Hello there SEROKSATY,
Thanks for your review of my latest Blues song. I haven't played any of yours yet and will do so today, and give you a review back for sure.
The 1st. Blues song I made you might enjoy as well....altho it is a real slow Delta Blues type of song, all done with slide.

Hi there Mouko,
Thanks a lot for your review! It means a lot coming from a guy who don't particulary like Blues music. I think 'Blues' can take many different forms and different rhythm/styles.

The other Blues song I made was real slow and all acoustic slide, then the second part was a lot different...almost rock.
Thanks again...I'll take a listen to some of your tunes as well and comment.

I hear some Boston in it, not totally but some(More Than a Feeling). That's might be because they are one of my favorites. The rest blends in a unique sound to perfection. Like it a lot.
I just read that Beatles story on your profile page, wow! I'm 60 so it means something to me, good old days. Can't wait for your next tract.

Hello Art,
Thanks for your review. I love that kind of rock guitar sound myself. It wasn't meant to copy anyone, but with so many 1,000's of songs out there, you can't help sounding a little like someone elses song.
Yeah, the Beatles playing/meeting was totally a suprise. But, again they weren't even famous yet. At least not in France.
My next song is a 2 part Blues song. I have it almost finished, but am working a lot of overtime, so it has to wait.
Thanks again for your review.

Amazing. Didn't think about it but Bilbozo's right kind of does have that all along the watch tower sound to it. Great job working with loops.

Thanks Blair. I had forgotten what 'all along the watchtower' even sounded like when I was making it......so it wasn't an influence at the time I made the song.

Randall822 replied Unknown
Hello there Art,
Thanks for the review. I certainly appreciate it.
Glad you like both parts. Since the individual songs were so short, I felt that I needed to do something...so I made the tune into 2 songs with totally different sytles. Sometimes your mind goes blank after starting a song. :-)

In my next Blues song, I have put in a Fender Strat again, doing some cool harmonics. Again it will be a 2 part song only because I couldn't get the 1st part out of my head and it is short.

Features mostly Dobro sound/slide as lead.
I'll check some of your songs here and give a review.

Howdy blairrock957..!
I appreciate your review of the country song. Yeah...I am kinda old, but healthy and will keep playing as long as my mind stays together! (ha)

I just bought a newer Dobro, so hopefully I can add more of that type sound to my songs, and keep up the quality I want.
Some of the faster guitar playing parts I can't do well, so I use sample/loop disk to help out....and often I play a part real slow when I am learning it, and then record it and then set the tempo to normal so ALL the parts fit together.

Sometimes I make up my own drum sets or use drums sets from Betamonkeymusic.com.
I have several big programs that have many drums sets in them, so I pick and choose which program I want to use...or...I make them up on my Korg Karma Keyboard unit if I can't find exactly what I want and don't want to go searching.
Thanks again for your review,

Hi there blairrock957,
Thanks so much for reviewing my tracks. I appreciate the nice comments. I agree the songs are a little short. However, It is hard making a instrumental unless you add in a lot of different instruments or parts....as a song will get boring pretty fast.
However, I'll try and make my next songs a little longer. :-)
I am just getting back into making music again after nearly over 20 year of hanging it up....because of rotating shiftwork.
Thanks again for the review.

Thank god for featured tracks my man! this was faved in 16 seconds the fasted fav yet! I have to throw some blues harp into this in the studio! Dude I swear I have been so busy I have lost touch with the nucleous of the heart of music itself (the blues)
man this has my heart pounding, ok maybe it's the captain and cokes but this was the shit! begging for a collab, a bluesy number like this to throw some harp into would be soooooo cool!

Hi Johnny,
Thanks for the nice review. So it took 16 seconds to put this song in as a Fav eh? hee hee
Feel free to download it and add to it with a Harmonica or whatever.
The problem on this site is, a lot of songs and loops get uploaded everyday, and if you don't sign onto here only once or twice a week as I do, a person is likely to miss anothers good tune or loop unless you go way back in time.

So far I have only posted 3 songs on here and will have another Blues one up in a week or so. Just trying to add more Dobro/slide parts.

Takes me awhile to do a song as I pay attention to all the little details before I release a song. (volume, effects, mix, etc). If I am sending out a song with my name on it, I hope most people will like it because of the songs content, originality, and mix.

With todays amazing software out there available and quality loops, etc., there is no reason to put out a 'bad song'.

Perhaps we could do a collab on something in the near future if you'd like.

This brought back memories. I grew up around country/gospel/folk music. Usually played by a pickup jug band. Us kids got to start with the jugs, washboards, kazoos, comb & waxpaper and the jaw harps. I didn't progress past the jaw harp. Wish now, I'da paid more attention. I like, keep'em comin. Moke.

If that was an example of what you can do with just loops, I can't wait till you play for us. You're right about the lack of dobro, mandolin, etc. Are you considering making some loops of the instruments you play, for us the instrumentally challenged? Please do. Welcome aboard the looperman express. Moke

Anyways, thanks for listening to it and your nice comments.
I may make some loops, just have to look into it more.
Sounds like from what I read, you can't make a very long loop at all. Just a few seconds? Some of mine would be maybe 10-15 seconds long.....like maybe 4 bars.
Thanks again,

Hi Randy,
I promised to review your song and also delete my wrong review.
I think this song is great. Both parts have that original blues touch that many so called bluesplayers don't have. This could be made in the Delta. I also like the choice of instruments. If you like I invite you to slide on one of my songs. It would be great if someone from the States and me from Holland could do something together. What do you think?

