boring.
But you have made a very nice cover of it with beautiful music that makes listening more pleasant.
That's what I would recommend, watch her vid first then check out my version. Here is the studio version of this song, there is quite a bit of instrumentation, to me has a gypsy or bohemian feel to it. I love it, blew me away as a 6 or 7 year old, same as her other hits.
great cover Wayne love the title i dont know it but i'll take Bou's word this is better than the original. great old school feel great guitar and the harmonica is fly bro excellent folk rock
I like her music, she was talented and unique in her approach to songwriting. You might know here song Brand New Key, been in some movies and quite a popular song if you know your music history.
Haha I didn't know the original and didn't know that was an actual title.
I think your version is better than what she did with it!
I was looking forward to hearing you sing in French though ;)
I was thinking about singing the French parts but decided to do the version where she sings the na, na, na's. I took 7 years of French in high school and college so I have some practice with the French accent, oui.
Hey Wayne, mate love listening to your tunes as you seem to have a knack with most genres you do which is always pleasing to the ear, crystal clear n great playing of your instruments. great track to start the sunday morning off here in OZ.. excellent work my friend, Fav'd Peace n much Respect Wayne...mos...
Hey friend, listening to piece on headset, loving the harmonic very nice in the background, and when the main feature in between the vocals very crisp sound mate filling headset out very nice, with everything sounding great from this end my friend, fav Peace n much respect Wayne...mosaic...
I'm finally getting to the point I'm starting to like my mixes, a long and winding road it's been. The last few years I've been concentrating on gain staging, been helpful. Plus I'm recording at 96,000 hz and I have some decent instruments and mics so I'm getting quality recordings to start with.
Funny you mentioned the movie that's out, once I started the vocal track and got the Santa Fe idea started I knew immediately I was going to go in that direction towards the Trinity test and all that, ha! I haven't seen the movie yet either but I've seen every documentary and lecture there is on youtube about it. Teller fucks Oppy over big time with all the investigations into him, what a dick.
Sorry, hope I didn't ruin the movie for ya but it was in all the papers, lol.
Hey Wayne! look at you still going strong. What a wild ride, love the instrumentations, the harmonica is great. The wobbly bassline, and the zither sound so many great combinations and the tip top your awesome vocals. man I've missed this place!!

I wrote it many times that your "vintage" attitude is outstanding, as here ... :-)
I imagine some record sound with some scratch on it ... :-)
fistbump bro, Danke
Welcome to Wayne's world, where the music & lyrics are super duper ROCKING! :) This is absolutely RAD! & such an enjoyment to listen to, btw that mouth organ is stealing the show. EXCELLENT!!! Work!
That's a great song Wayne!Great drumming too! and the harmonica and whatever that thing is around 0:59. Bass totally on point too.
You absolutely exceeded yourself!
(Btw isn't it Santa Fe, or is that a reference to Tina? ;) )
hi Wayne great vocal, well written, love the harmonica, nice guitar work too, the mix is crisp, the production is cool and the end was cool too. great work as usual
i hear that bumblebee scream, all right. beautiful tones abound. what a fine tune, sad but thrilling like the scent of her perfume.
i’m scraping a few bucks together for a ‘new’ used guitar and you’ve become a big influencer for les with yer delivery on this!
great hearing you, Wayne!
I never write the words out before I start singing, I just get an idea for the lyrics, hit the red button and start singing. Sometimes lines like "i heard a bumble bee scream" come out of nowhere. I don't know what it means but i liked it and left it in, he.
Good luck on your guitar safari. I paid $650 at Sweetwater for my Epiphone "inspired by Gibson" 60's Les Paul Standard which I think is a steal for these gems. Gibson has had some rough times lately and putting out an Epiphone that's pretty darn close to their Gibson line will get people, like me who doesn't want to pay 3 grand for a Gibby, to buy them. Plus all the vids on yt are nothing but praise for these. Keep me updated on your new git.

Another stunning performance ... guitar panning is too good as the "retro" sounded distortion ... very groovy, rolling, cozy track ...
fistbump,

Making the decision to add a new track playing just the E on the right helped. Left track - both pickups, right track - bridge pickup.

There is a solo in the track, 1:20-1:30. I mentioned it in the description, Moog theremin lead.
