This is exactly the type of rhymes i used to do way back.. real Jazzy, real fun to listen too.. Maby harsh to say, but id drop the vocals and go all instrumental with this one. The music itself tells a whole story..
This is no doubt another one of your beutiful pieces.. But, heres a problem. I dont know anything about this magic music maker but it sounds to me that you are using loops, and unfortunetly the loops plays like a ~.3 bpm to slow so when it loops back it sounds like a click between them.. this gives the "magic" away... The tune itself is nothing wrong with and i would say its really well composed, but those clickish sounds between the beats really annoyes me.. Other than those darn clicks, its awesome.. ///Dec
Well, about Magix Music Maker, yes, I use loops. That program is made specially for using loops. Sorry, I have no idea about the "3 bpm" and so on. I don't know anything about music.
Anyway, sorry for the "clicks".
Thanks for listening and comment.
Wow.. Seriously, wow.. I LOVE all the components here from glockenspiels to trombones in the background. The reverb on nearly every instrument makes it ALIVE and asskicking..
and.. ha ha.. when you think youre missing out on a sound the piano comes in.. This is in my opinion a really really beutiful piece. As soon as i get my puter in order, you and i should smash our heads together!
Thanks for your words, but, I have to say this was made on Magix Music Maker. I mean, I didn't compose anything. I just took loops and combined them, no more. Sorry, but it's a waste of time to wait that I compose something of my own. I never studied music. I have ideas in my head, but I don't know how to express them. I've tried to compose on FL, but it's really hard.
Anyway, thanks for listening and comment :)
First off, being a huge fan of glitchness and oldschool commodore or even atari-sounds..
I dont know really what happened from the last tune i reviewed but everything that people said as constructive critisism seemes to have fallen into place.. You incorporated less is more.. you made it simple and interesting..
Something happens just a bit after half of it tho.. dont know if it is intentionall but the beat jumps just a tad.. Nothing big, and you shouldnt listen to me in this case.. Just my way of living "by the bars"..
And this piece actually ends up as one of my very few downloads here on looperman and will def listen to it again...
Thanks for the review and support to me and groupaloopa 2.
I'm glad you like this track. Could you be more specific about where beat "jumps" I don't count beats and I probably should.
THANKS IN ADVANCE
So the review: Ill go with the musical honesty and then the brutal honesty.. (Only my own interpretation of the tune)
Yes, its absolutly well mastered and i love the fact that your using the bass as the main instrument acoompanied by the "indian-influsenced" voice or singing. A slow pace and very easy to listen to, like jj says, it flows by.. and there comes also the problem..
The tune itself it nothing wrong with, more than the fact i dont remember anything specific about it a couple of minutes after. I belive the tune needs a signature of sorts, and not just being "that tune that was easy to listen to" because this tune deserves a lot more than that. One can almost tell when people put some time and effort into their creations and i got the feeling that this might be the case with this one. Therefor this tune needs to be rememebered in more ways than "just" being a bass and pakistan-singing tune witch you forget how it went 5 minutes later..
All and all, a well mastered tune that deserves more to stick out from the general playlists since it deserves to be remembered..
seriously thank you for this honest review decnet, i really appreciate it, it helps me to have a different perspective about my own creativity. In your opinion how can a track like this stick out and still be listenable for general mass?
Hm.. This tune reminds me of some stuff i used to listen to as a kid, and i must say that first of, i LOVE intelligent design when it comes to music.. Suttle sounds, and a specific flow through it all, and the platform and bending of vocals you are using is f****n brilliant in this case..
One thing you can be sure of, is the fact that ill make sure to remember you name here on looperman..
Wow! Thanks for the kind words...makes it all worth while. A little diddy...I made a really dry version of this track and previewed the heck out of it, with definitive changes in mind. Then, this happened. :)
Wow.. Seriously, wow.. your act with the voice.. if i could just have some time with that, im jsut stunned.. really.. i LOVE the work with the vocals.. really really really really really love it.. We could do "wonders" together.. If you got acapellas laying out in the open for grasp, make sure to let me know..
This just rocks exactly the way i want it to.. ///Dec
When a tune starts to sound like something i would have produced myself.. Im impressed.. Lets just say its that narsissistic gene of mine speaking...
I believe in the small things when creating music.. one akward chord, a misplaced snare, and loops that uses the entire spectra of the claviatur or midi-board and not just 3 notes... What im trying to say it that what youve done here is MUSIC to my ears..
I know from personal experience that a voice or acapella can make a tune go from crap to awesome, but in this case, im wondering if the voice is nessesary? You should experiment with the idea of extracting the voice and just let the tune speak for itself since you manage to incorporate feelings with the loops and sounds you are using.. just an idea..
its the same old problem for me,listening to a track after i`m sure its the best it can be and then realising i could change so many things about it, but you cant hold on to them forever :)i really appreciate the effort you put into your comment, it takes time and is important( feedback = awareness and growth imho ) .its easy to stitch pre fabs together and get genre specific white noise. Creating something, even if its not that perfect will always win in my book. It may mean slow output but comments like the ones i have been recieving make it worth the extra effort. once again thanks Dec.
I swear to God this one has been reviewed by me before! And im wondering where my text got lost.. lol anyways.. Here goes again:
I love the beat and i love that little twinkle in the drumbeat that comes each 12:th note or so so theres nothing wrong what so ever there...
