That bass is lovely, The pads are superb and the gated pattern is great. I really like the chord progression, it's very chilled out but funky too. The drums carry the song very well and there don't seem to be any problems with the mix.
Great work,
Helix
LOve the bass sound dude! Pretty housey intro too, but slips nicely into a trance feel as it progresses. Like the feel when the bass n kikk come back in with the lead synth. I would try some effects on that initial lead tho...have you camelspace? NO ..in fact a trance gate on it would be awsome.....Great track overall matey!!
One hates other one loves lol. Yea my music is always a mixture of house trance and electro i think. And no i don't have camelspace, but i can sort it out with in an other way. Will try, Thanks :)
i loved this track, really defines the meaning of trance! i think it should have a light, airy synth line like you have, and a beat which pulls you in. A sweet track and really well done, keep it up!
Nice atmosphere you've created man, cool bass too ;)
I see you experimenting more and more with ambient music, great work!!!
Also a great Idea to merge different styles...
More Housey then the other I just listened to. Lovin the Tabla breakdown ya threw in there. This one's got me shakin my tail feather. And I agree with Monkey-avatar... Very tribal sounding. Cool stuff mate. Later on!
Of Lemon Merange after a good meal. This track is chalked full of sweetness. And there's this one synth sequence you got goin on (kind of in the background at first and then it shifts it's way into the foreground). The (main) drums on this are classic. Kinda like Michael Jackson meets Deep Dish. The bass is kinda classic too, but with your own style married to 'em. And the levels, oy vey, lemme tell you. The least interesting part of the whole process (but necessary and blah blah, haha). Cool new comp mate. Later on!
(edit)
I was just commenting on how they can be a tricky little pain in the A** when it comes to makin a sweet track. The thing that I've tried doing is playing the mix/project that I'm working on with the volume all the way up. Then I play a song from iTunes or Windows Media player or whatever to see if I can't get the two things to sound about the same (clipping, distortion, etc). The latest track I added went through 4 revisions (the original and 3 remaster tweeks) before I got it exactly where I wanted it to sound. I just thought it was funny readin that after spending all of that time on trying to perfect the levels. Seeing that I'm not alone was nice.
Playing it again at full volume it sounds as if there's a good amount of clipping going on. Which suggest that all you gotta do is slightly drop everything down a couple of notches, volume-wise. Like neg 2 or 3 for the synths and basses and like neg 1 (maybe 2) for the drums. Try loading the current mp3 for this and check out the way the waveform on this looks (namely the peaks). Hopefully that helped. Later on!
Hey, thx for the review. I was wonderin what you think about the levels exactly? Ah damn I thought it was temporary CPU thing, i think its not clipping just bad render or that troublesome bass. I will have to check it now..Thx
Hey, thx. I dunno about it being chilling yet, it has these upbeat drums, but kinda ambient melodies make it smooth. So i just called it chill out..Btw it has a lil string patch on the second part..but i wouldn't call that a pad
I find you're getting better and better, there's a great feeling with this track. Nice "getting ready" music lol
other than that a nice track, something i'd use to possibly put me to sleep (a good thing lol)
Layer 'em. Yeah, I'm thinkin that if ya wanted to make 'em beefier- all you'd need to do on the Bass is add a couple of copied loops besides 'em and change their volume level and frequency (lower volume if lowered freq, etc). Coz I think they're fine as is with their sequence.
I've never seen the anime you mentioned as being the inspiration, but do kinda see how it has that epic legacy sorta feel to it. Kinda like Escaflowne mixed with the Chrono series for Playstation. The intro FX and synth kinda remind me of being in an Elevator as it started to move. Another cool tune mate. Lates!
PS. almost forgot,
mixing of the other
to begin tonight.
This song is kinda weird. I don't feel confident with this one, It's like everything sounds nice alone but they don't stand together. I feel sorry for such good parts to be used like that, anyway cant go back and remake it..You gotta watch this one if you like animes :)
I found the sister of Beautiful Number. This one takes us the age of Monet, away from his canvas in the field, and into what he was painting. Kind of akin to the story Alice in Wonderland. He's become curious about his subject matter and starts to trek into the forest. Light pierces through to the floor in pockets and reflects up to cast a muddy mix of dilluted shadow. Creatures sound off their warning cry as he approaches and grow silent. All except the lofty birds who are safely out of his reach up in the canopy. It grows darker as he walks further into the forest. Until, he comes across an opening that makes way to a ravine that's broken by an old stream at the bottom. The same streat that released to the lake where he had been painting earlier. And so, the slow and careful march down begins. Lates mate!
That gated lead, is very cool, very retro but I could also see it in a modern trance song. I love when the pitch bending goes crazy and the little drop is brilliant.
I really enjoyed listening.
Woop, woop. Umm, I think that's how it's spelled (either that or I just gave the mating call of the dork muppets, ?, hahaha). Anyways, I hardly use Fl. Well, to date, atleast. So I really love hearing stuff like this, because right now I'm discecting every single bit of this.
Very unusual arrangment, but as ya said above. In that case, you made 'em fit together decently (with or without hammer, haha). You've brought a new definition to 'Bangin out a tune'. I'm gonna haveta say that my fav part of this is the alarms at the beginning and the drum build when they were still playin. The two different basses ya used make it seem more like a mix session then a sequence lay-out. Craziness man. Later on!