This song is OK. A good genre exercise but my least favorite of the three you have. It sounds good though. Just doesn't have enough elements or subtleties for my taste. But then, that is only my opinion and does not speak to the actual "quality" of the piece. Am I hearing some clipping on the acoustic guitars? Just wondering. I think this would work as a background piece for say a surfing show or some sports highlights. That is not a put down by the way. I still think you're the man bud. Peace and love, Six
Randall822
Randall822 replied Unknown
Hello there Six...
Hey, thanks for your valuable comments! That's how I learn to get better. The rock song, I have to agree with you on. Nice piano part, but little else except a lot chord playing, and not much lead guitar to shine through.

As for the acoustic guitar sound, it isn't really distorted on its own, as I just listened to it on the track by itself. What is happening is, the distortion from the electric guitar is overriding to make it sound like the acoustic is distorting as well.
I liked the sound of them 2 playing together, but was no way to get that distortion sound out unless I made the acoustic softer and in the background. Anyways, I'll listen more closely on my next song and try and get things separated more. Thanks again!

Hi ya Six.....
Thanks for the review. Basically I get the sound in my head and then search for a drum set that will match it. If I can't find one, then I make up my own drums. A cool place to get live acoustic sounding drums is at: Betamonkeymusic.com. They also have free samples to download...including heavy double bass (kick) drums kits for rock music.
My next song will be partly a more familiar 12 bar Blues shuffle type beat.
Thanks again,

Hello there Slap!!!!
Thank you for reviewing my song. I appreciate it very much....as if a majority of people didn't like it, or the sound, then I'd obviously need to change something.
Getting it to sound good is my main goal after getting the tracks laid down. It's wonderful to have all the tools they have these days available so you can do a song justice.

I am not that good at slide really, but I try. Just go real slow and do a half dozen notes at a time until you have it down so it feels natural.

Then go another 6 notes or so. Once you can get a half a dozen notes down good, record them on a track, and then keep adding to it and edit as you need.
Pretty soon, you'll have a whole tune done!
I mean this song took me a whole month to do that way.
Good luck with your playing and learning,
Randy

Hello REI.
Thanks for reviewing my latest song! Hopefully I'll get better doing songs on the computer as most people seem to be doing it that way these days.
A lot of editing of commercial songs is all done on computers.
As far as timing, yeah, my earlier songs of 5-6 years ago, I had timing issues. I started using a click track, or metronone, and that straightened it all out for me.

Hi Profita. Thanks for reviewing my latest song. I used to play in a country-rock band about 25 years ago. I started working shift work so couldn't play in a band anymore. So I gave music up.
But now I have decided to get back into it. So stay tuned. Not sure you'll like all the types of music I'll try, but I'll do another Blues tune of a different style, down the road.

Let me start by saying you did a really good job on this the rythem blend was excellent.I wish I had the ability to play an instrament I myself would be able to do much more.Im 42 myself and wanted to do this (make music for years)thats why I have done so may. This site will be hard for you to compose rock country and blues because the beat lines offered are 120 beats per min and above. My girlfriend Loves country Im trying to do a song but am having a real hard time at it most beats I have are centered around a keyboard.(synth) I would really like to hear some Banjo Im sure if you develop a track you will get lots of feed back violins and banjos are almost non exsisting here nice job on your tune keep it up and most of all Take care.....Rockingchair
Randall822
Randall822 replied Unknown
Thanks so much for the review 'Rockinchair'. At my age, I am about to need a real one Ha-ha.
I've got a collection of quality loops disk and I can produce many more songs of any type. It is helpful that I can play 5 different instruments as I know exactly what they sound like.
In fact I have all the instruments here in my house, except for the 'Dobro' which I sold many years ago. It was a 1932 National with a square neck.
I don't play my real instruments as much as I'd like because of my shift work type of job......which also cuts out any live band playing.
So I turned to the computer to help me out and make songs. With all the great equipment these days, anyone can make music without ever having to play a real instrument.

I realize there are a number of other web sites that I can post my music on as well, but I started here and will stick around awhile. I am no spring chicken tho!!! :-)

I will make more varieties of music, and country and older rock is where my roots start from. So there will be more songs with Banjo, Fiddle and Pedal Steel coming.
The Blues song(s) I am finishing up will be quite unique I think.....even tho the one is only 78bpm.
Thanks again for writing and your helpful comments!

Thanks Planetjassbass for the nice comments. I love upbeat country style music, as I grew up with country music all around me since I can remember. I recall my mother taking me to square dances when I was maybe 3-4 years old, as a babysitter wasn't always readily available, and just sitting there listening to it all.
Of course, that was old time country. Still it had a big influence on me going forward. In the next few days, I hope to get more of a chance to listen to many of the artist here, including your songs, and give feedback. :-)
I'll make more country music. Working on a Blues song now. Thanks again...

Hi there Junfrey!
Thanks for your nice comments about my Alternative rock song. I usually get 'complaints' that I should have vocals in all my songs, but I am not a vocalist, and therefore, I do make an effort to make my songs more 'interesting' as instrumentals.
I grew up in the 60's era, learning 'The Ventures' many instrumental songs as I was learning guitar back then.
I suppose if I did Rap, or Hip Hop type songs, I could just talk my way through a song.

I will be getting around to listening to your songs and the many other artist on here and will leave comments.

I forgot to mention in my profile that I am almost 64 years old...but I still love rock music and always will. So, I'll make some more songs of that type and other types as well.
