Im stoned...and this rocks. Description is accurate. lol.

I always enjoy the playfulness and freedom I feel wen i hear ur music. Here's some bonus Looperman Lore: The First song I ever listened to here was one of yours, bro. Who knows If I wouldve stuck around if it happened differently? And here u still are, having fun doing your thing. I think some forget to have fun sometimes, but ur work is here to do its part to remind us.

Oh, make no mistake my friend, its 420 here 24 hours a day. Lol. Sadly, the word Dope has a stigma on it around my part of the world - its not a word for weed, but something far worse, and Im lucky that I escaped it and put it in my rearview some years ago. but Many I loved and respected did not make it. I know u meant no offense, man - i just had to get over my negative perception of the word to be able to enjoy ur work, know wat im sayin? But no worries. Sometimes theres a story in places u might not expect or even know about yet. Ive heard many of your songs by now, and Ive got some melodies Ive been working on to possibly use when i start putting togther songs for my brothers (Vizzio) album, but I wont be able to use them all, so i thought about sending a few to u to see if u might want to do something with one, or i could do stems if u prefer. Ive done quite a few collabs here, but I want to step that up even more this year - Collaborations only benefit us all, and I plan to try and showcase as many artists from the community here as i can. Ill shoot u an email from here with my contact info.

on VT Nights x KayOS - Why dont you rock me by Kayos2
WHAT!? Where in the world did this come from? This is the kind of stuff u should be doing, for real guys. Im speechless, all i can say atm is that Im floored. And maybe a bit bummed u didnt let me come up with some guitar stuff for u :/ If u had let me hear 20 seconds of this when u were still working on it, id have gleefully tried to give ya something to fit with it, still working within the parameters u set of course. If u decide to do something similar, I really like to work with u on it in some capacity. This one is my favorite of all favorites from u , superbly done Oli/kay. hats off to u. -Aaron

on 4-1 - What Do You Do by BaoBou
Funk in my lungs and in my ears, too. What a good start to the new year lol. This one reminds me of some stuff I heard live a few years ago, the group was an ensemble and they had someone playing a mandolin. Honestly, where I live, youd be highly successful on the Fri-Sat night venue scene (Ive thought about that before, too) Alot of your work just makes me wanna grab a beer and smile, and take it all in. And I dont even drink lol. Its just very endearing. U have what my football coach called "intangibles" - hopefully u understand wat i mean. Good work man.

BaoBou replied 2nd Jan 2025 - 1 year ago
Hahaha thanks buddy! I've always struggled to find other musicians to play live with - I did some gigs with a sax player, many gigs on my own... Most people want only to play covers, or else their own tracks. Playing in/writing for a funk band... that's the dream and it's the thing I try to evoke with these tracks. Glad you had fun and you and lil bro an awesome 2025!

Well, Idk how well known it is, But Im 50% pure US Southerner, so certain things appeal to me and I have no choice in the matter lol. This type of thing is one of them. I was reminded of some shows I went to as a teenager, where i made some of my favorite memories. I was grinning like a fool, and since i had headphones on, there wasnt much context so everyone around me was laughing at me lol. Well done on capturing that spirit man.

I can hear some of the first stuff i ever heard from u here, but theres some other elements here, too - youve grown as an artist, and so ur like a painter or craftsman who begins to add flourishes that are recognizable as their work. on VT Nights x KayOS - Why I stay at Xmas by Kayos2
Music is meant to entertain just as much as anything else, though Im most definitely not always entertained. lol. U guys have the gift to be able to entertain, and also reach the listener because your songs have heart as well as soul. Sometimes there are hidden truths to the lyrics, other times the meaning is plain to hear. And you take risks, more so because u follow ur heart, and so it pays off. I was entertained to say the least, But the point of the song was not lost on me. Im a broken record by now lol, but ill say it anyway - well done. - Aaron

I understand the guitarist's journey well, brother. I recieved my first REALLY NICE guitar at a time when i felt like noone could possibly understand or reach me, and I was just so burdened with the entire world's problems - Yes, i speak of the terrible teens lol. But many a night (and many a beer, many a joint and/or the occasional LSD hit also lol) i spent in a chair next to the firepit, with that guitar glued to my hands, going off on deeply personal journeys that led me to better understanding of myself - sometimes for 12, 15 even 24 hours straight, playing until i had to tape my fingers back together. I feel lucky to know a musician who can recreate that feeling for me, even luckier to know that this community has TWO artists who can do that for me, and yes you are 50% of them. I wish I could bring my trusty yamaha acoustic and come sit with u and join u on a few of these sojourns, i truly do man.

Hello my brother, let me say for now you never know what the future holds....but for folk like ourselves we have an instrument that in its weird way it can entertain us or help us through some awful crazy stuff. And then you can have nice moments when you can actually record some beautiful phrases that resonate with a lot of people.....it's a great thing since music is so universal. It's good to know there are other members of this forum who easily understood and feel the music.....no matter the genre....let's keep producing what we do for everyone and especially ourselves.....stay tuned my friend.

