Nice fast paced track and cool use of the pianos. Some attention on the mix would be good however. The snare disappears here and there when things get to clouded and the toms are way to boxy and boomy.
The guitars are sounding a bit muffled so I'd suggest boosting some of the high end a bit. And bring those drums up a bit.
Another fabulous effort! Your voice is definitely excellent.
I would have liked some hihats on the Flying Solo part as it would have added to the depth and emotion of that part. Your voice sounds a bit nasal...did you filter some of the high end in there?....
Overall a very good effort but there could be some improvements on the mixing side of things.
You've got a lot of talent and definitely a good voice. Some work would help on the production, well actually the mixing side of things. in the chorus however some more punch would be needed. It's just a bit empty.
The vocals could use a smooth stereo echo to add some vibe. The drums could also use a bit of tweaking to get some punch behind them.
Impressive voice! I like the sound of the guitar however I would have loved some better mixing on it. Get that guitar wider to allow the vocals to breathe and you'll have something extremely great sounding.
I do love the emotion however! Amazing is not a big enough word to describe what you've done here!
Thank you very much. I feel very flattered that you liked it. On the chorus, I did this on purpose ... things of the Spanish. Indeed, I thank you for your encouraging comments.
You just destroyed a classic Yesh! Come on man that intro needs to go on! Yeah you are right it's cheesy but definitely goes well as an intro as it sets a good mood for what's to follow.
Would have been freaking awesome to have some vocals on it.
The sound of the beat is nice, I like the kicks awesome stuff.
Oh come on DexDee you call this powerfull? HAhah just kiding! Nice kick sound it reminds me of the German Hip-Hop sound, very similar trust me. Good definition on it that's for sure and the sounds is nice and clear.
You could always parallel compress that kick and EQ the parallel compressed one so that the low end would be more prominent. Now that will create a powerful and clean kick. It always works wonders.
Still your track here did drive my custom main monitors pretty good.
lol Malu, u made those speakers urself, who knows what u put in them? lol no wonder they show u a lil. i have heard about parallel compression, read about it and tried it, but not on this track. was too full to do so, but sure will try it when i get back to that project. thnx
Awesome from start to finish! The piano is fabulous the I like the way you've rounded out the low end of the kick. There is a bass that comes in right after the piano arpeggios. It creates in a couple of places some muddy sound probably because of the low kick I'd suggest doing a bell type cut around 90Hz with a very narrow Q to allow the natural frequency of the kick to breathe (you'd be surprised that the bass doesn't necessarily sound strong if it's lows are boosted).
Still a beyond A+ production and sonic quality. A good listening experience. That break before the end was incredible and it certainly made it's impact.
Hahhah yeah I like your disclaimer about Pink Floyd. I grew up with their music and they are incredible even now after all the time they have been separated and the music industry is saturated with crappy music so it was a good audition being given the opportunity to listen to something like this again.
The guitar work and the vocals are totally awesome. I can't agree with some processing on the guitars as the different reverb settings make it seem as if they come from different songs and there are some leveling issues as well as the vocals get buried underneath the guitars here and there.
The snare needs a bigger reverb to blend it in the back a bit and the Bass definitely needs more compression to bring it out more.
Even so the quality is incredible and trust me what I've said above are subtle nuances that when touched can work wonders.
Hi Malu, and thank you for the insightful review. All your tips on how to improve the mix are welcome.
I'm really happy that you like this song, so I thought, would you like to have a go at the mix?

The drums need to come up a bit and be more defined. At the moment he guitars sound nice and deep but you can hardly tell there is a drum track in there, the hi-hats are obvious but the kick and snare are gone.
Also the chorus parts are a bit to mono compared to the wide feel of the verse parts so work a bit on the doubling and widening of that chorus.
If you would have doubled that guitar and slightly delay one of them it would have gave it some depth and dimension.
The arrangement is very nice and I'm extremely curious how it will sound with vocals.
To be honest I would have loved that kick to be a bit rounder and not so attacking but that may be personal preference. Good vibe all around it that's for sure.
Not a big fan of Funk to be honest as I always hatted that playfulness it involved (kinda reminded me of Mozart always and I don't like Mozart) however I always appreciated the talent the funk player had, it does take skill to jam along these guys/girls let alone do something worthwhile listening to.
You've captured perfectly that playfulness in the track and I really think you do understand the essence of funk. I can picture a bunch of guys/girls having a good jam along this.
As far as mixing goes I didn't necessarily like the dry feel of the track and it seems a bit centered but the arrangement is definitely Funk. The bass is excellent and i like the sound of it, the drums have a nice roomy sound on the kick and I definitely like that as it makes them a bit more aggressive. That lead synth is interesting and I'm pretty sure I know what it is but I just can't scratch it out of my head. Lol.
Hiya Malu,
It's interesting you refer to funk as being playful...in a way I never looked at it like that. Thinking back to when funk was big, I guess it developed as an antidote to the pretty dire times that existed...but anyway, thanks for the listen and review :)

If you would invest a bit in the recording gear you could really be doing it with the big boys out there. The quality of the recording is average but your talent is obvious even so.
The biggest advice I could give you is get a producer that has the patience to work with you on the vocal production as well as it's always good to have another set of ears around. You've pushed it in a couple of places but I like all the influences I can hear in your vocals.
Amazing production on this as well! You should invest more time in the mix phase of your production and it will bring a new level to the track and definitely make it sound more professional.
Some electric guitars in the background would have been awesome to keep the rhythm going with the bass.
Really nice arrangement and definitely a catchy song. Some mixing is required however to keep it under control and with that it will kick some serious ass.
Very well produced however and quite a good voice.
Thank you very much for your review and your nice words! Unfortunately I'm not in this with this mixing and mastering and so on. Therefore my songs mostly are ending up with poor quality.

I was honestly expecting some rap on top of it as it would have sweetened the track out. There is a sample in there or a synth that's out of tune.
With some work and a vocal it could head somewhere!

As Michael said you could have let go a bit on the chorus you know go a bit higher in pitch and volume but I guess the relaxed feel also works well.
I would have personally loved those drums a bit harder hitting and with a nice reverb on the snare to go with the edgy vibe.
A fabulous effort!
