Yes, you are correct. You may want to increase attack, compression & high end of the 808 to give it extra punch, but it may be easier to just find other samples (thankfully there are plenty online). The clap also sounds a bit hollow, yet it has plenty low-mid. Standard 808 kit claps would sound more crunk-like.
I was actually trying to find an 808 that I could key in to the bass notes and play along with it.. I have a handful of other samples and mixes of it I'm working on but I think a synthesized 808 is gonna be my best route.
I'm not sure how much loops you have used or how much of your own synths you have put into this but it sounds pretty good. I would make the buildup more distinctive by adding some whooshes/transitions here and there but overall I think you nailed it.
Im still inexperienced in Music Production so as of the moment i still use lots of Samples and Loops, anyway thanks for the feedback feel free to add some transitions.
Nice kick & hats. Has a creepy atmosphere to it. I don't know if you have used a sample or composed the lead melody yourself, but it would be cool for it to evolve somehow throughout the song. I get that it's a rap beat but it would be awesome if the composition would build up through the song