Im always there for one of your songs, dude, no debate there. This one has healing properties man, id swear it does. ive been dragging the last few hours, im exhausted from getting over the flu. but i feel like Ive gotten a second wind, maybe even inspired a bit. its been awhile since ive used elements similar to what tends to come from your work... i use the word work losely, I imagine its more like a short journey for u when u sit down with a guitar, and so a journey for the listener as well. as always, well done. - Aaron

Hello Pnnywze.....I can only tell you how much the comments are appreciated.....the playing part for me when improvising seems easier for reasons I can't explain except to say it's the only way I've played, and of course it's not without it's hits and misses.....but for the most part I manage to express on the guitar what I'm thinking and feeling. Im glad when others like yourself can understand that the thinking and playing are so connected at those moments. Again very appreciative of your words.

on 4- I wont miss you by BaoBou
When someone with alot of raw talent eventually finds their groove, the sweet spot, so to speak, of their musical ability, and then branches out in all directions from there, their versatility becomes hard to match. Its easy to forget that Any dude could bang on a guitar all day long and not make a single note that commands any attention. That is why, for me, listening to the music you are making now leaves me in a bit of awe sometimes. One couldnt buy experience or musical personality even if one wanted to, congratulations on putting in the work and achieving results man. Lovely.

on VT Nights x KayOS - Modern World by Kayos2
This one took me surprise. The lyrics have a desperate humanity to them, and a strong sense of dignity. Thats honestly a trademark of many of your songs, not just this one. And having a real message at all is something that alot of today's music lacks, and I commend u for holding onto values and beliefs in the face of an increasingly distant and cold world. Im not a stranger to those feelings myself. But Ive been terrified of the metal skeletons from the Terminator movies since I was a kid, so technology such as A.I. disturbs me in a very Need-a-therpist kinda way lol. Im really glad that Ive had the unique journey through music that I have - Ive had my time with performing live, being in a band and havingsome of our songs professionally recorded, My time as a performing DJ, Time as a stage Tech, even played some acoustic sets covering Alice In Chains & STP songs with an incredible singer. Ive had a taste of music life before technology really took over the industry, and I appreciate that more and more everyday. Your song gave me these thoughts, so I thought Id share them with u. Thank u for sharing your Brilliance with us, guys. (and gals, my bad Kay lol)

The best artists are always humble, Richard. Your vocals are where u shine, but your are certainly no novice. Much of the stuff that u learn about vocals, such as keys etc, apply to other areas of music, as well. It gives u a head start, so to speak. I attended Vincennes school of Music for a single semester years ago, but I learned alot more about bong hits and beer funnels than anything else lol. I learned more of what i know about music theory on my own as a guitarist and later as a DJ. I feel your past experiences prepared u well for your current endeavors. When it comes to learning, that never stops for any of us, and that applies to every member of this community, myself not the least. And u have the power of conviction on your side , as well - u believe in what youre doing, and that translates into your work. Whenever i comment on something, I try to say the most helpful things i can. And in your case, its usually about important your work is to have here, and how naturally talented you are. That alone is enough to carry some people, but u have more than that. Dont discount yourself. brother. U are skilled at what you do. and I know for sure Im not alone in that belief. This is the LM equivalent to me shaking your hand, my man.

RichardShekari replied 25th Dec 2024 - 1 year ago
Thanks so much for the thoughtful words, Pnnywze. I really appreciate itit means a lot to me. I agree, its important to always keep ourselves in check; learning never stops, and our unique experiences shape our music. Your insight is spot onbelieving in what you do and having conviction truly makes a difference in the work. I definitely won't discount myself, and your encouragement reinforces that. Its great to be part of such a supportive community, and Im grateful for you being a part of it. Appreciate you, my man.

This one feels like a gear change from what u usually do, not that its a bad thing. Quite the opposite. The Vibe is pure joy - and i dont think anyone could hear this and not be affected by it. When a man truly loves what he does, its plain for all to see. well, in this case, plain for all to hear. Youre a great artist, Richard.

Hey Pnnywze, thanks so much for the kind words! Honestly, I'm not that good at music productionI'm more of a "work by ear" kind of person. Once it feels right to me, I share it, but Im fully aware there are much more professional producers out there. Still, I feel compelled to share what I can.
I also only do this after office hours, and that's if my daughter allows me some time! So, its a bit of a side project for me, but I really appreciate you taking the time to listen and share your thoughts. Means a lot.
I know Ive got a lot to learn, and I want to make it a habit next year to focus more on mixing and mastering. And I cant even play any real instrumentscan you believe that? Haha! And just for your info, I use Adobe Audition 1.5 (best believe that!) for recording and mixing vocals, while FL Studio handles the beat production. Then I pull the wave file back into FL for final mastering, haha! The vocal part is actually from an experience when I was in the choir at a small-town church in my teens

Hey man - One of the members of my group would like to use this for a short hype track, it would be posted to the group's page whenever it was done. I encouraged him to do this, working with other producers' work here in the community is an experience that will only benefit him, and all the other group members. what is the BPM on this one? Its pretty fast, and thats exactly what he wanted today
