I thought of a "Samurai Champloo" vibe right away when the beat played haha that anime is sick. Something sounds a lil weird with the stereo imaging though...might just be because i'm listening through headphones. But this is dope, pretty nice vocals too man, keep it up! peace out!

BK where you been brudda!? See you like to log on late as hell as i do sometimes, I'm never really off to be honest. Because even when i log off i still check on the site looking at the forums and "if" someone commented on a track of mines lol But digging this man, like the scratching you did on this mixed with the vocals samples. Sounds pretty dope through my headphones too. Be seeing you around bra, keep the chill vibes up. and stay blazing, which i'm sure you do with music like this lol peace!

on Were Unmatched -StatusL3gendary2 track by theCaleb
Agree with the others, this track is in need of some fine compression execution. Maybe a multi-compressor...but i dunno what type of DAW you use. If you use reason, it's standard compressor should be fitting for the job..as far as any other DAWs download some good plugins. I can't really give too many specific ones, as i'm still searching for a great set of plugins that work for me and my work flow. But i would just start with searching for some "freeware" vst plugins. And if you use a mac, plugins for that is actually "audio unit plugins." I dunno why it's different, i just recently figured that out. Or even RTAS plugins.

And as far the kick drum, and even the vocals the compression settings could be as follows. a 2:1 ratio to maybe a little below 4:1. A slow (or) fast threshold, it really depends what sounds alright to you. Usually a fast threshold is good for tracks like these with a jumping bass kick like that. Make sure to leave a bit of head room on the output gain, so crank it down maybe a -0.3 decibels. That should usually work, as it will keep sounds from peaking or distorting. And with nice compression to smooth things out, you can add a limiter to turn things back up without it peaking. Then you could EQ or whatever you feel is necessary to fine tune and polish your track up. Hope that helps brudda. peace out!

Interesting work so far..i like the choir and ambient sounding glockenspiel type of synth. i dunno how to describe that one..but yea i dunno if this is the finished product for you, but i await the final version. I think i'ma take a break on this music tip, i've gotten so caught up in my unemployment situation i really don't want to focus on anything else. And it's a shame because i really don't want to focus on money like it's the most important thing in the world, but unfortunately it kind of is...to survive at least..money is firmly on my money right now. I'll be seeing you around. peace out.

im not sure if im done with this one. i took down the bass a bit, and now im regretting it. i also had lyrics to this that i might fit...dunno...

Okay...so, let's start over. I LIKE THIS TRACK. lol and...I LIKE YOU. Really, the string melody is pretty dope on this. The piano is really fitting too, probably my most favorite instrument that i want to learn one day. But yea this has that lowkey epicness to it. digs it.

Sounds like this could equally a nice chill out track to. Has nice set foundations for some good techno or house too. Reminds me bit of the Megaman Battle Network soundtracks. Or Even the Megaman X soundtracks, I've always like those and the synths and sounds they use in those are always great. These are really great too. Digging this track man. Great job. peace

on Beautiful Death by Proxy
Just from pressing play, this already reminds of a lil of metroid prime mixed in with some darkness from the silent hill soundtracks. That voice with a bit of a flanging effect it sounds like or phasing makes it sound really eerie and spaced out. This is creepy track here man, very in depth to the feeling of death...sounds more like a very horrible death actually..i'm scared lol haha funny too because I was just watching two documentaries about two very twisted dark individuals.

Ed Gein and Melvin Just...Ed has to be just plain insane for what he did...and Melvin...that was probably the worst story about child abuse and molestation i've ever seen. This track would of fit the setting in those documentaries quite perfectly. Chillin stuff brudda, short and sweet. Faved

on I Will by Dubstacular
Dug the intro in this, has a very slow build up to it though. Could of got down to the jamming right away! Not too fast though, but yea thought the track was a bit loud as well. Needs some heavy compression to smooth it out. Cut out some frequencies that don't belong too, EQ'ing is key. It's hard however to get really good at EQ'ing though, it takes time. Something i definitely still haven't mastered myself. And when your finishing up a track, you should always try to listen back on every medium you can. Monitors, headphones, earphones, your car, and maybe even the internal speakers of your computer/mac. Whatever you have at your disposal really, but this was a solid track. Nice instrumentation with the piano. keep it up. peace

