Hi Oli, given the circumstances of its creation, I can't really tell you how long it took me, if you understand...ahem. I didn't do this thing in my usual studio environment, and so I ended up with everything on a single track. That means you can download it and expand the stereo field yourself...I wouldn't have any more options from here either. Feel free to do whatever you want with it.

Yes, I know the story of the song too... Stevie had finished writing the music but no lyrics. Then he apparently presented the recording to Berry Gordy at a Motown party and he gave it to Smokey who then wrote the lyrics. The lyrics fit the music so closely it's a joy, isn't it? I was lucky that everything went so smoothly the day I recorded it... I usually take weeks to do a track... this one was done in two days. Ha.