Ya it's a bit strange i wanted it to be like a sound demonstration not mash-up..So i just brought stuff in and out swiftly. I like my basses here except for the throat-cleaning-sound-alike lol
The Honking style of the main bass. The synths leave so much open for a DJ who'd be mixing this into their set. Then the second round of synths starts and brushes everything else to the side. You used one of my favorite drums patterns on this BTW- the Boom-tis-tah-tis. Thanks for sharing mate. Later on!
The Ericsson a cell phone? I'm not that tech-savy these days so I'm just throwin out what I believe it is. Anyways, if it is this is pretty bangin.
And the key leads of the synth kinda remind me of Eiffel 65's style on some of their songs. Then the second set of leads comes on and it starts sounding like... Umm... I dunno who, but stuff similar to what's heard on those Ibiza compilation albums. You did so much to this it hardly even sounds like it's Midi. Top-notch productions mate, top-notch. Later on!
The drums and synth sequence ya used (fading in about 0:25) are definately HH. The intro synth is a bit different, but it's nice because it gives this track a different flavor. So far I'm thinkin that this track is more Trip-hop than Hip-hop, but who cares.
Oh, and if you haven't check out that genre before I highly recommend it, because I think you'll really be fascinated by it. You are well on your way to creating HH stuff mate. Lates!
I LOVE the PERCS on this! They lifted above the rest while I was at the other side of the House and I hadta pause while I was refilling my Cat's water bowl to see what I was hearing. The bass is pretty cool too. Sounds like there are 2 or 3 changes (?). From the half that I've really heard. I'll replay, hold 1...
The pads & synths at the beginning take me back and are showing me ornate fountains for some reason or another. Ofcourse, you've gotten to see a buncha cool historic stuff coming from your region (slightly envious here). I also like the reverse crash (?) ya used a little before the 2 minute mark. Another cool composition. Thanks for sharing mate!
Hey thx, I like your reviews lol
The point is that i had no intention of making smth particular. It was like I will make a song with a smooth synth. Pianos, ok. Melodies melodies . Let's go nuts reverse the notes. naah change synth. ooo i got it. LOL
Yea I saw some historic stuff but I can swear that i didnt get influenced by em. haha
cya
More like it... 5:33's a perfect length for such a head bobber.
Just heard something that made me stop the song at try to isolate it's position. The key lead loop starting at 1:52 sounds like there's a note that's slightly off (it's position or key). Just thought I'd letcha know. The rest sounds great. I took a break from the review and am currently at the part where it's mostly just the bass and drums. Very nice and I'm thinkin is a perfect segay into another track for larger mixes. Swinging back around for another listen the intro drums kinda remind me of Setting Sun by the Chem Bros (scratches head- maybe it's the clapnash snare hit {?} that ya used compared to their kick drum). It was kinda the first thing I thought (back to the clip in the music video for it with the chick in face paint dancing to match that beat). I'm diggin the off-on part of the sound on the bass loops. Thanks for sharing. Lates!
You went back to my first "real" songs. This and Echoes...I really like the production of em except for the quality. Perhaps they are the roots of my work and not influenced or trying to suit someone..I know that the synth is off but i could never guess that by just listening i'm kinda tone deaf..I don't know about the sample tho..I just found it somewhere..Thanks a lot. I'm extra happy because because you liked my early work. :)
Mikey likes it, haha. Sorry, but I do seriously dig what I hear so far. Tell ya what, I'm just gonna kick back and let this one play while I chill & smoke this Clove. Be back for the second play...
It's too bad we don't have Progressive House as a genre choice on here coz that's what this sounds like to me. Anyways, when it cut off I replayed it and looked at the time- 2:55? That's my only gripe with this is that I was really wanting it to be longer. Dang, my natty high is fading, waaaaaah.
Haha, but seriously, do you think you could stretch this out? Shoot I dunno, maybe to like 10 minutes? Just kidding, I think people my scream overkill or somethin like that if it was, but I'd love it if this was, say, between 4-6 minutes. Ok now for specifics...
Third play now- I love the way the primary Leads of the melody are layered (mixed with the strings and the keys). Though I'm thinkin fading into the sting layer would add more smoothness. The drums are nice and minimum, but do the trick (and I love the way the brush snares or hats {?} play, kinda like a side-to-side shuffle thing). The bass is classic and mellow (though maybe at certain parts they can be beefed up to sound heavier/more pronounced, ?). Either way I'm lovin this and will def sav & fav. Later on!
Hey, Glad you dig. It's bordering with prog house and breakbeat i think. Yea the cut off is because of the usage of a loop. These hats are totally experimental..It was like making some trancy arp fit into house with a saw sinewave with sidechains and stuff. Then i said let's try other waves and white noise! I was like "WTF?" convert to loop and time stretch it A LOT. That cool thing appeared. You are great at hearing little details. I thought no1 would notice that bass and hats. The bass in my opinion has it's hardness too it's just a bit laid back. Yes we can go for a collab. Mail me
relaxing, peaceful, and a full composure...and the loop isn't even annoying, which is awesome :D
Great job, but try to make the ending a bit less cutoff, but more fadded out with a reverb or continue playing just fad the msuic out slowly :)
God Bless
Steve
Hey, I'm glad you liked it :)
About the cutoff i agree. It's just the loop so i can't use reeverb which my idea then left it like that maybe i'll go with some fast fade don't wanna overdo it. Again thanks :)