Dubstacular replied 9th Dec 2012 - 12 years ago
Hmm. Okay, I'm not sure about your thoughts on over-compressing. I definitely used my compressors the way I saw fit. What was loud? Do you mean the volume? I guess if you think the overall track is too crowded, that would be understandable. It's kind of what I was intending. Also, I'm not sure what part you're thinking of that is not EQ'd. Any specifics? I did listen to it on different speakers, including all of what you recommend. What did you listen to it with? Anyway, thanks for commenting.

on Trap Kid - Do Dat by MadLabz
Agree with the others, hot track. The bass is alright for me on my speakers. I'm almost going to assume you made this with FL as alot of dudes are getting into making the trap shit on fruity loops. Only thing i would want from this a little bit of a smoother mix. Other than that, shit is panned nicely has nice stereo imaging. Just a little too loud at times. (although i still like my shit loud too to an extent) peace out!

Nice one, has very cartoon feel to it for some reason. Can hear this on the next big nick toon show or something. Now that i think about it, for some reason i think about an old show called "Chalkzone" that was on nick in the early 2000's. Loved that show. Like this though, groovy guitar and nice vocals efx to boot. dig it. peace out!

on Run To You DJ Joker Lovegoo Version by DJJoker
Nice...kind of sounds like something that can be a "Sonic" game soundtrack for some reason. I get feel for Megaman mixed with Sonic. Maybe it's the flanging like effects (which is used alot in many MegamanX game soundtracks) or the crisp guitar that sometimes pops up in sonic games. More of it's recent releases especially. Dig this though man, would of liked a final master however. But otherwise, nicely done. peace

on The Air We Breathe by Planetjazzbass
Sweet track here PJB. (Excuse the acronym) You've definitely been one of the top professionals on here as far as standards go for a final polished "sound" for you tracks. Everything is as clear as the rain. Agree with bear on this, real instrumentation is important and although i do most of my works electronically/digitally I still care about it's outcome. Would like to at least to learn to play piano, by far my favorite instrument. This a really great track though man, wish i had half the gear you guys had! I'd be busting out tracks at this quality too. The title is a fitting representation as well, and the music is the perfect advocate. Intelligent stuff here, respect.

-And you cracked me up a little with your post on MrFunk's thread just now realizing I am Neobane aka Neoenigma aka many aliases really lol And just so you know, the respect for you and any other long time members of this site has always been there. If i have not apologized for my adolescence in my "Neoenigma" days, i apologize now sincerely. As we all learn from growing up, and that's all i really needed to experience in the first place. And at that time, i was not in good place in my life. So apologies for the disrespect on all those pointless threads. peace!

Hey mate..thanks for the great review and I'm glad you enjoyed the track!...I never forget anything (sometimes it is a curse)and you already apologised ages ago,not that you needed to as it's quite normal for people to occasionally bounce off some of my attitudes (set in stone!lol)..I never hold a grudge or anything like that and we should be on a first name basis by now (when I find out your real name) haha...We're all connected through various degrees of separation and I do appreciate your candour and openness...cheers mate Dave :)

on war games by soundsforsoreeyes
I see you trying something a bit different here bro. I can dig it. I've literally dabbled in about every type of genre there is. (Except country) And i think doing that increases your creativity and work flow. You become more open to all the different sounds that are available for use that is limitless by design. Regardless if this is your first dance type of track, i think you did pretty good. I like the synths and the jumpy rhythm to it. the pad is awesome too. A little short but otherwise nice. keep it up! peace

I couldn't agree more. I started producing because of the same principal you just described. I wanted to try different stuff.

Regarding the track... thanks for the feedback. One of the producers that I work with is a crazy Dance producer. He inspired me to try to do one and War Games is what I came up with. It was dope to work on. I keep a couple of Dance tracks on the back burner. I need to finish em up.
With that being said, the best advice I have heard this year was "Forget genres, just make music" peace
