I like the ambience you've created with this. It's like a Quentin Tarrantino soundtrack. Very nice production and composition.

This is super funky, don't know why no one else has reviewed yet. Very cool fusion of styles on this one! I like the bass line very much, it gives this song a pop edge. Really cool arrangement and orchestration! Thanks for sharing!

dude
agree with mistermeaner

i think you will crap your pants when you hear AIR ....
especially "Moon Safari"
you would be in their band if they knew you lol

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_(band)

anyway...

I do dig ....
But again

YOUR DRUMS... i just need more drums... they seem soo flat to me..
do you try reverb? or compression? dynamic compression?
EQ?
anything on the drum sample?

anyway

still love your style.
tight.

is that bass planetjazzbass? or you?!?!?
wow

either way, GREAT JOB PLAYING BASS!
I want to collab with you someday!!!!

wow...

snare different... something seems flat about the snare... It felt soo "flat"... On the snare clicks it was fine, but the whole sound.. I dunno.. maybe a piccolo sound would be better?
I have no idea...
I am just riffing ideas at you

have you tried mixing an electronic kit, and a real sounding kit like you have ? double up the midi? it may even out the sounds a little beef up that rhythm.
Plus with a little love and texturizing you could have yourself one powerful rhythm section that would still fit nice and snug in this little dreamland?

I love the bass tone too! don't get me wrong when I say this, but for SOME reason, I heard a phaser/flanger on the bass in my head along with the dreamy arpeggio xylophone from the 11th dimension. lol
The addition of maybe just one oscillating effect on the bass (lightly) might even take the whole mood of this track to a whole new level.

Anyway man, glad to meet your music!
Keep it up!

yep that's me on the bass. Thanks for the various reviews Gonna go back and rework the drums on most of the tracks. Mixing is pretty new to me so your advice is awesome - already treid compression last nite and it made a big diff in pulling the drums up in the mix.

Biggest gap is some synth texturing, somthing that can ebb and flow in the background. My vst instruments (SampleTank) are giving me som issues, so I haven't been able to make something tasty yet.

Do you know, or have any textures you could send or direct me to.

Working on another track right now and need that synth in order to complete the first mix.

It's bassy..very bassy...with some ethnic vibe in there too.,

lemme know if you can help

Cheers mate

A very relaxing song! I can't really think of any way you could improve on this. The melodies are really cool, and the beat is nice and jazzy. Wish I could understand the vocals though. Nice work!

Brutal honesty? All right - the bass is wicked and real. The reverb guitar in conjunction with the sax is brilliant, and the dialog you've got going on between the instruments...the way everything drops out except for the perc and bass line - Wow! The vocals do need to come up to the front - hell, maybe some Parisians might get bent if you've mispronounced something, but they're too much of a "tease" at the volume you've got them. "The Black Night" is an intriguing title and I found myself struggling to hear what you were saying. Singing in a language that's not your first takes real courage - don't hide them behind the instruments. Even so, I have to fav this one anyway as I'll be listening to it more than a couple times. Cheers.

10 Nov 09 UPDATE: Still a favorite. Fantastic work with this piece!

Thx much for the review and for adding as a fav...most unexpected (and appreciated).
I think I'll heed your advice and pull the vox up higher in the mix and see what flavor that brings. I hope to post a few others soon.

I love ya bass line!! It's sleazy and moody! The things that let it down in my opinion is the perc. it may be too live sounding, I would try and use electronic perc. Then i would try and build the track into the chord stabs and the horns with sweeps/breakdowns/risers, something. I would love to get my sticky hands on your bass line and the vox!!

Listen to anything by AIR and you'll know what i mean.

Cheers for the feedback. Still need to explore how to execute on the advice you've given as I'm new to the game. Will check AIR and see if I can connect. If you're serious about the getting the trax, I'll see if I can pull them and post or send direct to you via your inbox. Peace
