Paul. Greetings. Thank you for sharing everything that set right in this track per your ears. Especially the mention of the guitar nuances, which when captured just right, it's next level for any mix. As always, your support is encouraging and your musical perspective respected highly. The fave you gave is received humbly. Peace.

Whats going on Mark, It was just plain old time to get a listen in, not knowing I would have to call 911 to report that I've suffered a blown head and ears gasket. LOL. Out of all tracks you have, I had to stop here and get a light weight guitar spanking. I've been in the studio recording some HOT riffs. Will hit you up for a verbal when I get done with these tracks. It's time brother. PEACE. T576 OUT.

T576! The Stop and check in is always good. So me like you...... BUSY in the studio! Guitar spanking? Just where do you think the inspiration comes from? That's U BRAH! You make every note count! When your comment on this one came through, I was just uploading an early draft of my new one. It's all about that POCKET! Check it out and let me know how it sounds. I'll be on stand by for what you release. I appreciate your comments on my track. Peace

I can always leave it to you to talk to my soul with your music. The lovely sounds work for a rainy day at home but at the same time makes me want to put on a jiving suit and go down to the disco dance hall. Wonderful as usual, adding to favs.

kingmt77 replied 19th Mar 2023 - 3 years ago
midiman007. Thanks for stopping by and the positive reaction. I wrote the midi for the drums, organ, and synths, and played them through the following VST's Superior Drummer 3, Air Music Technology's B3 Organ, and Oberheim's OB-X Pro synth. The rest I used .wav loops that I timed and tuned to fit the track. Peace.

Hola Mark,

What a track, I absolutely love! that sax as you know one of my fav instruments but honestly all of the instruments in this little piece of jazzy heaven are definitely in their rightful place & just singing to me, such a zealous! and wonderfully crafted track. I particularly like the arrangement of the instruments through out also. This is one of the most grooviest, silky smooottthhhh! jazz ensembles ever & you certainly hit a home run!!! with this one my friend. A masterpiece indeed. Quality all the way, totally enjoyed every minute of listening time wow! NICEEE work here indeed! Bravo! OUTSTANDING!!! :)

Angelus:) Greetings. Wonderful always for when you grace the place with your presence. Thanks for the stop, listen, fave, and sharing your feelings on my latest jazz habits lol. Now the version you listened to is slightly different than the one posted now. I like the higher frequencies dynamics in the current one. For example, the cymbals, saxes etc. Enough of that shop talk! Your encouragement is always without fail.....OVER THE TOP MY FRIEND. We will catch each other on the flip! Stay blessed and be safe.

You know, one of my most favorite 70's funk bands is RUFUS (the group that brought us Chaka Khan). They produced some amazing instrumentals on some of their albums, and this track definitely takes me back. You have a very keen sense of story telling through music, in my opinion. Your outtro here is brilliant. But, there is a "but" coming...LOL. You sort of lost me from 3:14 to around 3:47. That section seems (to my ear) out of place and a bit disconnected. I don't think it moves the "story" forward. Luckily, though, you brought me right back to the groove, and as I mentioned earlier, the outdo does not disappoint. Overall, how can I not say job well done? The track is a "Killer" in every good sense of the word!

Hey Mark, hope every thing is going well for you. Just want to say, I agree with you on bringer's reply on this one. With out textures there is no element of surprise in a song. I consider song form and textures one in the same. I try to keep my distance between predictable moves in Jazz productions, and who's going to listen to a track that they know what's going to happen from minute to minute. The door to perfection is eternally open to musicians, which is why we are able to endlessly create. You proved this on this track. PEACE. T576 OUT.

Greetings and Happy New Year to you, my friend. Gratitude for sharing your impressions on my updated track. And right, you are about the guitar. Discipline brought that fire correctly. I'm glad you found everything in its proper place and you absolutely enjoyed your listen. NOW YOUR TURN! YUP! You and I need to have a convo about "LAY BY ME". So you have the audacity to walk in with your velvety vocals on top of a lo-fi and detuned piano melody. That's bossed up all the way. What a vibe. Wonderful backing track that provided an excellent foundation for your vocals. You know you sholl can sang [sic]:) Excellent Production.

The drums are killer in this, really a wall of sound with just the drums. The vocals and piano mesh well with them. Then the guitar comes in and it's a great vibe. Over all the balancing and arrangement of this sounds like some Persona 5 level quality. Quite a journey of a composition you got over all. The panning work on the rhodes. The amp guitar that comes in later followed by the rythmic rhodes pattern. It's some great sauce.

Then the trumpet, OMG. it's so fire.

This is def one of the highest level of compositions I've come across on this site. Great use of a wide variety of synths and actual instruments, it must have been a lot of work to balance everything together naturally. Brilliant overall nothing about this mix is bad TBH.

This is a certified BANGER.

I'm liking the 8 bit foley. Nice guitar solo (and keys later), very fitting. It does feel a bit sparse at times (in the first 2 or 3 min), like you are not finished, but you gotta be careful, the cost of perfection is infinite.

I think BaoBou was my first collaborator...

Faved, keep it up.
kingmt77
kingmt77 replied 7th Sep 2022 - 3 years ago
bringer, thanks for stopping by and sharing your observations and fave. BaoBou's solo was the missing link, and it's good you enjoyed his work. Now, what you call "sparse" I call "texture". Every textured moment was intentional and the setup for the next soloist. We have to remember that "less is more" is a strategy, especially in funk. My belief is that we are never really finished at this phase of what we are doing musically. Our ability to hear and express what we do musically should increase daily and only over time we get closer to perfection. Why? We all have our own definition of what true perfection is really all about. TTYL

Hey Mark! Just back from a long trip, so please excuse my recent absence. Knew I needed to swing by and see what you've been up to. As always, the funky man with the funky music had something new.

Most folks have been remarking on the composition so I'll just mention that the mix is absolutely pristine! As always, every little element is SO well balanced with every other. The drums are especially punchy and forward while never being overwhelming. Oh and I just lived for that slippy/slidey synth solo around 4:20.

Hope all is well with you and yours!
