Basicaly nothing wrong with this piece...on the contrary..It's pretty good work again, Mark! But yes, mix needs a proper balance and everything should be just fine...so cheer up, my friend.:)

Tumbleweed
Hey Larry...you`ve good a nice poppy "Now: sounding mix going here...I`m biased of course so I particularly like the little acoustic rhythm guitar bits (haha)..the whole thing is really well constructed so kudos to you on the composing...Guess I am another who is not a fan of autotune when its been used to the point that you can hear it...however, you used it as an effect here and thats a different story...I just read an article on autotune where the writer was comparing its current prevalance to that gated reverb drum sound that was the rage for a while in the 80s...but for now its a common part of whats happening in pop music etc...There was one little part at .20 sec in to the mix where I thought that high synth line was a bit distracting...maybe it could be pulled waaay back there...works better where it is in the mix with more compant....Anyway...you`re off to a good start...keep it going...Ed

Hi Ed, thanks for taking the time out to listen, and as usual for your valued comments, which I will be taking notice of. As you rightly say, autotune was used for effect, but probably a bit overdone! So I will be revisiting these areas when I revise the track. Really pleased that you like the composition though, and will keep it going. Thanks again for your time Ed.
Best wishes,
Mark/Larry!

I like some of the auto tune elements, but get rid of them at 1:45 on and keep the mix clean there. Also Maybe a defined chorus somewhere, all in all it has good potential as a song. I agree with the others about the mixing and volumes but i understand this is a rough mix. Look forward to hearing the progress on this one!
Ciao

Hi Steve,
Your comments and those of the others so far are the reason why looperman is so refreshing, I had really stalled with this one and decided to put it up for critique and valued opinions, which I really appreciate. I am very disappointed with the sound quality though...the final take will be better!! thanks for you time and valued comments.
All the very best,
Mark/Larry!

Refreshing pop song, really like the vocals, was fun to listen! :)

Thanks a lot for that, despite the messy bits my ultimate aim was to produce a fun (ish)! pop song! thanks for listening and hopefully you will like the revised version too.

Hey Mark, I like the tune a lot, the vocals, instruments and arrangement is all real good but as mentioned the volumes are a bit off especially on the vocals.
Nothing that a bit of eq adjustment couldn't fix.

Great to hear and thanks for taking the time to listen, I did cock up on the rough mix and should have paid more attempt to the vocal mix.... I will sort though.

on Dont let me go - Larry Wiggles aka Mark Jeffries by larrywiggles1
Hey Larry...

Overall, it's a good song, but in my opinion there are some small mistakes...(for me)...2.12 the short synth is too harsh...the vocs is too low in the whole number...agree with SN, autotune is not my friend, too...
Though,it easily could be a top hit with a little more worh on it...

Danke

Hi Danke, thanks for your very constructive comments, and absolutely accept everything you say, but on the positive side I will address these points and hopefully the balance will then be right. So pleased that you liked in general though.
Many thanks,
Mark/Larry!

I quite like it though, again, you've said nothing about how it was made, who's doing the vocals (it could be you for all I know) whether it's all loops etc

I definitely don't like the autotune on the vocals and would remove all of that (it's used as an effect here, not as a correctional tool). But I'll give a better review once you've given me some idea of what I'm listening to.

1:03 I like the busy change and rapid guitar and maybe also arpeggiated synth.

Thanks SM for some very constructive comments again. Firstly the track was put together with loops and samples from dance 6 with some additions by myself. I know you are not a fan of this, but believe me a lot of work and effort goes into arranging and producing my tracks , although on this occasion I decided to upload earlier than I would normally because I wanted some feedback on which direction to take it, as I had become to close to it. I take on board everything you have said and will endeavour to improve the final take.
A big thank you and best wishes,
Mark/Larry!

Thanks for the answer. So, it's completely composed of loops. That's obviously less impressive than if you'd played and programmed and sonically sculpted it all.

Nevertheless, its an enjoyable piece. Do you only do loop assembly tracks? Any other instrument playing or synth programming?
larrywiggles1
larrywiggles1 replied 28th Jan 2014 - 11 years ago
Initally I started with loop arrangements and remixes, though I take a lot of time and effort with all my tracks produced this way, but I am now programming and producing my own sounds but at this early stage I still have a lot of work to do. Always happy to receive and accept advice and assistance. A big thanks for your time and interest.
Take care,

Lotta love for this one so I'll just add a bit more.

Though, first of all, let's kick off with a complaint:

I have no idea how you made this at all. There's no mention in your description and no mention of anything regarding production in 20 or so replies. I try to give lots of detail in replies (even when it's not asked for, which it generally isn't) in case anyone who comes along later is interested.

You can probably tell I'm wondering how this was put together, what you're playing (if anything) and so on.

But this is cool stuff and all sits very nicely and is pretty busy for 3.5 mins.

1:37 it really takes off and I like the drops before that. Classic groove there. Reminds me a little of Way Out West - wonderful electronic group (check out a track called The Gift). Or perhaps some Banco De Gaia stuff. He likes those sorts of beats.

Though I go in for mega long tracks, I actually like this length - feels right. Busy but always interesting.

Great collection of instruments. I guess that guitar is programmed rather than played. Big pads are fairly lush too.

One suggestion is that around, say, 1 min, you bring a good hat in as I think I'm waiting a bit for the beat to really pick up. It's great when it does but I would have preferred to have got to it just a little sooner.

But, overall, lovely work.

larrywiggles1 replied 28th Jan 2014 - 11 years ago
A really big thank you for your very constructive comments. To clarify, the track was made entirely from loops on Ejay Dance 6,with some slight massaging from me! thanks for picking up on the hat, absolutely right and I should have gone with my instinct, but I have been accused in the past of putting toO much into a track too quickly!. I am pleased you like and enjoyed it and again thank you for your helpful comments.
Best wishes,

funny thing...the music that has stuck in my head the longest (and thats a long time) has tended to be the simple ones that just strike some feeling that says "Save to the hard drive" to the brain...nicely paced for a dancy vibe...yet smooth enough to leave a peaceful feeling...Good stuff Mark...keep doing it.....Ed

Love it, love this vibe you have going Larry.
Yes I have used Dance 6 a lot in my compositions and this year have moved into Magix 18.
But the samples and synths brings back many memories of my early days of composing.

Keep it up. Well done Larry.

Billy.

Hi Billy, thanks for your comments and your time. I have done a lot of work with Magix 2013 Premium and now 2014,and think it is one of the best around, but still enjoy the sounds I can get from Dance 6 (though finished production is more difficult). Will upload some of my Magix work for some constructive comment. Thanks again.

I love the old school type vibe in this!

I think i will put this more in my EDM folder than Electro, but thats just my personal opinion,as i know we dont have a Electronic Dance Music genre choice.!

The main thing is that this is a very nice enjoyable Track.!

Even though there are different elements going on,it all works real well, and i found it just moves along quite nicely

Im from the old school day so love this type of feel.!

good work!

I like the feel of this song very much! It's got momentum, but there are contrasts with that too, so it's deep! The guitar parts are very well created! I'm enjoying the mix as well too, well balanced! My only recommendation is that you normalize the track before turning it into an mp3, maybe not 0 dB, but like -0.5 or something, that way it won't clip when you turn it into an mp3. This would use your headroom more thoroughly, thus competing with other tracks in a more powerful manner. I really like the song though, so keep it up!