THEN we have the synthpad or noice that comes in and there is absolutly nothing wrong with the sound itself, BUT it clashes beat-wise pretty hard with the drumbeat. Its like listening to two different tunes at the same time so the bpm should either be lower or rised on that specific noice to fit the drumbeat.
I personally never listen to people that says that voice needs to be exactly spot on, and sinse its music we are dealing with. Perfectionism doesnt exist in the best pieces.
A little filtering and a fun effect and "Wham"..
...and when the guitarr came in its started to get really interesting and enjoyable to listen to, for real.
Allandall i say that it has some flaws, but nothing you cant handle in the end. Practice makes perfect.. ///Dec
Thanks Decent. how's the jack daniels tonight? Yeh I can't bring myself to go back to this one but I'm gonna clean it up at some point. Yeh your review is spot on.
U see, one of my favorite-producers of all time is actually a Break-prod called Goldie. This is very similliar to his work and must say i was surpsriced that i actually liked it more than i thought i would.
The only mark i have on the tune is the octave and would want this to have been a lot darker on the octavescale instead of the "bright" synthpad..
There is two things that makes me hooked on a specific tune, and the first one is the combination of unusual chords and still make it "work" in the end, the second is playfullness with the beat itself. Just because it says 1/4:th of a note doesnt prevent it from being a delayed 1/5:th note so 2 speak. Meaning that you put something "out of sync" and are capable of making that work as well.. This tune has both of those criterias witch makes it extremly enjoyable to listen too.
thanks for your thoughts, and taking the time to put them down, not sure about the awesome LOL, this place is home to some amazing stuff and i`m enjoying being here, its definately expanding my musical side. thanks again !!
Funny thing is, that i personally like this tune becuase it contains the exact same chords and instruments i used to mess around with in the beginning of learning reason. I have NO idea how you made the Malstroem or the Sub make that randomish sound, prolly Matrix, anyhoo, i was impressed beacuse it was 500 billion times better than my own accomplishments in the beginning. I really hope, that Tristanwood will grab this tune and put some lyrics on it, beacuse in the middle, i got the feeling that something was missing (Or maby just me bacuse of the chords i did for over 5 years, lol). I am not the one judge when it comes to "what" was missing, but i think a voice could help in making the tune even more interesting.
Thanks dude.
the track its self is meant for a vocal. however, i messaged the guy and he never came back to me, maybe he didnt like it. lol
either way i never heard back.
as far as the basses are concerned, its actually 3 different bass patches. ones a combi with 4 malstroms(hi,low, mid and extra bit of a growly low end)compression and EQ fed into a scream 4 patch.
second is a combi with a simple thor and scream for patch with the LFO automated.
third and most important is the same thor but with fold back distortion fed into a splitter half going to the mixer and then the other half going to an arp thats controlled by the the lfo(which also controlls the frequency and the pos on the oscillators) and then back into the mixer. sounds weird but that how i got that jittery bass line effect.
its a long way round but it gives you control in as far as automation is concerned, however if i was doing the patch again id do it more simply, its just... i dont have to... cause i got this one.
lol
thanks for the input... your right.. it really does need a vocal.
lol.. I was just to point out the channeling-"issue" when i read the description.
A very interesting piece that would suit as a backtrack into something even more weird. Let me know if you have this piece without the drums and if you would let me "borrow" it?
you're welcome yo use it, i'd be honoured,
i'll try and strip out the crappy drum machine, if i can do it i'll re-post
i definitely have the feedback track on its own will post that tommorow
I like this one a lot. As soon as it started to get repetetive it went from good to splendid. Everything passed 1.30 could be made into a single tune itself.. Great work man.
I till also see about time shen it comes to the remix. Mgiht take a while.. too much on my hands at the moment. But it will come. /// Dec :)
HA.. This was brilliant and i loved it.. It reminds me of my former tunes i did in the beginning of music creation. T´was a lot of bpm´s and a lot of drums compiled together with fancy synth.
It has a lot of potential and sounds really good.. but you made a verry verry verry common mistake when it comes to normalizing the tune itself.
The notes, drums and synth-sections seemes to clip out and that is becuase you probobly had it very loud in your headphones when making the tune itself. When producing music and finalizing it, we as producers must learn to lower the volume of nearly everything in the tune to make it "not" clipping it as the final piece.. Audacity for instance have this built-in feature thats called normalicing, BUT if the tune is exported as clipping out, it will also be so in the final version.. Lower the volume just a bit on the sections clipping out, re-record it, normalize it.. voila.. masterpice.. ///Dec :)
thank you for liking it :D
and thank you even more for the tip, i tried looking for this function to normalize it, and found it, so i activated it, so I'll be uploading a new version of this song, with the normalize function activated, if it works, it'll replace the old version, so i hope you can tell me if it is what you meant by normalizing it :D
Ho ho ho.. This one i liked a lot, and was almost jumping up and down at the end hoping it would end up in true Grindcore-style (Houratron). More blip, more blop!
From being one who went from industrial to Mozart i must say this sounds extremly fun. Be proud of your sounds.. but, its a difference when something sounds "filthy" and something clippes out of the recording (Dont get me wrong, filth is good). The heavy bass sounds like its way of the charts and could use a compressor or at least some normalizing.. Other than that it sounds lika a true bassbreaker and I would definetly play it on my own pa-teys.. ///Dec
thnx a lot! :) and yea (sigh) i can never tell because of my speakers but i'm finally getting some KRK's next week.. and like it said in the the description, it's not finished, check it out when it's done. I appreciate the feedback .
