I see you told Pat you used a pre-mixed instrumental, so with that in mind, I think the result here is quite remarkable. The most difficult thing in the world is to add vocals to a completely mixed track. Things are a lot easier if you have all of the instrument stems so you can mix everything at the same time.
So, from a mixing aspect, outstanding effort. Really good vocal work on this. Very nice backing track as well. Keep chasing the dream. I hope all is well.

I really like the outcome but you know, it is always good to have a different feedback from different people. It sounds good through my studio headphones, but I'd suggest taking it to a few different car systems and listening to it there. I've noticed a lot of things in the car that I don't notice in the studio - like too much bass, for instance.

Every thing sounds clear and balanced to me. The only thing that I might adjust is the level of some of the low frequencies (not 100% sure on that though). If you were going for an "old school" hip-hop vibe, then I'd leave every thing as it is. If you were trying to compare it to contemporary club hip-hop songs, then I'd boost the bass a bit.

I don't listen to hip hop all the time or anything, though I do enjoy certain songs or albums on occasion. I think this is sounding pretty good. Vocals are clear, so that helps a lot. The cymbals to me are a bit heavy on the ultra high frequencies, but that's only my ears... I've said that on other people's tracks before and they turn around and listen to one of mine and say basically the same thing to me. I'm guessing there is a certain frequency range that my ears are sensitive to that others' are not. Really other than that I don't have any criticism for you. Pretty enjoyable track!

Pretty cool track man,however I find it strange that you go out of your way in your bio after saying your African that your flows are totally American influenced..it would sound so much better and interesting if you used your own African influences instead,while this is a good track it sounds so much like all the other old school hip hop that's dished up on a regular basis,just about every producer out there wants to sound different and be apart from the pack,I'll bet you could do that just like stepping off the curb and blow people's minds if your own culture shone through and not this rehashed murika style....just my two cents

Yeah, I feel you on this. But you know, where I come from, there's no hiphop legacy. I grew up listening to hiphop from US, so yeah my style is influenced a lot by US cuz I didn't have a local rapper as an example to looks up too. I don't know how to rap as an African. My strength is in story telling and lyrics, unfurtinately African hiphop artists mostly do dance hall music which I can't really associate with. I reckon what you say tho, originality is what people look for when they wanna become famous. Me I just do what I like doing. And this track is a product of what I was feeling at the time I wrote it. You'll be surprised by my next track I guess. Thanks for your input. I was actually expecting this question, you can see how much I was prepared to answer it. Cheers dave. ;)
