hello my imaginary friend
really liking some of those sounds. i was a bit sad that it ended just as i was about to get into it.
i (or -i) would like to make a longer arrangement of this someday if that's ok with you.
cheers mate
I like the username :) it's I, complex and imaginary all at the same time!
Good start of the track, and nice and chill. I'll be interested to see if you take it further!
Try leveling all your tracks between -12 and -6 db. Then level the master to maybe between -3 and 0 (before "mastering"). If you are using a separate track for effects (side-chaining), maybe turn that down all the way, level the primary tracks (the "music") and then slowly add it back to taste.
I don't know if you are using loops or plugins. If loops you may want to use EQ and/or compression, among other things, to normalize the volume. Writing automation in the track to control volume also helps. It is difficult to tell how much of the volume swells is creative choice vs mixing issues. You can see it in the shape of the wav, there is a big space between the loudest and quietest parts.
Also, try listening to your mix in a car as well as headphones. The car will help you with the bass. The headphone will help you find harsh tones to remove via EQ -poor folk's studio :)
Lastly, your user name is awesome even if it is imaginary, let me know if this helps.
I've listened to this now with earphones and I notice that the levels of the effects are okay, it's just the synths are muddy, and in my own opinion the snare is a bit loud maybe lower it a db.
Drops is lacking low end bass, and other elements in the drop ruining the mix, you can fix that by lowering the effects so that the drop would stand out more but to be honest the overall song is good just work a bit with the mix.
im happy this popped up on the featured tracks list!!! ooh i love it
the happy jams the lovely sounds you used. i cant even describe that high pitch ringing sound you used
love it all man such a classic tune

super brilliant song...for me it's more spring in it, than autumn but it's only my taste, perhaps...moody, positive song...technical advices up there from Joe...
There's a lot of wit in the music, which I love. You have to listen closely because the sounds are all artfully crafted and curated and orchestrated to be just right. I like the stoppy-starty-ness of it. Probably my favorite part was the bassy part that starts a little after the first minute, and I kinda wished it woulda come back again. It's a short piece and it would not sadden me in the slightest if it were longer.
Thanks for listening! I was kind of tempted to use that bassy part thingy, but because I try to keep my music on the shorter side, I opted not to. Perhaps it was a little bit to short though in retrospect.
Are those MusicRadar samples? If so, you used them better than I did. 0:57 - 1:26 is incredibly cool. Great use of differing sounds. Personally, I'd like to hear more done with it.
Hey! Thanks for listening! Yes, that is exactly the sample pack that I used. I try to keep my music on the shorter side to prevent any unnecessary repetition, and to keep things fresh
I love how varied this album is. I'm not usually a big fan of chiptune or 8bit music, but this is very well done. I like how you incorporated sounds that weren't chiptuned or bitcrushed. I've made a song similar in style to this one, but this is well beyond what I could make. I like the constant building structure as well.
awesome !!!!!! love your work man one of the best tracks off your lil album you released
cool breaks very interesting sounds
great work as always, you got my support

Here are two videos that may help (they helped me) and would be a good place to start.
