Awesome track, sufficiently epic. I'm more in the Black/Technical Death Metal direction when it comes to metal preference (Nile, Gorod, Necrophagist, Gojira), so I keep wanting to hear a ridiculous wall of blast beats, but that wouldn't be very "doom metal" (you'd think I'd know).
I'll end up listening to the rest of them, great track. I feel lazy making my tracks in 2-6 hours (I have to set my own time constraints), but I'm a perfectionist too and would have never finished my first track otherwise.
Country? But it's not auto-tuned with twangy rock guitars :) you get to take Kris Kristofferson's place as one of the four highwaymen. Great work, keep it up!
It's off to a great start. I would level the tracks. All of the places where the MP3 is chopped on the top and bottom is clipping (too loud/tall). You can solve that with individual track volume adjustment/eq/comp.
Thanks a ton! would definitely check that out, I realize that this track is lacking on basses like Modnex said, this track is full of saws that is unnecessary.
First, let me say that I love these kinds of comments. People asking questions for the sake of their improvement. Thank you for that!
Now, as far as automating the frequencies, there are a few ways I do it. Very rarely with hardware knobs. Right now I don't have a space set up for any hardware, so...that's not really an option.
Most of the automation I can program right in the VST using envelope filters.
in some cases, like the intro to this track, I used the Fruity parametric EQ2 preset "20hz + 18khz cut" and then assigned an automation track to the 18khz from low to high.
Check out some of my other work for more examples of automation. If you have any more questions about how I do things, please, feel free to ask. I'm always willing to share.
Sounds good. If you want mixing lessons check out Rick Beato on YouTube. I've been watching him for a couple years, everything from music theory to mixing/mastering (Like 1400 videos). I'll recommend him to anyone looking to expand their knowledge. As far as the mix goes, it's a bit compression drenched (you can see this when the wav form is solid like a brick). This can be solved with eq and volume/comp control on each track.
Have been checking out your tracks and really impressed by the variety. Really nice mixing. Enjoying and look forward to hearing more - also impressed by your openness to ideas.
Nice mix, most dub I hear is a black brick (wav shape) that tries to destroy my speakers (and ears). This I can turn up, though I'm pretty sure it's gonna cut me in half, well done.
Great guitar work once again. Sounded like you had some latency on the guitar recording at 0:37, not sure though (could've been by design).
I've been using an amp as my guitar monitor and turning the monitoring off in the mix while recording to it. Seems to work better for me, instead of fighting with latency settings and getting weird delay sometimes or spots where I have to manually fix the track.
Just curious, the arpeggio part that changes with the chords that makes the theme, is that a sample transposed depending on the chord? If so are you doing it in the DAW or with the keyboard? I have a new MIDI controller and I've looking for other ways to use it. Great job on the Track.
I would love to take the stems from Long Road and Old Me and blend them into one arrangement with lots of changes and more guitar parts in the background. Great job, unique sound choices.
Great montage feel. I half expected the typewriter to start going in time with the music. There is a little clipping when you crank it up, might want to adjust some track volumes/eq/comp to get rid of it (just my opinion, mostly in the regions where the top and bottom of the MP3 shape is flat). Lot's of good ideas, fun to listen to.
I went in a similar direction during the verse with this: https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/216951
The Trap/Reggae Blend is a sure fire win and will be in all the Pop in 10 years, like the latin-beat/EDM/Southern Rap is now. Great ideas here, keep it up.

I'm trying to expand my soundscapes and you seem to have no problem doing so. Keep up the great work.
