really grooving with the lyrics and perf - great music, matching the vocal hooks perfectly - if i hadda namecheck it'd be Mekons at their more dubby moments - but this is all it's own - much respect
Thanks a lot man, I had been humming this melody the past few weeks in the shower (where most of my ideas originate oddly), it's just producing those ideas to sound as you hear them in your head that can be tricky. I think I got pretty close with this one though, just need to add a few little tweaks. Glad you liked it :)
i love the playing + sound on this track - i'm glad you shared this track - there's a really private/personal vibe here that's pretty dang cool - ah, but i imagine everything - listening to music helps...
dig the immediacy (if that's a word) - the drumming!!! - the way this plays has a great live feel to it - edgy stuff - sounds like a musician and not a 'producer' if y'know what i mean and sounds perfect that way
Thanks man, I really appreciate it! I definitely got the 'live' feeling as well while i was making this. It would be epic to have this synched with a live band! - oh, and HMNN's loop was totally responsible for the drumming awesomenss :)
ok, 4th listen, man this has real 'reaching out' quality that grabs these ears - the pno def carries the day initially, a good tune and a great sound, but the near-sub accompaniment makes this a killer track - if i hadda quibble, for me the splash cymbal's too prominent, some ride would be cool - but that's so beside the point - awesome ultra-compact and rather insidious rock n roll, man - all respect.
04Oct2010 - this is a powerful set of music, fav applies to being able to hear the 5 as a set - hard, lyrical, beset but not beat - all respect for the vision + heart + music
- thanks from here, man
Hearing this as a companion-piece to or extension of Russian Tears, (second movement) and have a sense of more history/commentary in the making - the Metropolis references are very moving and effective. A striking track (pun intended (it's a curse)).
Then again, I could just be completely off my nut.
Respect, Codge
Hello Michael ~ I never intended this track to be a companion-piece to Russian Tears but you've got me thinking ~ Maybe a third movement and a fourth ~ Great respect back at you...
v2: the additional production work on this is so fitting - this contains so much, and for me it's the thing happening in the interstices that really pull me in - awesome music, much respect
Thanks for coming back for a second listen! It's nice to have experienced vets such as yourself giving me feedback and helping me improve my technique. Respect to you and yours as well.
this really works, connects on all the levels - gotta be up there with your best vox - new life, relevance for power-ballads - much admired, great respect, pmk
Thanks Michael. Since I consider myself a guitarplayer/songwriter first your comment on the vocals is unexpected and much appreciated. Thanks again for your very kind words.
Cheers

this is not a good critical term but i love the 'feel' of this track - and the way the bass harmonics play with the percussion is so right on - very playful and well-played - much respect
really beautiful track! but one-way? more research, please - i know i've been here before and next time i'll be a background singer or maybe a cat - take me to the river, brother
I meant i was eating my heart out - sorry for the dumb attempt at a joke - just gotta tease a person with an avatar like yours for killing me with this outrageous music - not to mention, i like the pic a lot, too
REV: I don't mean anything about you or about anybody by commenting on the pic either - GAHH - just want to hear that music!!
not a producer, but from this listener's pov - this is really a lovely and flowing piece of music - the stitches or breaths (as opposed to cuts) add a perspective - without that really cool human touch this might sound more like a collage rather than a tapestry, which is what i'm hearing - much admired
