Man this synth is F#$*ing Amazing!!
remind me of 80's synths melodies and their modern feeling

Thanks so very much! I like the way it sounds also, but I'm nor sure it fits the mode of classical trance. I used a bunch of samples from Primeloops.com I created a few tracks using Vsti. I used Acid Screenblast 4.0 to mix this song. I added some limiting to the Master using Magix Audio Studio. I wish all those synth sound were my own original sounds.

Hey, man. Musically, I like the melody/harmony and, even though it's really simple, I like the bass line. I think, for when you've got all the sounds going at once during the choruses, it might be a good idea to get rid of most or all of the reverb on the ascending arpeggio sound.
That background sound you got going on is good, but far too loud. It really distracts from what's happening. I think it could get louder for a couple bars and be a build-up element.
I'm not a huge fan of the composition of the track as a whole. For being a dance track, it needs some more defined build-up and break down. Just my 2 cents. Thanks for letting me listen!

Thanks, I appreciate what seems to be a sincere critique. I'm not the most experienced, so I'm always will to listen to what others have to say. I'll try to spend some time reworking this track and try to implement your advise. Thanks so very much for taking the time.

Yeah nice job. Thanks for listening to my tracks. This isn't what I was expecting but it still's good.

You're welcome. I like to surprise people with my music. I know you might not consider this a regular style of trance or trance at all. I guess I never really tried to make it sound like trance, structure wise. So maybe it's a new style of trance. Well, thanks for giving it a listen to. Thanks for your review.

There are some parts where a good drum roll would spice this up quite nicely. Other than that, this is a great sounding piece.

Thank you John. I agree that a snare fill would add some spice. Thanks for your review.

Hey man I like this track! Its a bit slow for me but I like the piano and the pads. At 4:20 the peace in the song started completing itself I really like the part after this :) It felt as if I was getting emptier but more at ease. Great track.

great track. I really like ambient music. I use a MD1700 keyboard so Im sure urs is bout the same. This is just beautiful how for the first part its kinda like u r just existing, then its like something good comes along and ur a whole again. Thx for this

toddj replied Unknown
Thanks, Becca. That's got to be one of my favorite styles of music. I sure miss that keyboard, it was a very useful tool. I am glad to be able to share this song with you.

This is really good. I like the buildup and I especially like the instrument that sounds like a tubed harmonica(?), I don't know what the hell it is but maybe you can put that in the middle of the track to support the beat.
toddj
toddj replied Unknown
Thanks for the review Groggy. I wish I had the original source files for this song, but they were wiped-out several years ago. I don't know if I could even find the sample that I used that sounded like a tubed harmonica. I've learned that it is ever so important to back things up.

Nice intense sci-fi chase music (as apposed to being stalked by a pickup truck with a gun rack and blaring banjo music). It is simple in structure but affective. We all got the idea, "Drive Fast!"

I thought that title fit with this tune. I like the Sci-fi idea. Thanks for the review.

This takes me back to hours waisted (or not) in front of the tv stretching loops with the ps2 controller. Listening again, this is kind of a cool track. Definately nastalgic. Sounds good considering it's humble origins.

on In Ethereal Space by toddj
I absolutely loved that first minute and a half. Took me on a journey, but I'm not sure I'd call it "heavenly". There's quite a switch around the 3 minute mark. I'm guessing this is the heavenly part, because it's a lot brighter and less eerie. To be honest, the change up doesn't work for me. It's well composed, but sounds like a completely different song.

So to break this down: minute 0 - 2:52 is brilliant. Eerie, trippy and psychedelic. Minute 2:52 - 6, and this is just personal taste, I didn't like all that much. A bit too trancey and Enigma'ish for me, especially after the otherwordly first 3 minutes. But again, this is just a subjective opinion. Minute 6 - 8 = Great again.
toddj
toddj replied Unknown
Thanks SGN for your perspective. I guess I wasn't going for the conventional song structure on this track. It was more of a experimental approach that I was going for.

on Mind If I Go Along by toddj
I knew I'd like this right from the first bar. That bass - wow. Seriously, wow. Love the little fx sounds that you've used throughout, along with that synth that sort of sounds like some insect singing. This sort of reminds me of Massive Attack circa "Mezzanine", only more dub influenced. And I love that album. Honestly, I wish I'd made this track. I've now run out of compliments so I'm going to stop now. Keep up the good work.
toddj
toddj replied Unknown
Thanks, Nystagmus Massive Attack Is one of my favorites. I guess there might have been some inspiration from listening to "Mezzanine." It might have been purely subconscious, the influence. I thank you for the compliment.

Todd - I just saw one of your tracks of the featured list and said "Yes! He's back!" I'm a bit disappointed that you haven't posted anything new, but am delighted that this track somehow slipped by me.

This is awesome. Several of us have been discussing Ambient music in a thread called "ambient logbook," and I'm going to have to link this song there as an example. http://https://www.looperman.com/forum/thread/94559

Swing in if you get a chance, as after listening to this one, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the genre.

Added to faves. Welcome back my man!
