I'm liking what i'm hearing here. The intro was great and the main riff is blinding. The mix quality is all on point and you've got some really good ideas going on.
I always seem to be impressed with the stuff you put together. What software are you using?
Definitely a fav and a download.

Very nice track here man! I really like the wobbles and the drop you made. Thanks for leading me to this awesome track. Impressive stuff, keep up the good work!
I love the combination of the synths and sampled instruments. I'm a huge fan of strings and other orchestral instruments being incorporated into dubstep tracks. Do you have Native Instruments Kontakt? If not I highly suggest you get it because it will help with your style and you'll have a whole bunch of fun with it. Overall, great track man.
Hey Bion. Thanks for the great comment . Unfortunately right now I do not posses kontakt. I would love to have kontakt the sounds are so crisp and ere are so many sample libraries.
Very nice chilled type of trance, good beat and bass, very nice synths used in the mix, clarity and mix sounds great, guessing only thing I would add if I was doing this piece, would be to add strings or pad in the background, just so you get them coming through without over powering anything else in the mix, just to help convey more emotion also would help a little with the flow of the piece, minor thing really, thoroughly enjoy listening to this one...Fav...Peace n Respect...Mosaic...
This is a nice little piece. It has a classic trance feel to it. In my opinion, it could use some pads in the background to help, not only carry the melodies, but to really help build the emotions you're trying to convey. I really like the way you incorporated the orchestral effects in a few of your dubstep tracks. Using the same concept here would make this a much larger and more powerful piece. Not necessarily with the orchestal, but that soft, sustained element behind the gated arps. The melody is kind of a dreamy, almost whimsical one. Maybe adding a few sweeps in some strategic places would also help give it some dynamics.
This time I tried to go for a full on orthadox song which is unlike my usual orchestra style .i think I may just stick to orestra sounding stuff as this seems to be the most natural for me. Thanks for the advice my friend. Look reword to hearing more of you stuff as we'll.
This is very nice song, cool melodies, smooth transitions, powerful drums... Just everything trance song needs. That lead at 2:08 really fit nice there! I really enjoyed this one, keep 'em coming :)
Well I guess the arpy thingy coming in at 1.18 could use a more consistent volume, also the drums seem to wobble a bit in volume (maybe another sound pushes it in?)
For the drums that would make sidechaining them an easy fix (but I can hear some sidechaining already so not sure if it is that)
For the main synth I guess stereorizing it would do really good and boosting the mid frequencies ;)
That is it for the constructive feedback I think
About the track itself, it has some real potential and I like the progressions you did in there. It really makes up for an interesting song, I hope you keep them coming and maybe up the level with the advice from me and others
If you need help with the mixing/mastering you can pm me at any time :)
Love the main synth line you have running through out the track. Has a really good vibe to it. Sorry cant give any tips on the arr. and mix. This isnt my genre and Im still learning the game myself, lol.
So well done. Great production. It sounded a lot like Evanescence to me, that's a compliment. I'm not a dubstep fan but I dont think I'd call this dubstep.
What occurred to me as I listened, since it reminded me so much of Evanescence, is the section starting at 1:41, then repeated later, could of been made really heavy with short, choppy guitar chords in unison with the music.
Hey Kevin, first let me say thank you for jumping in the competition with both feet. I would have to echo what Orlando and Alex said. Perhaps a bit too much reverb and a focus on the higher end leaves the bottom end a little light for my tastes. Some of the stems in this one had quite a bit of reverb on them (the acoustic guitars), so it is easy to muddy things up with them.
As Orlando stated, it isn't about winning, but about trying something different and seeing what happens. For this to be only your second attempt at mixing and mastering, I would say you did really well. It truly is an artform in itself, and something that all of us struggle with on a daily basis. I think overall you did a good job considering the many challenges this track presented. Well done my friend. I hope all is well.
hi LSD, I do not think that there's really something to improve there. Your version is just different from the SBM one. You're giving only more priority to the piano (which I like) in the first part, to the waves and FX (too bad with the guitars) in the interlude. The last part (and also the very last one) sounds quite spacey and dreamy with a lot of reverb provided from the original samples... But there's far too much reverb added there so you have to simply cut up the recording like this at the end instead of just let the sounds melt away naturally...
hope its useful,
Alex
Excellent track, not a genre I do often, impressive being your first DnB piece, great pads, very nice beat combo's, everything sits and flows very well in the piece, great listen matey...Fav...Peace n Respect...Mosaic...
Hello Kevin...first I have to say it's great you have decided to join the competition and I think all this is not so much about winning or being the best in town, but more about learning and improving mixing and mastering skills through exchanging views, ideas and experiences of fellow Loopermates and at the end of the day it's also about simply having fun.:)
You're asking what you're doing wrong...as a complete amateur myself (you can also call me noob, hehe)I just don't feel competent to tell you whether you're doing something wrong or right...I can only tell what my ears and senses tell me, or how I percieve your take on this task...
I must say the beginning is very promissing...clear and bright sounding piano impresses me, as well as just the right amount of reverb... but the transition to acoustic guitars is frankly quite messy and it's probably the most questionable part on the entire track (at the same time I envy you exactly that part cause I wouldn't know how to do it mysef even if I wanted to...lol)...For the rest of the track I would say there's too much emphasis on higher frequency range on one side and obvious lack of lower range on the other, which is even more evident in the third movement. Despite aforementioned shortcomings I still consider this as a clean mix in it's own way and I can only
congratulate you for making your own contribution to this contest.:)
Thank you for the great reply. To be completely honest with you this is actually the second song that I have actually mixed and mastered so I guess I am on the right track. Thank you for letting me know about the low end lacking. On the tiny monitors that i'm using at my house to master its almost impossible to even hear the bass when i'm mixing, even with volume all the way up on the monitors. I think I lacked because I have realized that when I can hear the bass really nicely on my monitors that means its way to high for almost every other sound system lol. I do the make a master and burn it to a cd and listen to it in the car deal because I really am working with junkie monitors. My aim was to bring out more of the high end of this track because that is where I thought most of the life was in this track. I also think that my transition to the acoustic guitars really does suck I think I added way to much reverb and it kind of mudded up that whole transition. anyway Thank you a lot for the reply man !
I don't know much about dubstep, but I do know a well constructed, well mixed and well mastered song when I hear one. Dubstep is not easy to mix and master, due to the usual focus on dominating bass and huge dynamics. You managed to focus on each element, allow them plenty of room to breathe, and then put them all together in a marvelous cohesive way.
You flat nailed this one. All of the hours you spent on it truly paid off with a terrific result. Outstanding effort. I hope all is well.
