Hey Wayne - love it as usual - different guitar sound (I think) bit more old school telecaster like sound or is it a different amp (or simulation) anyway I like it
A few weeks back I bought a new "inspired by Gibson" 60's Epiphone Les Paul Smokehouse Burst and a newly re-released "The Guv'nor" Marshall amp emulator pedal, the JCM 800 is the amp it is based on. Totally new sound and gives me a new approach to making music, harder edge. It's pretty awesome!
Hello, wonderful old school rock. Well played and sung clean. The guitar riffs are excellent and the accompanying guitar solo impressive. It really is a dead end road. Clean! Greetings Manuela
Some kids would probably poke it with a stick before calling the cops :D This is a very cool strange macabre song. absolutely unique as a piece of art. Great work. Makes me think of the film Stand by me.
Thanks Slimm! Poke with a stick, throw a rock at it, get an RV boat.... lol.
I was wondering if anyone would mention Stand By Me as it did come to mind as I was penning this one. It's a little dark I suppose but not meant to be, it just has that "off" sort of feel to it.
Hey Wayne, what a performance. The mandolin solo was great. What a story. Sounds it happened to you but I read your reply to Paul and I think this is a great idea. As alway: Enjoyed it! Greetings Matthias
No, it didn't happen to me, just a story thankfully. The mandolin was the last thing added and I think it worked in well with the electric guitar and the strings.
This is so surrealisticly cool :-) That mandolin kinda guitar is gorgeous at around 1.20 ... the whole one is a bit Nick Cave like for me ... dark alt one ... I know, I wrote many times but this is one of your best bro ... :-) fistbump with my like and dl of course, Danke
This one came together and I was surprised myself by the overall sound and feel of it, a happy accident as my favorite painter Bob Ross would say. I wasn't going to add any vocals at first because it was different sounding and I liked it. I didn't want to mess it up by adding vocals.
Alt/rock but no genre here. That Nick Cave is such a bad seed. sorry.lol
An interesting subject matter for a song I thought.
Hey, check out this hour long lecture from Gresham College that a professor, Carolin Roberts, gave about the science that happens when a body is found in a river. She is a specialist, it's pretty interesting.
I watch a lot of lectures from universities all over the world about interesting topics, mostly scientific. Weird subject matters can inspire interesting songs.
Hello Wayne, a very nice story that you tell. Great balade, well implemented and instrumented. Your guitar work and your singing are exceptionally good. The economical instrumentation makes this song very soulful. Great! Greetings Manuela.
It's weird how songs come together some times, this one is wide open and pretty basic. Wasn't sure if I was going to add vocals, took a couple days to get a vocal idea together but once the lightly morbid subject came the words spewed out of my mouth like a firehose, he.
The waveform is mostly because of the bass, it moves out the whole song and I wanted it to be the main instrument in the song. It does have an old school vibe, 50's feel to it but modernized and rocked up a bit more.
Glad you laughed at a man in a mid life crisis with a scandalous woman he randomly meets. Like an episode of Married with Children with Al Bundy. lol
Hello Wayne That's a fresh song. Something funny. Something dynamic. Something raw or rather wild. Something crazy. ..... So many something. Is it too many? NO, certainly not.
It's like cooking, there could/should be some spices in it.
For all those who thought that they would get something here that was almost tasteless and for those who hoped to get boring monotony here, this POP song is probably not for them.
But I liked it and I would like to have another plate full.
Tried to keep the song wide open for the lyrics, was commented on my previous song to leave more room for the vocals so I went overboard leaving the mix open for the vox, he.
It turned out good, fun. Got a decent response to the humor in it while trying to keep it sounding serious at the same time.
Thanks Joe! Haven't seen you around much, be well man!
my first thought when I read your title "Kansas City" was "Les Humphries". That's not surprising, though, because Kansas City is basically indissolubly welded to Les Humphries in my mind.
It was a band, a group from the 70s, named after the founder, an Englishman living in Hamburg at that time, which had hit after hit ("Kansas City" was one of the biggest of them) in Germany in those years. You will hardly know Les Humphries, of course, but from my generation, even today, everyone in Germany certainly knows him at once.
Hi Wayne, another original track that sounds live, as usual your voice does the job, I don't understand all the lyrics but it doesn't sound sad! good job my friend ! Michael
You are a writers writer. I can feel the honesty in every track I've ever heard of yours. It's like you can translate what you think into music with such ease. Over the years I feel like I know you, just from hearing your music.Always sounds LIVE...
I write music for me to enjoy. If others do than that's a bonus to me. If I put something together that isn't working for me than I know others probably won't dig it either.
I like writers that write simple straightforward songs like Eddie Spaghetti of the SuperSuckers or John Prine and Johnny Cash. Telling good stories comes across as honest music if you can get the listener to buy into the story you are selling as the singer.
Hell yeah, I hope this isn't autobiographical!! Or actually, thinking about it, it would be even cooler if it was true. You have a great knack of making these really fun, lighthearted and humorous songs. Excellent horns and guitars and drums and....
really good work Wayne love that extra grittyness in your vocal, the punk edge this carries is great, love a bit of Uk punk myself, the guitar for me was standout and along with the vocal are the two things that make this track what it is Real Punk Rock. i can imagine you singing this live in the pub bottles and ashtrays being thrown at you ducking and diving on the stage and tell the crowd to go F#ck themselves, great work mate i like a lot

Yes, what can I say, such a hassle but also, you find the hell nowhere an approach for criticism... then the song must be good.
Remains only: Exceptionally good!

Kansas City seems to dynamize... both with Les Humphries and with you! I really enjoyed listening to your version as well.
